‘Nah, Those Prosecutions of Trump Weren’t Political!’

One inconvenient aspect of creeping senility is that the sufferers often say out loud what is normally filed in the brain file labeled “Never Speak of This, Ever.” And so it is that, as the Washington Post reports,

“In private, Biden has also said he should have picked someone other than Merrick Garland as attorney general, complaining about the Justice Department’s slowness under Garland in prosecuting Trump, and its aggressiveness in prosecuting Biden’s son Hunter, according to multiple people familiar with his comments. [….] Had the Justice Department moved faster to prosecute Trump for allegedly seeking to overturn the 2020 election and mishandling classified documents, they say, the former president might have faced a politically damaging trial before the election.’

Of course, we all knew that the plan was to burden Trump with dubious and politically motivated prosecutions in the year leading up to the election, and with a normal human being, it would have worked, or at least caused him to have a stroke or a breakdown. Instead, the Democratic Party’s “democratic norms”-wrecking strategy alienated Americans who don’t like to see their government acting like the Stasi. It showed a strength of character and fighting spirit that Americans still seek in their leaders. It proved how desperate and hypocritical Trumps foes and adversaries were. But the Axis denied it all—and now the intended beneficiary of the plot to make Donald Trump run for President as a “convicted felon” and “adjudicated rapist” has admitted that a better Attorney General would have nailed Trump before he could get elected.

And Donald Trump was the existential threat to the republic, this same man told us.

Has there ever been a time in our history when an entire political party and all of its voters and supporters so deserved to wear paper bags over their heads in disgrace?

  1. Has there ever been a time in our history when an entire political party and all of its voters and supporters so deserved to wear paper bags over their heads in disgrace?

And here’s the problem – a near total lack in feeling shame, disgrace, or even a little guilt for supporting a system that many of these people feel is completely right in it’s behavior.

I work with people that are completely unable to look at things objectively. They see what has been going on through as perfectly acceptable because they are completely convinced that Trump is truly evil.

Feelings of shame or disgrace are reserved to those who can look inward and reflect on what actions they have taken and realize that mistakes were made. Too many people, regardless of political affiliation, no longer have this ability.

  2. I think they threw shame out when they decided that there was nothing wrong with sleeping around outside of marriage, blowing a paycheck on lottery tickets and cursing around women and children.

  3. Never forget that for the political left “the ends justify the means”; therefore, I think they believe that the only actual mistake they made over the last four years was not achieving their end goal, which was to prevent Donald Trump from being able to run for President by continuous demonizing and criminalizing his very existence. It doesn’t matter to the brainwashed “the ends justify the means” political left one bit that the things they did to demonize and criminalize Trump were unconstitutional, immoral, unethical, system bastardizations, absurd, and just wrong, they see their actions as 100% justified. For those that are consumed by hate, nothing they do to achieve their goal is considered a “mistake” and damn near everything they’ve done for the last eight years was to “Get Trump“, that’s what irrational hate does to people.

Jack asked, “Has there ever been a time in our history when an entire political party and all of its voters and supporters so deserved to wear paper bags over their heads in disgrace?”

No there hasn’t been an equivalent time in our history that I know of.

As far as I know, there has never been a time in our history where an entire political party and all of its supporters have been so gullible and brainwashed by anti-American behaviors and immoral propaganda that they completely flushed all their critical thinking and logic and replaced it with pure emotional hysteria, aka exaggerated, uncontrollable, irrational emotion or excitement that ignores rational thinking.

In their efforts to get Trump, the political left hypocritically became the very thing that they said they were opposed to, an existential threat to the republic, and their Trump Derangement Syndrome hate has psychologically blinded them to that fact.

I firmly believe that history is going to judge this early 21st century political left hate filled cult very unkindly.

    • OBJECTIVE history won’t judge it kindly. There will always be the Obama ass-kissers and the Howard Zinn successors to say that we came very close to perfection, but the only thing that stopped us was a criminal justice system that didn’t move quickly enough to put the greatest villain in all of history (yeah, right) in jail.

    • Speaking of writing or rewriting history…

Kamala Harris. Yes, she lost. But she made a valiant attempt to recast herself as a moderate. She emphasized middle class issues, like housing affordability, she stepped back from some of her earlier hard-left positions and she campaigned with principled conservative Republicans, like Liz Cheney. But it wasn’t enough to outrun her previous California liberal views or Joe Biden’s tragically liberal presidency. Still, Democratic candidates without hard-left baggage can find in her approach a winning formula for the future.”

Kamala Harris recast herself, aka she openly lied about herself and everyone knew she lied, and the author writes that that was “valiant” and somehow a “winning formula for the future“?

      Seriously?

How absurdly pompous can these gaslighting self proclaimed classic liberals, aka faux intellectuals, be?

How will historians actually write the events of this recent Presidential election?

Will they blindly parrot gaslighting like this…

“Kamala Harris. Yes, she lost. But she made a valiant attempt to recast herself as a moderate. She emphasized middle class issues, like housing affordability, she stepped back from some of her earlier hard-left positions and she campaigned with principled conservative Republicans, like Liz Cheney. Still, Democratic candidates without hard-left baggage can find in her approach a winning formula for the future.”

Kamala Harris recast herself, aka she openly lied about herself and everyone knew she lied, and the author writes that that kind of behavior was “valiant” and somehow a “winning formula for the future“ candidates?

          Seriously?

What’s so surprising is, everyone knew Kamala Harris’s campaign was a complete gaslighting lie but over seventy-five million voters chose to vote for her anyway. You can’t fix that kind of stupid.

Also, it appears to me that you’re idea of being principled and mine are on two different planets.

Liz Cheney is far from being a principled conservative Republican. Liz Cheney was/is consumed by her irrational hate for Donald Trump and that hate caused her to flush critical thinking and logic and drove her to abuse her power on the January 6th committee and engage in illegal witness tampering and suppression of relevant facts in an ends justify the means effort to Get Trump. These behaviors and actions don’t make Cheney a principled conservative Republican, they make her an unprincipled immoral hack.

I think it’s interesting that you chose to label what is clearly way out in left field extreme California progressive views as “California liberal views”, there is nothing “liberal” about California’s progressive views, if anything they’re illiberal.

Your paragraph is gaslighting that’s pushing on being delusional.

liberal: 1. willing to respect or accept behavior or opinions different from one’s own; open to new ideas. 2. relating to or denoting a political and social philosophy that promotes individual rights, civil liberties, democracy, and free enterprise.

illiberal: opposed to liberal principles; restricting freedom of thought or behavior.

      • ” . . . principled conservative Republicans, like Liz Cheney.”

That individual owes me a new screen. That anyone could write something that idiotic and still find his/her way out of bed without assistance boggles the mind.

  4. But for the fact that the Firat Amendment disallows it, I would say Trump should seriously consider outlawing the Democratic party when he gets in office, just like a few people advocated for outlawing the GOP in 2008. All the arguments made then still apply: Germany outlawed the Nazi party and Russia outlawed the Communist party, the party abused its power and did harm to the national interests, etc. Unfortunately or fortunately, all the arguments against it also exist: a one party state is not beneficial to the country, the First Amendment disallows restriction of speech or assembly or association, not to mention trying to stamp out those who disagree with you is tyrannical and not what the USA is supposed to be about.

  5. I just read the WAPO article which painted Biden as an unfairly maligned president who sought to restore the norms of the American presidency. It is a complete puff piece which does not even realize that they are admitting wanting the Justice department to damage his political opposition. Every regret is about how he was unable to communicate how wonderful his policies were. What is galling is the fact that in the last line they are admitting in a way that others are running the government. The last line reads, “The White House declined to make Biden available for an interview for this series.”

It is a laugh out loud piece.

    • And this is why, against all logic, the Washington Post is still the worst iconic US Newspaper, and why I have subscribes to the New York Times for over a decade despite WaPo being my hometown rag.

      • Lefty reminds me of protestants in the Reformation. In Holland, it’s called “The Correction.” They went into the churches and literally took hammers to the statuary and artwork. You can see the remnants of their work to this day. The religious fervor Lefty has is just insane. Again, they’ve destroyed organized religion forcing all the energy of crazy religion into the political sphere. I just don’t see a remedy. Maybe Baby Boomers just need to die off. This is what we’ve wrought.
