Ethics Dunces: The Trump-Deranged Michigan Women Who Did THIS…

Why is this unethical? Let me count the ways…

1. It is grandstanding and virtue-signaling without purpose.

2. It demeans women. This is the kind of stereotypical, weak, emotional female behavior that causes biases to linger. I am constantly irritated at movies and TV shows that depitctwomen screaming like little girls if they see a dead body or witness some other traumatic event. I never heard my mother scream; I don’t think she ever did. I’ve never heard my sister scream. My late wife screamed exactly once in our 43 years of marriage, when she saw her cat in the jaws of a stray dog on our porch. Screaming over the results of an election is the mark of, if not mental illness, serious arrested adolescence.

3. The stunt makes progressives look incompetent, desperate and untrustworthy. They may be all of these things, but it is the duty of members of any group not to bring disrepute and ridicule down on other members.

4. Being proud of Trump Derangement shows a distinct distortion of values, such as proportion, prudence, dignity and responsibility.

Is it possible that this was done entirely as satire? If so, the stunt failed spectacularly, because no one seems to have seen it that way.

  1. I can’t remember now who made this observation, whether it was a comment here on Ethics Alarms or over at Substack, but someone observed that the grief these liberal women show over Trump’s election is of the level of mourning for the loss of a husband. And since liberal women have largely substituted in the federal government in place of a husband, they essentially are suffering from that loss. With the federal handouts, the believe-all-women policies, and at least the promise of enshrining abortion in federal law, these women have placed all their trust, hopes for prosperity, and hopes for security in the government. When Trump was elected, those hopes are seemingly dashed, for Trump won’t sign a bill protecting abortion at the federal level, Trump wants to slash government spending, and Trump isn’t friendly to believe-all-women policies.

This isn’t simply behaving in a stereotypical manner. It is the behavior of people who are wholly dependent on the federal government for every aspect of their lives when the federal government is no longer there for their every need.

Again, I wish I remember where I had read that, and if I do come across it again, I’ll be sure to share the link.

    Yeah, but spiders and snakes.

Oh, and women can’t park, either.

Yeah, but I am struggling with the implicit notion that grandstanding and virtue-signalling ever have a legitimate purpose.

All the rest I agree with generally, although I am all for anything that makes progressives look bad. In fact, I’m having a hard time remembering the last time a progressive did anything that made them look good to a sane, rational person.

Also, I think it’s hard to find a “trustworthy” progressive given that they embrace hypocrisy as a literal virtue, and integrity is something to be used against opponents.

Finally, “being proud of Trump Derangement” is an oxymoron. Trump Derangement cannot exist without pride — for a fact, it is pride that is at the root of the disorder.

  4. Well, is slightly less annoying than the condescending, outrageous, victim-grasping lies they seem to be telling.

Despite claiming to be the ‘smart, well educated, and well informed people’, they are making me believe that none of them should ever be placed in a position of responsibility or trust ever.

  5. Remember when this happened back in November 2017? https://ethicsalarms.com/2017/10/25/weeping-and-screaming-at-the-sky-dear-democrats-progressives-and-the-resistance-are-you-embarrassed-yet-why-not/

And, slightly related, there was a screaming event at a videogame developer’s conference earlier this year: https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/events-conferences/game-developers-come-together-at-gdc-for-a-gdscream-to-vent-rage-at-the-state-of-the-industry-it-feels-hard-to-be-here-and-pretend-like-everything-is-fine/#comment-jump

I say slightly related because they are screaming about layoffs, and a contributing factor is arguably game corporations losing profit after being bit by the “woke” bug and turning out inferior product as a result. One of these days when I have the time and energy to do it justice I might post about this further on a Friday Open Forum.

  6. I would argue that it is consistent with the majority of their political views. The “arguments” for abortion on demand, illegal immigration, and biological men playing women’s sports are all appeals to emotion. Oh, don’t forget that JD Vance is weird and Kamala is “joy”. Don’t wrestle with issues, just follow your heart. But also don’t forget they know what’s best for us, and the only reason we didn’t go along with them is we’re too dumb/sexist/racist.

  7. These women are icons. They’re thought leaders. They are speaking truth to power. They are admirable. They are true believers. They’re not stupid, they’re smart. They’re on the right side of history. They’re women! I bet a lot of them are also lesbians. They are uninhibited and not burdened by men. What’s not to like?
