A Nelson For All The Progressives, Democrats and Trump-Haters Freaking Out Over Biden’s Pardoning His Son

Didn’t everyone know that Joe would eventually pardon Hunter? The fact that they didn’t shows the depth of Woke-World’s delusions.

EA had an Ethics Quiz on this topic yesterday but the point was to determine what Biden’s most ethical course was, not to suggest that it wasn’t obvious what he would do despite all of his “promises.” I stated that for me the ethical course was clear: the President has an obligation to do what is in the best interests of the nation regardless of its effects on his family or himself. Just as I was preparing a post on how the EA ethics decision-making systems would help the President to the right thing, I heard about the pardon, rendering the issue moot, or at least too moot to justify an hour of my time.

The Axis really exposed its stupidity on this one. Here’s a supercut of the Left’s propaganda merchants praising Biden’s integrity for promising not to pardon his son..

Were they really that naive, or were they lying along with Biden to get past the election? Nate Silver, for one, wasn’t “shocked—shocked!” that Biden pardoned Hunter: he has posted on X that he no longer can stand Democratic party dishonesty, and has written that no one should vote for a Democratic politician who doesn’t condemn the pardon, and, by extension, the President for breaking his promise.

But Biden lies constantly, and has throughout his political career, even before he started leaking metaphorical marbles. He’s not a deep thinker, and he has always boasted about his devotion to family, even when he was trying to ignore Hunter’s disowned daughter.

The news media is doing its typical biased job, trying to focus attention on the GOP’s reaction to the pardon rather on the pardon itself, a familiar deflection tactic by Axis journalists: “Republican pounce…” Biden’s statement didn’t do any of his defenders any favors:

How can Democrats continue to argue that the prosecutions of Trump were pure as the driven snow when the President accuses his own Justice Department of targeting individuals for political purposes? I have to admit, Republicans are having fun “pouncing”—from “X”:

Ann Althouse is unusually triggered by the pardon and the Left’s reaction to it. She writes in part,

Yes, yes, of course, you Democrats can pose fussily and piously making distinctions between all the crimes Hunter may have done in the last 10 years and anything attributable to Trump’s pardonees. Go ahead. Try. I see your efforts. They’re so self-serving they underscore the essential problem: political favoritism.

Fine distinctions are confusing and hypocritical. You’re going to say violating gun laws doesn’t really matter? Then how are you going to pull off the call for more gun laws, which you know you’re going to need for your usual political theater on the occasion of the next massacre? You’re going to say a rich man’s tax evasion is a measly offense and still hope to see us to respond to your cries for severe taxing of the rich?

No, no, your best move is to trash Biden. You already kicked him to the curb last July. No one remembers the show of honoring his statesmanship you staged at the Democratic National Convention. You’ve already lost the election and suffered a complete breakdown of confidence in your party. You need to rebuild the foundation. There’s nothing to keep. Your party is a teardown.

Trump is about to take over and make a show out of throwing light on the deep state. Don’t condemn yourself to defending every awful thing that may come out — which may include corrupt dealings with Ukraine and China that were blithely swept into Biden’s pardon of Hunter. Trash Joe Biden now to position yourself to seem to welcome all this forthcoming bad news and to offer yourself as the staunch new party of reform.

This, in turn, reminds me of the “Theodoric of York” skits on Saturday Night Live in its prime (you can jump to 5:42 if you want):

Democrats, progressives and their captive pundits and journalist deserve this, just as they deserved to lose the election and have their face rubbed in it by Trump’s nominations and appointments. Ha ha!

  1. They knew that Biden would pardon Hunter. They believed Biden when he said he wouldn’t pardon Hunter as well. They knew he was lying, but they believed him anyway. They also were shocked that Biden pardoned Hunter. They now also believe that his own DOJ that allowed serious tax evasion charges to expire (Hunter did not report his $1 million+ salary from Burisma to the IRS), who gave him a sweetheart deal that even the Democratic judge couldn’t stomach, and who tried to sweep a gun felony under the rug was “politically persecuting’ his son. They believe that hiding income that owed $1.3million+ from the government isn’t something the IRS normally prosecutes.

They can believe all of these ridiculous and even contradictory things simultaneously because they are in a cult.

    • Desperate times call for desperate measures. Boy, I guess they really are DESPERATE! I guess the fact they’ve lost all three branches of the government is settling in. There must be a number of people in the AUC who are sitting around among their fellows, shaking their head and saying, “We’re screwed! Totally screwed!”

Yup! It’s almost too much to take…..almost……

  2. When this possibility was batted around on one of your blog posts a little while back, I think the only real question was when SloJo would pardon Hunter. This seems about right…long enough to where the vote count is settled, but not risking it on Joe’s increasingly tenuous mental & physical survival.

  3. Well, Joe meant it when he said he wouldn’t pardon Hunter. He truly did. He figured that he was going to win a second term whereupon he could do stuff he couldn’t otherwise do with a reelection in the balance. The media and the Left swooned at his commitment to the rule of law and the judicial system while some of us (yours truly included) simply snickered at their naivete. “Yeah, right, Hunter going to jail? Gimme a break!”

Then, Trump got shot and, instead of torpedoing Trump, he rose like the proverbial Phoenix from the flames. Oh, and Obama, Pelosi, et al shuffled him off center stage. Biden, then, said, “Yeah? Miniconvention you say? Let’s see about that. Here’s Kamala! Take that, Barry!” So, now that Joe is riding off into the sunset, he is basically free to do whatever he wants, results be damned.

Biden’s presidential pardon powers are virtually uncheckable (is that a word), as are those of every President. It is the President’s purview (aside from impeachment) to pardon whomever and whenever he wants. Yeah, Hunter is a prick and doesn’t deserve it, but that is the way to cookie crumbles.

  4. Does a pardon effectively force Hunter to testify honestly about his activities against Uncle Jimmy or dad himself now that self incrimination is no longer possible?

  5. Should President Trump choose to pardon any of those involved with the J6 riots, the press release should be an exact copy of the Hunter Biden press release, striking through the appropriate Hunter-related text and replacing it with J6-related text.
