Yesterday we had one more flagrant example of how completely useless our news sources have become in letting the public know what is happening in the nation and the world so they can be responsible citizens. Well, I guess they are not useless to progressives, Democrats and leftist totalitarians, because the biased and distorted stories, reports and interviews they spew out daily does keep citizens in the dark (where “democracy dies,” sayeth the Washington Post. Silly me, I once thought the Post meant that was a bad thing.) On the August 31, 2025 “Face the Nation,” host Ed O’Keefe interviewed Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem about the American Left’s latest martyr, “Maryland Dad” Kilmar Abrego García. What the audience heard was this:
Ed O’Keefe: “One of the most high profile examples of someone who’s been rounded up by ICE in recent months is Kilmar Abrego Garcia, and the fate of his situation is still up in the air. He’s awaiting trial on human smuggling charges set for January in Tennessee, but your department is also working to get him deported to Uganda. If he broke the law in this country, as the administration alleges, shouldn’t he be held here and face charges here instead of being deported?”
Kristi Noem: “Well, prosecution decisions are always made by the Department of Justice and in Pam Bondi’s department, so we will let them do that. Although this individual does have criminal charges pending. He has charges pending against him civilly as well, and the one thing that we will continue to do is to make sure that he doesn’t walk free in the United States of America.”
O’Keefe: “But I heard you say that we’re going to let the Justice Department do that. Does this mean that… does this mean that…does that mean the push to deport him to Uganda is off?”
Noem: Oh, we will still continue to pursue all options. We will make sure that he’s not released into this country. So regardless of that, yes, absolutely, he’s not an American citizen, and he shouldn’t be here, and especially because of his dangerous criminal activities, we should ensure that we leave every avenue on the table.
O’Keefe: “Got it.”
The CBS host “got it” all right, and CBS decided the viewers didn’t need to “get it” because “it” might make them understand that this illegal immigrant, whom the U.S. has spent many thousands of dollars to try to get out of a country he has no right to be in, isn’t just another “good illegal immigrant,” a “Maryland Dad” in current Axis-speak, that the fascist, xenophobic, racist Donald Trump is trying to deport. Between the two statements by Noem that CBS aired, she also said,
“This individual was a known human smuggler, MS-13 gang member, an individual who was a wife beater and someone who was so perverted that he solicited nude photos from minors and even his fellow human traffickers told him to knock it off. He was so sick in what he was doing and how he was treating small children, so he needs to never be in the United States of America, and our administration is making sure we’re doing all that we can to bring him to justice.*
That part was cut. Superfluous, you know. Not relevant to the story.
The Axis of Unethical Conduct (that’s EA shorthand for “the resistance,” the Democrats and its captive journalists) kept spreading the lie—and is is a lie—that President Trump sued CBS and “60 Minutes” because it broadcast content that “he didn’t like.” No, he sued them—and got a settlement—because the network and its flagship news magazine tried to pull Kamala Harris across the finish line into the White House by secretly editing an interview to make her seem like less of an incoherent, babbling fool than she really is.
It was attempted election interference, an illegal in-kind contribution to the Harris campaign and smoking gun evidence that today’s journalists are indeed, as Trump said in perhaps his most important quote, “enemies of the people.” That was deception, not journalism, and so was the manipulation of what Noem said this morning on “Face the Nation.”
To expand on the headline above a bit: those friends, social media buddies and others who insist, in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, that the news media isn’t biased, if they aren’t morons, want the news media to be biased to “save democracy.” This is a perversion of our values, the exact opposite of what the Founders, particularly Jefferson and Madison, insisted was journalism’s indispensable role in a functioning democracy: to ensure an informed, civically literate and engaged voting public. “Printing presses shall be subject to no other restraint than liableness to legal prosecution for false facts printed and published, ” wrote Thomas Jefferson in his draft of the Virginia Constitution in1783. Is a deliberately misleading interview a “false fact”? Sure it is.
The Trump administration should sue CBS again.

Jack wrote, “The Trump administration should sue CBS again.”
I agree.
This was a very intentional lie by omission to misrepresent the story so they could maintain their anti-Trump narrative that Kilmar Abrego Garcia is just another good immigrant family man minding his own business that the xenophobic Trump wants to deport.
Absolutely.
Look, I understand that a great many people don’t like the Trump Administration…can’t stand it…loathe it. Those great many people also can’t stand President Trump himself.
But it’s hard for me to take that hatred with an “Extradimensional Cephalopod” level of seriousness when those people appear to collect a vast majority of their information from news sources that purposely withhold/alter the content so that it feeds their hatred.
And deny that such sources deliberately withhold/alter the content.
Like my Trump-deranged sister who went to Washington D.C. last month before the National Guard was activated. She posted the other day about how she walked alone in that beautiful city and was perfectly safe without the Guard.
Because anecdotal evidence is the best!
I bet she was really was in Chicago, walking with Pritzker…
