Nah, There’s No “Deep State”…

Among the furious “It isn’t what it is” gaslighting that the Mad Left routinely engages in—“Nah, there’s no mainstream media bias!”; “Nah, Biden wasn’t suffering from dementia in the White House, he was sharp as a tack!”; “Nah, Kamala Harris wasn’t a DEI nominee!”; “Nah, there’s no such thing as the Antifa!” and so on, and so on—the Trump Deranged refuse to admit that there is an embedded progressive “Deep State” (and often not so deep) that set out to sabotage Trump in his first term and to do everything possible to prevent his re-election in 2020.

One of many metaphorical smoking guns regarding the efforts of the Deep State was the organized effort by U.S. intelligence officials to make certain that the evidence of Biden family influence peddling on Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop was discredited and avoided by the Axis media prior to the 2020 election. Shortly after The New York Post’s broke the story in October 2020 51 then current and former intelligence officials signed an open letter challenging the authenticity of the laptop.

Though they had no direct knowledge of the situation, the 51 abused their positions, authority and intelligence credentials to undermine The Post’s reporting weeks before the 2020 election. Politico’s headline was typical of how the letter was interpreted by the news media and the public :“Hunter Biden story is Russian disinfo, dozens of former intel officials say.” Twitter banned the Post’s story from its platform. During the second 2020 presidential debate held on October 22, 2020, Joe Biden repeated the narrative, saying, “Look, there are 50 former national intelligence folks who said that what he’s accusing me of is a Russian plan!” (Fact check? Of course not.) Biden later repeated the claim in a “60 Minutes” interview held on October 25, 2020. No fact check then, either. Mission accomplished! The letter did its job (it worked) and Biden was elected.

Of course, we now know it was the letter that was disinformation and that it was the Deep State, Intelligence Division, spreading it. One of the signatories was former CIA Director John Brennan. Lately he has been confronted about his participation in the public deception at least twice, with a similar reaction both times caught on video. You see one above. Here’s another:

As several wags have commented, “When the facts don’t support you, pound on the table and shout.” Brennan’s defense is that deceit isn’t lying. But deceit is just a particularly insidious kind of lie. In this case, the intent was to make the public think the laptop was “Russian disinformation.” The laptop had “all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation,” the letter said. “There are a number of factors that make us suspicious of Russian involvement. Such an operation would be consistent with Russian objectives, as outlined publicly and recently by the Intelligence Community, to create political chaos in the United States and to deepen political divisions here,” they wrote. Cute. This is like a publication saying that a Hollywood leading man has all the tell-tale signs of a closeted gay man, with the intention of making the public suspects that he is gay. Then, if confronted, the publication will say, “We never asserted or suggested that he was gay!” which is technically true.

And so Brennan, confronted with his participation in the pro-Biden disinformation effort, erupted, “You misrepresented that!” at conservative national security consultant Thomas Speciale. “We never said it was disinformation; we said it [looked like] Russian influence operations, which is what they do. There’s a big difference,” he added.

Just like there’s a big difference between intelligence officers working to undermine the elected President who oversees their agencies because they support his political opponent and the Democratic Party, and a Deep State.

  1. Two points

    • There is probable cause that these 51 intelligence agents violated campaign finance laws. The FEWC should investigate if they are not doing so already.
    • The laptop contained exculpatory evidence in favor of Trump during the first impeachment, and the FBI withheld it. That was a Brady violation and the DoJ should investigate.
  2. I never understood why people ever trusted 51 current and former intelligence agents. Their job is to lie and deceive.
also, any of those “current” agents should have been fired for incompetence if they endorsed that falsehood. They were either lying, or incompetent
