Ethics Hero: Singer Tish Hyman

In an ethics seminar I recently described how conduct could be legal but unethical (example: lying) and ethical but illegal (civil disobedience). Singer Trish Hyman decided that a little disturbance of the peace in a Gold’s Gym’s cafe area was the best way to draw attention to the gym’s unethical (and stupid….but woke, so it’s okay) practices regarding dangling penises in women’s changing rooms, so she shouted out her complaint raucously and made sure it was recorded.

The Beverly Center Gold’s Gym revoked the singer’s membership after she complained that a transgender wannabe woman (“with a big dick”) being in the women’s dressing room. “Today I was naked in the locker room. I turned around, and there was a man there. Boy clothes, lip gloss, standing there looking at me, and I’m butt naked,” Hyman said in a video posted on TikTok.

When she questioned the self-identified female’s presence, she was told, “I am a woman and have a right to be in here!” Hyman wrote on X: “#goldsgym terminated my membership after the MAN was escorted out by police. Then had me escorted out by officers afterwards. It was EMBARRASSING! I left but not before making sure everyone KNEW that they were allowing MEN in the locker room!!!!!”

Now the gym is getting fried on social media, and, I’m sure, so is Hyman. But she is right to protest, and Riley Gaines, the former swimmer who is fighting the participation of trans athletes in women’s sports, is right as well. Hyman is fulfilling the duty of confront, as well as embodying the American ideal of refusing to be mistreated and abused. Brava! No weenie she.

Come to think of it, instead of “No Kings” I would support a national “No Weenies!” protest. It would be doubly appropriate in this case.

I confess that on at least two occasions I have staged a similar “Stand in the middle of the establishment and scream your head off” display, and with great satisfaction. When sufficiently provoked, it is a very liberating experience, and I recommend it highly.

  1. That was awesome with a capital “A,” baby! Respect.

Women, please, for the love of God, stand up for yourselves, your womanhood, and your privacy. Don’t let men wave their dangly bits in your faces in your locker rooms.

And if you choose to allow it, well, don’t look for sympathy from me when one of them turns out to be a fake trannie and puts those dangly bits where you really don’t want them.

You have been warned, again and again. One of these days, it will be the sexual equivalent of “Pow! Right in the kisser!”

  2. Maybe a technicality, but it’s worth mentioning that roughly 10 days ago, EoS Fitness took over this and ~28 SoCal Gold’s Gym locations. While the name on the door of this gym franchise might still say “Gold’s Gym”, the company to direct complaints to would be EoS Fitness.

That said, the response by Gold’s Gym in pointing this out was still pretty weasely; in which they said “our own policy is to comply with state and federal laws” which I took to mean that even if they were the operator of the location, the result probably would have been the same.
