See? Rosie O’Donnell Does Have Her Uses After All!

Bitter, ignorant, blindly-progressive has-been actress/comic/talk show hostess Rosie O’Donnell at this point is a D list celebrity not even worthy of Ethics Dunce status. Donald Trump has kept O’Donnell’s relevance on life support by not being able to resist insulting her periodically, one more example of his impulse-control malady. (Is a national leader with impulse control issues a serious problem? Of course it is. If the Democrats had based their campaign against him on that rather than the “existential threat to democracy” lie, I would have less contempt for them.)

But Rosie has her uses, like the book Lucy wrote in a memorable episode of “I Love Lucy”: a publisher wanted to use it as an example of how not to write a novel. Rosie O’Donnell just demonstrated the real perils of Stage 5 Trump Derangement. You see, it makes you look like a vicious, biased idiot.

The mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minnesota last week killing two children aged 8 and 10 and wounding fifteen other children aged six to 15 and three parishioners in their 80s inspired O’Donnell to post a video in which she said, “Saw about the Minnesota shooting, and it brought me right back to Columbine in 1999 when I just could not get it through my head that students in America were shooting each other in schools. What do you know? It was a white guy, Republican, MAGA person. What do you know? White supremacists.”

Well, Rosie was right about the shooter being white. Not exactly a guy, though. Not Republican, not MAGA, not white supremacist, and no news reports suggested any of those things about the lunatic. But Rosie, like so many of The Deranged, now assumes that 1) anything bad must be the fault or connected to President Trump, Republicans, MAGA and conservatives, just as they believe that 2) nothing President Trump, Republicans, MAGA and conservatives do, want, believe, support or participate in can be anything but malign.

This is what hate, lies, propaganda, the Axis media, their own weakness of logic and their inability to battle the biases that make them stupid have wrought. Rosie’s completely fact-free outburst is a wonderful cautionary tale. To quote the title of the proposed how-to book that Lucy’s tome was going to be featured in, “Don’t Let This Happen to You.”

O’Donnell was skewered so thoroughly by her social media followers that she issued an apology video after pulling the first one. Two days ago, O’Donnell posted another video admitting she was wrong about the shooter’s political identity.

“I knew a lot of you were very upset about the video I made before I went away for a few days,” she said, adding that had not had time to read through the comments until Sunday. “You are right. I did not do my due diligence before I made that emotional statement, and I said things about the shooter that were incorrect. I assumed, like most shooters, they followed a standard MO and had standard, you know, feelings of… you know, NRA-loving kind of gun people,” O’Donnell continued. “Anyway, the truth is I messed up, and when you mess up, you fess up. I’m sorry. This is my apology video and I hope it’s enough.”

Enough to what? Not enough to dispel the conclusion that she is a bigot and a hate-filled fool. Even her apology includes more biased and lazy conclusions. “Most” mass shooters, indeed all, are crazy, but they are otherwise motivated by different ideas and triggering events. “Most” are not NRA members, as one would assume that someone who loves the NRA would be paying dues.

Yes, Rosie is still an idiot, but this time her Trump Derangement made it more obvious than ever.

Don’t let this happen to you.

  1. it can never happento me since I a not crazy.

We ahve a group of crazies here in athens Albama. they are middle age white folks who park their new modleled gasoline cars on our street. they then walk to a nearby overpass for I65 waving placards about “regime” ” Kings” “taking our constituion back” supporting “all humans since humanity is not illegal” .calling for the restoration of the EPA; “womens rights.”

Did I mention they are all white, not one non white face, in the crowd of dissenters for thier potpouri of issues.

After about an hour or so , before it gets to hot, they return t their cars. each entering into their individual cars to head to their gated communities. None of them even thought of carpooling to save the planet.

  2. What is most amusing is her claim “. . .I assumed, like most shooters, they followed a standard MO and had standard, you know, feelings of… you know, NRA-loving kind of gun people.”

Does she realize that many of the recent shooters were trans or non-binary. Perhaps someone should point out that part of the “MO”.

    • It’s a psychological variant of Stockholm Syndrome, but with a significant twist: the fear of the captor, for example, in a kidnapping is rationale; fear of the great oppressed is less so. Deep down, liberals feel guilt because, by and large, they are more childish, more angry, more selfish, less caring, and tend to act these out more overtly; unbridled anger leads to irrational fears, which — because it’s irrational — is calmed by irrational attacks on the oppressors, never coming to terms with the fact that they are themselves — or at least have been — the oppressors. Note: This answer to your question was brought to you by Martel Blue Swift cognac.

  3. Anthony Hopkins once said, “I don’t have any opinions. Actors are pretty stupid. My opinion is not worth anything.”

I wish more actors would realize that truth. Rosie, at least, recognized she was spurred on by emotion and hadn’t gotten the facts right. Most everyone else would have rationalized such misinformation as, “Well, it wasn’t a MAGA-type this time, but it’s still important to raise awareness of white supremacy and guns!” Or just outright denied the facts.

      • I’m trying to figure out where that goes on the EA Apology Scale. Rosie only apologized to, as i read it, her social media fans, not the people—conservatives, NRA members, white people, Republicans—whom she assumed were responsible for a mass shooting in a school.

        • Maybe a new variation of #9 is needed? She did acknowledge that it was her fault for misleading her fans but not to the actual targets of her original outburst. Otherwise, I might believe a coerced version of 1-4 would be appropriate, save that I doubt there are significant pressures on Rosie to apologize to make it a true coerced apology. Maybe she really is trying to be better but hasn’t quite reached the point where her emotions will allow her to be fair to “MAGA-types”.
