Unethical Quote of the Day: LA Mayor Karen Bass

“Well, in a way, I think it’s sad….”

—-Astoundingly incompetent LA Mayor Karen Bass, on CNN’s  “The Situation Room” with Wolf Blitzer

She was responding to a CNN report about Hispanic-Americans joining I.C.E. in record numbers. Knowing Bass (see this infuriating idiot’s EA dossier here) and the pro-illegal immigration party she belongs to, can you guess why LA’s woke Mayor thinks the development is “sad”?

Why, they’re betraying their own kind, you see! You know, like when inner city blacks tell police about murderers, muggers and rapists in their neighborhood who are the same color they are. Imagine doing that to your “own kind”!

Bass was asked to react to responses from Hispanic I.C.E. agents when CNN correspondent David Culver asked their reaction to critics who accuse them of opposing their “own kind” or “own blood.” “They didn‘t come in the right way. So, they aren‘t “my kind,” 20-year-old Border Patrol recruit Juan Peralta said.

What a great answer. Now do Bass.

Border Patrol Agent Claudio Herrera also had the right response. “I’m protecting my community,” the agent said. “I’m protecting both sides of the border.”

Bass, predictably, doesn’t see it that way. After pronouncing it sad that Hispanics believe that they are American citizens first and not bound to be loyal to criminals from the same countries of origin, she added, “I think that those Border Patrol agents are going to have a difficult time when they’re out in the field and they see what actually happens in real life separate from their training. But I do understand that their primary incentive is financial. I think it just speaks to the financial situation that millions of Americans find themselves in. And I definitely am concerned about that report.”

You have to admit, that’s pretty deft flipping into the DNC talking point on “affordability.” Dishonest and nauseating, but deft.

One has to believe that a substantial proportion of Hispanic Americans have the wisdom to be insulted by Bass’s insinuation that the main reason one of them would want to assist in crucial law enforcement is financial. And what exactly did this incompetent mayor mean by “what actually happens in real life separate from their training”? That LA citizens who support Bass will be spitting on them and throwing things? That all those “good illegal immigrants” will express “sadness” at having to finally face accountability for breaking the law?

Bass, Mamdani, Brandon Johnson, Michelle Woo, Murial Bowser. What a rogues gallery of Democratic mayors our major cities have assembled!

  1. “But I do understand that their primary incentive is financial. I think it just speaks to the financial situation that millions of Americans find themselves in. And I definitely am concerned about that report.”

Mere projection. Another Democratic Party tactic. Bass wilfully ignores the financial motivation behind the mass immigration of people coming across the border in violation of our laws. The better life isn’t acceptance of American values, such as respect for individual liberty. It’s to get money.

  2. Assuming the Hispanic ICE agents are bilingual, they’ll probably be able to communicate more easily with potential detainees than non-Hispanic ICE agents who learned Spanish as a second language. Both groups would benefit from a short, intensive course in “Law Enforcement Spanish” as part of their training, though, for the specialized vocabulary which the trainees may not have used on a regular basis prior to the ICE training.

  3. This is the same problem the UK ran into when trying to police Ireland and later Northern Ireland. The Catholic community saw Catholics joining the RIC and later RUC (now the PSNI) as a betrayal of their people, to whom the only acceptable outcome was a united independent Ireland. So, they harassed any Catholic who joined the force. Of course, then they complained the force was biased because there weren’t enough Catholics on it. To this day, policing in Northern Ireland is still majority-Protestant, even though the hope for a unified Ireland vanished in 1998 with the Good Friday Agreement. It will probably take at least another generation before the die-hards and bitter-enders are completely gone.

In a lot of ways this is even more ridiculous. The Catholic Irish at least had the excuse of being the original people and the original faith of their land…800 years ago…and viewing the Protestants and Scots-Irish and so on as interlopers and apostates. If they choose not to let it go and refuse to accept anyone as Irish who wasn’t born in Ireland with 100% Celtic blood, then that’s their prerogative, even though at this point it’s cutting off their nose to spite their face. The Hispanic Americans are for the most part NOT the original people of the Americas and definitely not the original people of this nation. There are SOME Hispanics here who are citizens of this nation and have been from the time they were born, and others who have gone through all the requirements to become citizens of this nation. Their first allegiance should be and usually is to this nation, not to those who share similar heritage or skin color or language. There is no reason they should not be able to join the policing agencies of this nation if they so choose or if they decide it represents an opportunity. No one has the right to call them a betrayer of anyone for doing that, least of all a non-Hispanic mayor who can’t even take care of the community she swore to protect, or have we all forgotten the fires a year ago that she was in Africa during?

This is just a transfer of the black attitude that they should look the other way on crimes by people who share the same color and not only not join the policing agencies, but not cooperate with the existing agents. THEN they complain that law enforcement doesn’t understand them. The sooner Karen Bass is out of office, and the sooner we get rid of more of these crazy left mayors, the better.

    • Steve, I’ve recently learned the Scots, Irish, Welsh, Cornish and even the people of Brittany are ALL Celts! The English considered the Scots and Irish equally inferior and contemptible.

      • Yes, I’m aware of that. The English looked down on them, even though they were themselves not native to Britain. The Scots, who eventually became majority Protestant, were taken into the firm. The Irish were treated like the conquered people they were, until their bottom of the ladder status was cemented into law by Cromwell and others. They were starting to move away from that and even talk about home rule until the process got derailed by WWI.

  4. “…what actually happens in real life separate from their training”

Oh, you mean Obama’s Operation Fast and Furious and the gunwalking scandal that contributed to the death of border agent Brian Terry?
