Ethics Alarms Generally Ignores Michael Moore But a Quote This Unethical and Cretinous Warrants an Exception…

“Who’s really being removed by ICE tonight? The child who would’ve discovered the cure for cancer in 2046? The 9th grade nerd who would’ve stopped that asteroid that’s gonna hit us in 2032? Do we care?”

Yes, activist communist and has-been documentary-maker Michael Moore really and truly made that head-explodingly stupid argument, my candidate for the most ridiculous rationalization for allowing illegal immigrants into the U.S. yet, even topping the “But that poem on the Statue of Liberty!” excuse.

It is so stupid that the theory would be a valuable diagnostic tool on IQ tests. If someone checks the “Sounds good to me!” box, that test-taker’s cognitive ability should automatically be judged as “dangerously impaired.”

As we have explained here many times, consequentialism is the ethical theory for dolts, the concept that a decision or action is right or wrong depending on what happens as a result of it. Moore is saying that an action is unethical or wrong if anything good might have happen if a different choice had be made. I hesitate to give this walking, talking ethics corrupter credit, but he just has to be smarter than to believe that. As usual, Moore is trying to con the dimmer members of the public, a large contingent among Americans who still pay attention to him.

One wag on social media responded to Moore’s insulting question with “Now do abortion.”

Bingo.

  1. One wag on social media responded to Moore’s insulting question with ‘Now do abortion.’ “

The always irreverent Powerline’s at the ready:

    PWS

  2. Yep. The child that might cure cancer or save us from the asteroid is far more likely to have been aborted than deported.

The Left is now almost completely blind to its own hypocrisy.

      “Almost”?

      I’m dead serious, “almost”?!?!?!?!

There is no freaking “almost” about it!

The left’s open hypocrisy is being used as an Orwellian tactic and they know exactly what they’re doing! Their hypocrisy is transparent to anyone with a functioning brain and a shred of critical thinking, and the left’s apparent blindness to it is an intentional part of their gaslighting tactics, i.e. if they don’t acknowledge their hypocrisy then it doesn’t exist in the minds of their followers. Remember the left’s tactics; the political left is preaching to their cultish congregation that political right is the real problem in the USA, and as such nothing the left does is wrong as long as it opposes the right. The hard left has indoctrinated & brainwashed gullible & biased people into completely swallowing whatever narrative they choose to push. Their followers have been trained not to think, they simply accept, as fact, whatever feeds their bias, they are FULLY BLIND no “almost completely blind” about their hypocrisy. What’s been happening is a perfect example of 64. Yoo’s Rationalization or “It isn’t what it is” i.e. pure gaslighting. They’ve been actively engaging in this Orwellian bull shit tactic for at least the last 15+ years. The left doesn’t care one damn bit if they’re seen as openly hypocritical or “almost completely blind to its own hypocrisy” by their opposition as long as they can continue to use it as a tactical gaslighting political and social tool to corrupt minds and make more Orwellian cultish sheeple; they truly are morally bankrupt.

“Almost”? Nope, I’m not buying it.

      That’s my opinion.

  3. Actually how does deportation impact a child’s ability to do those things as an adult. Is he saying he can only achieve that by being here. He must have a low opinion of educational systems elsewhere.

  4. As opposed to aborted children who can’t accomplish anything anywhere because they’re dead.

And I’m sure he would also deny American exceptionalism so the irony of believing they can only become scientists here is glaring.

    • NICE catch. Given the U.S. is an abomination, why do lefties want people from other, diverse, culturally superior countries to live in a hell hole?

  5. That does have to be one of the most astoundingly stupid arguments for “immigration” I’ve ever seen. But just to play the left’s idiot games, and channel Godwin for a good cause:
A certain Austrian immigrated to Germany in 1913. It didn’t work out well for a number of people.
