I’m Sorely Tempted To Offer Ivanka’s Question As An Ethics Quiz…

But I won’t.

Ivanka Trump, Donald’s eldest daughter, asks on Twitter/X: “What comes to mind when you see this team?”

You’ll be sorry you asked, IT, at least that you asked me.

What I see are three untrustworthy, ambitious self-promoters of varying unacceptable levels of demagoguery of whom I wrote in January, assessing the best and worst of the presumed GOP Vice-Presidential candidates at the time, Completely unforgivable”

“This group, I hope, consists of only three members: tech entrepreneur and skilled troll Vivek Ramaswamy, ex-Fox News demagogue Tucker Carlson [and], anti-vax, “lock up climate change-deniers” rogue Democrat, Robert Kennedy, Jr. None of these have any relevant experience qualifying them to be President, and would be both irresponsible choices and dangerous ones. I suppose Vivek would be the least terrible, which is the faintest of faint praise compared to the other three.

That those three would be both irresponsible choices for Veep and dangerous ones now means that the idea of any of the three, or Lord help us, all of them, becoming advisors in a Trump White House is the stuff nightmares are made of.

Musk is an American hero, but also a CEO-type and the last kind of “team member” the similarly oriented Trump needs, other than for financial support in his campaign. Vance, for anyone with historical perspective, is Spiro Agnew II, a Presidential attack dog who is the VP nominee to be a lightning rod for criticism and to be more articulate making Trump-like points than Trump is. (Vance was listed under the “Unqualified but expedient” category in that January post. I had Kristi Noem listed in the “qualified” category; this was before she started boasting about shooting puppies that displeased her.)

Ivanka’s group is, in short, not a “team” that should fill any American with confidence, hope and trust, except in the “well, the alternative is much worse, it’s the best we’ve got, and I hope God is enjoying his practical joke” sense.

  1. I realize that RFK, Jr.’s incorporation into the GOP mix was purely a political move after the DNC started working to remove him from the ballots in the tightly-contested states, but he’s not a Republican and he’s not a conservative, and his views on ACGW are very concerning. Whatever role he has in a potential Trump47 administration should be light years away from anything climate-related.

  2. I have seen numerous collages like this, but most put Tulsi Gabbard in for Tucker Carlson. That makes a much more interesting point. What I see then are a bunch of former Democrats (except Vance) who are now considered alt-right dangers to democracyTM.

It is a picture of what political moderates look like today and a testament to how political moderates are viewed by today’s ruling class.
