I confess, I don’t know what to call this post, how to define NY Gov. Kathy Hochul at this point, or how to explain American citizens who would put up with her.
She’s had quite an exciting December. On the same day and just two hours after a psychopathic illegal immigrant set a sleeping woman on fire in a New York City subway train, Hochel sent out this…
New York remains a proud “sanctuary state” protecting people like the killer from being arrested and deported for illegally being in a position to do such things in the U.S. rather than their own countries. Yesterday, the Hochul really doubled down on being the governor of a proudly woke state by, in the rather misleading and slanted phrasing of the New York Times [Gift link!], signing into law “a bill that requires companies that are big fossil fuel polluters to help pay to repair damage caused by extreme weather, which is becoming more common because of greenhouse gas emissions.”
Hochul said that the legislation, called the Climate Change Superfund Act, “mandates that the companies responsible for the bulk of carbon emissions buildup between 2000 and 2024 pay about $3 billion each year for 25 years. With nearly every record rainfall, heat wave, and coastal storm, New Yorkers are increasingly burdened with billions of dollars in health, safety, and environmental consequences due to polluters that have historically harmed our environment.”
This is so batty that I can’t even get my mind around it. I doubt that the law will stand up to court scrutiny, but who knows in New York? If I were an oil company, I’d start figuring out quickly if there was some way to stop selling gasoline in New York and to get out of the crazy state as quickly as possible. How long before a similar bill punishing auto manufacturers is made law by Hochul?
To be fair, New York isn’t the first state to try this: Vermont—you know, with the voters who keep electing Bernie Sanders—passed a similar law this summer. The fines won’t kick in until 2028, giving the U.S. Supreme Court plenty of time to rule that states can’t hijack national energy and environmental policies like this. There is also the matter of dubious causation and bad science. The link between supposed “extreme weather events” and fossil fuels is far from established. Maybe Hochul will try to get her legislature to pass a law punishing insurance companies, to mollify the Democrats who just want to shoot their executives.
Once, I would have only written something like that as a joke….
The funny part, I suppose, is that Hochul’s act shows that a strong and influential segment of the Democratic Party is stubbornly determined to treat its 2024 wipe-out as a fluke, with Hochul making an early bid to become the champion of Woke World and the frontrunner for her party’s nomination for President in 2028. After all, it is already written in stone that Democrats will keep nominating a woman, regardless of her actual qualifications, achievements and ability, until one finally wins. Remember, when Harris nominated Knucklehead Walz, many sage pundits from the Axis declared that she should have picked a more competent governor….like, say, Kathy Hochul.
She ‘s had quite a year on Ethics Alarms. Just last month Hochul, who had halted a plan to charge commuters into New York City a 15 dollar a trip “congestion tax” because she feared it would cost her party votes, announced that she was saving her state’s residents money by reinstating the tax but for only nine dollars a trip. I wrote that charging commuters more than nothing, which is what they had been paying to come into Manhattan, is taking money, not giving it. War is Peace, and the state taking your money is putting money in your pocket, because it could be taking even more.” “It Isn’t What It Is” (#64. Yoo’s Rationalization) still appears to be the unofficial slogan of Hochul’s party. Earlier, she neatly demonstrated how elite Democrats really regard the party’s black voting bloc, saying during a speech at the Milken Institute Global Conference in Los Angeles, “Right now we have, you know, young black kids growing up in the Bronx who don’t even know what the word “computer” is. They don’t know. They don’t know these things.” In 2022, Hochul showed her commitment to diversity of thought and principled dissent by telling supporters of Donald Trump to “just jump on a bus and head down to Florida where you belong. OK? Get out of town. Because you don’t represent our values.”
That’s sure one reasonable, rational, ethical governor you’ve got there, New Yorkers. Congratulations.

Wondering if it’s in the water, ’cause it ain’t just Hochul:
P
Yeah, Hochul can’t understand normal thinking – if you know what I mean. I’m sure there was a security force around when she took that subway picture in that shitter post.
These stupid liberal politicians have no concept of public safety when they harbor illegal immigrants or the mentally ill or the career criminal. If you defend yourself in NY you’ll be put on trial for sure.
