Unethical Quote of the Week: Jeffrey (Ew!) Toobin

“This criminal crusade against political adversaries is completely unprecedented in all of American history.”

—CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin (and why is he still allowed on the air by an allegedly respectable news network?) regarding the so-called Trump revenge plot against Democrats.

It is amazing that any journalist, pundit, progressive or Democrat would have the gall to say that. It is true that weaponizing the justice system to attack, hobble, and eliminate political foes is a totalitarian tactic that the United States had been wise to avoid, but if there was ever a valuable “democratic norm” the Left must take full responsibility for shattering, it is this one. “Unprecedented!” Incredible.

I would say “You’ve gotta hand it to Toobin,” but that would lead me into a joke that I would hate myself for making…

Democrats and their allies went unrestrained full force in their efforts to criminalize Republican, conservatives and MAGA allies in particular during the Biden Administration. Among their targets were Donald Trump (in 4 separate jurisdictions), Rudy Giuliani, Mark Meadows, John Eastman, Sidney Powell, George Santos, Jeff Fortenberry, Steve Bannon, Peter Navarro, Kenneth Chesebro, Jenna Ellis, Jeffrey Clark, Boris Epshteyn. Christina Bobb. Mike Roman and the J-6 rioters, who were held to completely different standards than the Black Lives Matters “mostly peaceful” demonstrators who did far more damage over a much longer period.

The Axis of Unethical Conduct killed the “norm’ of not seeking to prosecute political adversaries, established the precedent that the Trump Administration is embracing, and while I think this is a terrible development that we will learn to regret as a nation, I will not countenance complaints about it from Democrats. They broke it, and they asked for this. No sympathy here at all.

  1. A Democrat without hypocrisy and double-standards no longer exists in the world.

Now we can add “without shame” to that…

  2. Don’t forget when Obama’s IRS was targeting non-profit groups political organizations whose names suggested that they were conservative-leaning.
