Unethical Quote of the Month: MSNBC’s Jen Psaki

“Prayer is not freaking enough. Prayer does not end school shootings. Prayers do not make parents feel safe sending their kids to school. Prayer does not bring these kids back. Enough with the thoughts and prayers.”

—-Former Biden paid liar (no, not her, the smart one) Jen Psaki, now an MSNBC propagandist, joining in the mandatory Axis spin following another mass shooting.

For some reason a memo went out from Totalitarian Central in the Axis network telling all loyalists to attack the obligatory references to prayer after two children were killed and more than a dozen others were injured this week when a shooter opened fire during Mass at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis.

Psaki’s anti-prayer outburst on Twitter along with several other progressive anti-gun demagogues can go in to a dictionary definition of “straw man.” Nobody suggested that prayers were sufficient to address mass shootings and criminal gun violence. Nobody suggested that praying would bring the dead back either. Nor does anyone seriously believe that the victims were killed because they were praying: churches and schools have become crime scenes of choice by the murderously deranged because those are places that ban or prohibit fire arms, so a law-abiding gun owner is not as likely to be around to stop the carnage. Never mind: the Usual Suspects were instructed (no, I don’t think it is a coincidence) to denigrate Americans of faith—after all, too many of them support Evil President Trump.

“These children were probably praying when they were shot to death at Catholic school. Don’t give us your fucking thoughts and prayers. Trump got rid of the Office of Gun Violence and Prevention. Trump gutted the resources that were in place to keep our communities safe,” Rep. Maxwell Frost, D-Fla., wrote on social media. Good one, Max! There is no evidence that the Office of Gun Violence and Prevention prevented any gun violence or could: it was just another “do something” waste of government funds. Meanwhile, WHAT resources “that keep communities safe”? Frost didn’t say, because anything he said would be idiotic or a lie. He did get a chance to say “fuck,” though, since that proves that a Democrat is serious.

Jeff Timmer of the Lincoln Project (Is that still around?) attacked Sen. Lindsey Graham for saying he was praying for the Minneapolis community. “The kids were praying when they died. How’d that work out, you obsequious coward? Now, fuck off,” Timmer wrote. Oooh, “fuck” again! Those anti-gun people must really be dedicated. “Thoughts and prayers, I’m so beyond that nonsense. The lie of that,” said “MS”‘s house Republican Michael Steele. Prayers are a lie! Funny, I don’t think Steele made that clear when he was campaigning in black communities while running for Governor of Maryland.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, in a press conference, told reporters, “Don’t just say this is about thoughts and prayers right now: these kids were literally praying.” He literally has no idea if they were praying or not: is he saying that if they were, it proves that prayers are useless? That there is no God? What’s his point? Oh, you know: it’s that we need to DO SOMETHING even though he couldn’t name a single something that would be legal and constitutional that would have any more effect on mass shootings than prayers. Similarly, Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), whose photo I have to include as at least some evidence that she should not be taken seriously—

—-said in a post on X, “Thoughts & prayers are not enough—Congress must act to stop gun violence.” Act and do what, Senator? Profile Americans and take away their civil rights as a pre-crime measure? Make it difficult for law abiding Americans to purchase guns to protect themselves against the crazies? Confiscate guns, going house to house? How can Congress “act” to prevent gun violence? If you had any answer to that question, you would have answered it.

The truth is that the ephemeral “common sense gun reforms” that these hacks and others talk about will have no more effect on reducing deranged schools shootings than prayers, and who knows?

Maybe less…

Meanwhile, the Axis media has been spinning like mad to try to make the Minnesota shooting about guns rather than crazy progressives being driven to violence by the atmosphere of hate the Left has been fostering. One of the shooter’s magazines bore the message “kill Donald Trump,” but ABC News only reported that the shooter had written “the name of President Trump” on the firearms. (That’s deceit…a lie by omission.) MS suggested the shooter had not been motivated by his/her documented hatred of Christians and conservatives but by his upbringing, the aftereffects of the pandemic, and video games.

USA Today neglected to mention the attacker’s transgender status, but instead cited a study that concluded that most church shootings were committed by perpetrators with a history of racism, anti-Semitism, anti-Christianity and Islamophobia, with ties to white supremacist and neo-Nazi groups,” none of which have any relevance to this church shooting.

  1. You’re right. It’s not just “thoughts and prayer”. It’s the Benedictine motto of “Work and Prayer”. But…..

More than that, all these commentors also insult one the basic beliefs of Catholicism. This death in this world is not ceasing to exist. It is a transition to eternal life. We value this life as a gift from God. But, we know it’s not this life. They are so busy banging on the anti-Trump drum that they will insult children.

This is precisely why my church and many others have formed armed security teams to protect members and other attendees. Our team of volunteer church members are trained to identify and respond to a variety of armed and unarmed threats. We carry concealed weapons and take great effort to be a low-key as possible. We have a comprehensive manual of security protocols, policies and procedures.

Since about half of reported church shootings have begun outside, usually in the parking lot, we have team members designated as “walkers” to patrol the parking lot and other outside spaces to identify threats, communicate with the team and initiate a response.

Inside the building, we have team members designated as a “welcoming committee” for any threats that make it inside the entrance. There are other team members tactically positioned inside the main auditorium during services to provide an additional layer of security. (We also have other church members who carry concealed but are not part of the security team, as is their right, but they let us know who they are.

The history of church shootings shows that, in order to keep the casualty count (injured or killed) in single digits, the shooter must be confronted and neutralized within thirty seconds. That’s right; if the shooter is allowed more than thirty seconds to shoot people, then there will likely bejjj ten or more shot (whether or not they are killed is largely a matter of moral luck).

Our security team is activated for every church function, not just Sunday and Wednesday services. We recently wrapped up a very successful Vacation Bible School that involved six security team members for the entire five nights. The number of team members involved varies with the size of the function, normally between two and eight.

We are a rural church with a membership of just over 200. We have never had a church shooting incident, but we plan and practice like we expect one any day. We are fortunate to have several retired law enforcement personnel in our membership who form the backbone of the team and share the benefit of their extensive training.

And we still pray, before and after every church function and team meeting/training session.

  3. if they are complaining that thoughts and prayer don’t work, when will they realize that “reasonable gun reforms” won’t work either?

and heaven forbid that someone explain that there is a non-negligible probability that those children were praying for the souls of the unborn victims of abortion at the time they were killed. [KABOOM!]

  4. Is transgenderism the elephant in the room that needs to be discussed in relation to the shooting? This guy clearly had mental issues, and his gender issues were related as he indicated that he was brainwashed into it, and he expressed unhappiness with his transition in his manifesto. This is also not the first mass shooting involving somebody who is transgender, as the school shooter in Nashville was also transgender. Progressives and the main stream media are trying not to notice the elephant; conservative news outlets and pundits are explicitly highlighting the issue.

Hostility against Christianity was one of the motives behind the shooting. The coordinated messaging of the progressives (including Frey, Klobuchar, Psaki) about the futility of prayer indicates similar hostility.to Christianity. Does TDS and extreme progressive narratives on things like gender foster a climate that makes school shootings more likely?

    • I suggest we petition Rep Rosa De Lauro to sponsor a bill that bans persons on puberty blockers, and hormonal treatments as well as those claiming gender dysphoria from obtaining guns. I would love to see her reaction – Just imagine red flames coming through the lenses of those green framed glasses silhouetting her purple hair.

Obviously those on puberty blockers would be ineligible due to age anyway but the language is necessary for effect.

If she will not do that she cannot claim she is trying to do something.

      • Perhaps incorrectly, I assume the DNC has a massive talking point generation and distribution entity. They’ve perfected the talking point memo and their adherents in the party and the media recite them religiously. And when it comes to talking points, they pay attention to them and obey. I think they consider this good party “discipline.” I consider it demeaning and mindless and annoying.

  5. Gun control is a dead issue. The right needs guns to protect themselves from the left. The left is violent, insane, brainwashed and did I mention violent. The right isn’t stupid and isn’t listening to the propaganda anymore. They have been arming up to protect themselves for the last decade and the left has zero chance of prying that protection from their hands. They can shriek hysterically all they like, but the civil war is basically out in the open at this point. Once it becomes obvious you are in a civil war, only the dumbest of the dumbest willingly disarm themselves. Shrieking and calling your enemies enemies ain’t gonna get you the disarmament of those enemies.

At least we have guns and won’t be easy targets like over there in Great Britain.

”Gun control” is nothing but shallow, obvious nonsense at this point. But please, dear leftists, continue disarming yourself. That will make this Cold War easier to win if you cannot violence rampantly.

  6. Also largely unexplored, at least to my knowledge, is the correlation between active shooters and psychotropic medications, which seem to be handed out like candy these days.

    • Jim Hodgson wrote, “Also largely unexplored, at least to my knowledge, is the correlation between active shooters and psychotropic medications, which seem to be handed out like candy these days.”

That could be true in part, but I don’t remember the side effects of psychotropic medications being publicly disclosed as being contributing factors in mass shootings.

On the other hand; I have certainly gotten the distinct impression from public rhetoric that when you place a demonically possessed firearm in the hands of an angry white male they turn into a mass murderer, I think it has something to do with toxic masculinity and actual physical contact with a firearm. The rhetoric seems to coincide with the delusional comedic thinking represented in the Looney Tunes episode titled “Bugs’ Bonnets” where a truck from the “Acme Theatrical Hat Co.” spills its cargo of hats into the woods, leading Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd to change personalities depending on which headgear they wear, yup that’s how the delusional left seems to think about firearms; “Looney Tunes” seems to accurately depict this kind of delusional thinking quite well.

Are white males responsible for the majority of murder in the U.S.?

        • Michael T Ejercito asked, “Are white males responsible for the majority of murder in the U.S.?”

I think the correct answer to the question you actually asked is no; however, when looking only at mass shootings in the USA I thing the answer would be yes.

          • when looking only at mass shootings in the USA I thing the answer would be yes.”

Out of six (6) racial demographic groups (White, Asian, Hispanic, American Indian, black, and Middle Eastern), only two (2) are over-represented in mass shootings; it’s the last two (2).

72% of mass shooters have no political affiliation, but by far the largest politically affiliated group (over twice the 2nd place Liberals) are Islamic Extremists.

Only one (1) Religiously Affiliated Group (Christian, Jew, Muslim, Non-Christian sects) is over-represented; the Religion of Peace©™®.

The beautiful theory that Mass Shooters are EVIL White Supremacists is slain by ugly facts.

    • I am curious to know if there is a relation between violence and the use of hormone blockers. The shooter allegedly wanted to detransition, so he may have stopped using hormone blockers.

  7. I think all this anti-prayer nonsense is a coordinated distraction.

The Left wants us talking about how horrible they are, and ignoring the fact that “trans” people are mentally ill, and far too often for their percentage of society descend into murderous despair. The thing is, killing one person does not seem to be cathartic enough for them.

The Left knows this too, but they want to drive the narrative to be about their “influencers” rather than the aforementioned mentally ill persons with gender dysphoria. Of course, most of the Left are also irreligious and even anti-religion except when they run for office or want something. When convenient, they often invoke Jesus — Judge not, unconditional love, anything he said that sounds vaguely socialist out of context or seems to support things like gun control — the list seems endless.

Transgenders are integral to their cult of identity. They can’t afford for people to look at them as mentally ill, because it calls into question everything they stand for these days.

Psaki’s quote is unethical for many reasons, but perhaps the most important is that it is intended to bait low-attention conservatives into looking at a shiny outrage that is completely beside the point of instant problem.

          • This is correct. The resistance – Democrats and their allies in the news media, the entertainment industry, academia and other elite institutions – are bigoted against religious believers, Christianity in particular. They are coordinating their attacks here just as they are coordinating their attacks on Trump, et al. The memo went out. They are now doing openly what they used to do more subtly. There’s no more of the “I respect your beliefs but I don’t share them” nonsense (They never respected the beliefs). They are attacking the believers for not doing what their religion does not call them to do and for doing what their religion does call them to do.

              • Some of it stems from the Enlightenment that inspired our Founding Fathers and the liberal democracy tradition. Our culture was and still is significantly influenced by Enlightenment thought which began questioning theology.

However, the benefits of religious belief were still recognized by the Founders and TPTB since that time, if only to discourage crime and other societal ills in our citizens.

In the 20th century; however, the idea that government could and should provide for all citizens, thus negating the need for religious belief which they believed had already been disproven anyway by Darwin, was seized upon by the left (and certainly the far left). Much of their influence can be seen in the bureaucracy of the New Deal.

These Brain Trust academics infiltrated universities later and became some of the instigators of the student protest movement. For decades, they quietly indoctrinated increasingly-ignorant students in leftist cant.

At the same time, avoiding saying the quiet part loud was practiced in academia, journalism, the entertainment industry and other traditionally progressive institutions until it became safe to openly practice bigotry against religious believers.

    • My impression is that Psaki’s comment shows the same contempt for conservatives as Barack Obama’s comment in 2008 where he suggested that that some small-town voters in Pennsylvania expressed their frustrations by “clinging to guns or religion, or antipathy to people who aren’t like them, or anti-immigrant sentiment, or anti-trade sentiment”.
