Three days ago, the Daily Wire broke the news that a FEMA employee ordered workers to bypass the homes of Trump supporters as they surveyed the damage caused by Hurricane Milton in Florida. This was a damning story in many respects; among them, Republican claims that this was happening were “fact-checked” by the Democratic Party allied media and declared “misinformation” before the truth came out.
The Daily Wire, Ben Shapiro’s conservative website, broke the story because the mainstream media was probably burying it, but once it was out, every outlet had to report it and credit the Wire. Well, almost every outlet. NBC Breaking News reporter Mirna Alsharif, formerly of CNN, used the Daily Wire report without giving credit to the source. Hey, maybe she should apply to be President of Harvard! Then she omitted key information to try to make the scandal less clear.
But social media pounced, as it should have. The reporter’s responses were unprofessional, to say the least. Then she killed her Twitter account after being thoroughly exposed….
This one more example of what a boon to free speech, public information and democracy Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter has been (even if he did rebrand it “X.”) And his thanks has been to be attacked, insulted and demonized by progressives, whose idea of a “democratic” social media cite is one that censors opinions they disagree with.
As for the news media, their reporters can’t be trusted. This is sinking in, but not fast enough. That its power is almost gone still leaves us with a huge problem as a functioning democracy: what sources of information can we trust?
Ethics Alarms 
So far the media’s response to grassroots democratized mass media like twitter is to threaten to leave twitter.
But none will.
Things aren’t going to get better. There are a lot of people saying that FEMA is taking people’s children away in the mountains. FEMA is closing the relief shelters, but they haven’t provided any relief. If a family in the shelter can’t prove that they have a safe, livable place to go to, their children are being seized. Whole towns are washed away, but the election is over, so out into the cold they are being sent. No housing assistance, no extra WIC card like they give the illegal immigrants.
It is interesting, the Democrats throw a fit about separating ‘families’ of people entering this country despite no documentation to prove the children are theirs, but have no problem with seizing the children of Republicans.
Biden’s FEMA isn’t providing trailers to live in like Bush did after Katrina. Remember when Bush was criticized for giving people 5th wheels to live in? Apparently, the problem the Democrats had was that he didn’t just take their kids and kick them out onto the street.
When the right talks about the Deep State, these are the people it means. Bureaucrats who rule their little fiefdoms with the power of life and death over the unwashed masses.
I’m surprised the Democrats aren’t arguing that the Trump-supporting storm-damage sufferers were surely okay with not being approached for government aid because, after all, isn’t that Socialism?
Again, thinking like a Democrat is scary stuff.
Oh yes, the same idiots who claim that anything government provides is socialism, so you freedom advocates better not use any of it. Go to hell.
But they’re happy to take–and I do mean TAKE–our money to pay for it all.
