“The Great Stupid” Meets Trump Derangement: Two Quotes

[Just thought I would re-post a past example of the “logic” and level of analogies being embraced by I.C.E. protesters…]

Quote #1:

“Why did you have real bullets?!”

Becca Good, the wife of dead activist Renee Nicole Good, after witnessing her wife’s shooting death by an I.C.E. officer.

This has to be one of the stupidest quotes Ethics Alarms has ever covered. It demonstrates how estranged from reality so many of the anti-I.C.E. and Trump Deranged protesters, demonstrators and activists are. On MS-Now, the pro-multiple sclerosis news channel, a bizarre anti-gun nut deemed worthy of a position on a televised panel discussion said this…

Yes, why do law enforcement officers carry guns (with real bullets!)?

The real questions should be…

1) “Why do crazed progressives think that it is reasonable, justifiable, ethical or safe to interfere with lawful law enforcement activity?”

2) “How did American citizens, some of them of above average intelligence, get the bonkers idea that interfering with I.C.E. operations wasn’t a crime?

3) “When will CNN, MSNBC and other news outlets stop giving a platform to “experts” and elected officials who tell their audiences that Rachel Good was “murdered”?” That position is completely contrary to known facts, as well as court decisions. This morning I heard some asshole saying that on CNN with no contradiction or push-back from the host whatsoever. The host even said “Thank-you.” Thank-you for misleading our dim-witted audience members and helping to put both Federal officers and stupid protesters (who might not expect them to use real bullets) in jeopardy!

Quote #2: (the letters in parentheses are mine, to be referenced in my commentary)

“In these times, (A) I see a lot of “this is serious! Why aren’t people doing more?” types of posts. (B) And it’s a position with which I largely agree! This is a dire moment for the nation and the world. (C) But I often see such posts from people who haven’t been posting about what THEY are doing to defend the republic. (D) Some thoughts:

(1) Waiting around for other people to participate in a mass movement in which you are not visibly participating is not a great strategy on any level; (E)

(2) If you are contributing, consider posting about it. Let others know that they are not alone; (F) and

(3) If there are safety/security reasons that preclude you from talking up your actions, consider that one reason that you’re not seeing posts about it is because others are similarly acting but not publicizing.* (G)

*Another reason could be that Meta is in bed with FOTUS and his followers and is skewing the algorithms to try to suppress news of resistance. (H)

Instead of lamenting that others aren’t standing up and fighting back, stand up and fight back. (I) Join groups! Participate ! FWIW most of the protests/actions in which I have participated have ultimately involved more people – sometimes substantially more – than I expected. That encourages me.” (J)

Yes, that one was from my Facebook feed. The writer is a retired lawyer and a nice guy who has nothing better to do, apparently, but to attend demonstrations by his bubble members that will have no productive results at all, except perhaps to get more silly people killed with those pesky real bullets.

Comments:

A. “In these times,” the Mantra of the Bubble! As EA has noted before, these deluded and biased people just assume that everybody they know is similarly Trump Deranged. That is also the refrain pandering corporate TV ads like to use. What “times,” pal? Times that your party is having to deal with losing an election? Times where totalitarian plans for single-party domination have suffered a setback? Times when a President is actually trying to reverse the results of your party’s open borders policy? Stop communicating in code and say what you mean. Are you afraid that once you get into specifics, your position will sound as absurd as it is?

B. You should also be seeing posts like that referring to why we aren’t doing more to oppose and discredit the crazies, like you. You don’t, even though there are lot of people seeing your post who would post that if you wouldn’t unfriend them and call them fascists because you believe thinking differently from the cult makes one unfit for human contact.

C. Again, why is it a “dire moment?”

D. Opposing the Rule of Law, law enforcement and the constitutional use of Presidential powers is to “defend the republic.” You’re on, Sidney…

E. What’s your “mass movement”? Insurrection? Civil war? Open borders? “Good discrimination”? No Presidents who send out mean tweets? Support for Pravda-like journalism?

F. I suppose it is comforting to know others are as hysterical, fearful and civically ignorant and irresponsible as you are…

G. Or consider that a lot of people are smart enough not to post “I am an anti-American tool” in a public forum…or that some Facebook users recognize that most people don’t use the platform to be preached to by political obsessives…

H. Riiiiight. People like my deranged friend decided that Meta was evil when it stopped censoring posts based on factchecks by the likes of Politifact and Snopes, aka, partisan biased hacks.

I. Funny, President Trump’s use of “fight” in the same way in 2021 was used to claim he was inciting a riot….

J. Yes, there are more paid protesters, blind mob followers, anti-American groups and morons than even you can imagine.

I have decided that my response to these FB rants from people I otherwise like and respect will now be the “Haha!” imoji. It stands out among all the likes, hearts and angry faces. If a recipient wants to call me out, then swell: the gloves come off. The poster will regret it.

  1. The government in Iran is slaughtering its people by the thousands. I can’t wait to see the left’s reaction to the Trump administration’s doing something about it.

    • Don’t forget what I’ve been saying for quite a while…

“The political left has shown its pattern of propaganda lies within their narratives so many times that it’s beyond me why anyone would blindly accept any narrative that the political left, their lapdog Pravda-USA media, their woke consumed bureaucracy, or their activist supporters actively push?”

At this point in time, I don’t believe much of the information I’m hearing/reading about protester deaths in Iran.

There are some significant facts to pay attention to as this story develops:

      1. The Iranian government disconnected the internet in the country, this is significant.

      2. It appears that there are deaths related to the “protests” but we really don’t know how many or why.

      3. I’m seeing some hypocrisy in reports; there seems to be confusion between whether the deaths are peaceful protesters or violent rioters? This reminds me of Hamas reports of the number of people being killed in Gaza and how many of them were children.

I absolutely sure that reports are laced with propaganda, but I have no idea what the source of the propaganda is.

I’m waiting for verified information before I jump on any bandwagon.

  2. The meme up top is misleading, as nearly all memes are. While it is true that the movie “The Sound of Music” shows the von Trapps walking over the mountains to reach the border, the film took a great many creative liberties with the real story.

In fact, the von Trapps traveled legally by train to Italy where the captain had citizenship owing to his birth.

Besides, not everyone coming across our border is fleeing Nazi Germany. To imply that all of them face the same predicament the von Trapps did is disingenuous.

    • There were a lot more liberties than that. The Nazis didn’t tell Captain Von Trapp that he was getting a commission in the Kriegsmarine whether he wanted it or not. They certainly weren’t waiting with an “honor guard” to escort him directly from the performance hall to his new command. Yes, he had legal citizenship in Italy due to the breakup of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and his birth in the city of Zara, then part of Italy. He and his family decided to leave because they didn’t want to be part of an anti-Semitic state.

At the time he had not only turned down the Kriegsmarine’s offer of a commission, but the family had also turned down the opportunity to sing for Hitler’s birthday concert, and his eldest son Rupert, a physician, had turned down an offer from a hospital that had just fired all Jewish doctors. So, he and his family had turned down three offers from the Nazi regime. Although they were not being actively pursued, they saw the writing on the wall and decided to leave before they were.

Obviously, no one now is fleeing the Nazis, and I haven’t seen a breakdown of how many who come to the US are fleeing any kind of danger as opposed to simply looking for better social services and handouts.

Oh, also, the Sound of Music is set in Salzburg. You CAN’T reach the Alps, leave alone Switzerland, from Salzburg, at least not without driving. You certainly can’t hike over the mountains and get there.

  3. I know someone that’s always been apolitical, never liked Trump, and rarely ever talks about anything political. It’s really clear that this is changing. Over the last 12 months this person has slipped further and further into Trump derangement, the hate is growing, swallowing every extreme piece of anti-Trump propaganda, openly voicing hate for Trump, and visibly mad at everything “Trump”. I don’t think it wouldn’t be an unreasonable statement to say that this person thinks Trump is evil therefore everything Trump does is also evil.

Yesterday I was completely shocked after briefly discussing an ABC news report that there were thousands of protesters killed by the Iranian regime. A statement from me started the conversation, I said…

“I think it was yesterday or the day before some other news sources reported the count of protesters killed was 40 or 50, and now ABC is telling us it’s in the thousands. What am I to believe?”

    The reply was…

“Don’t believe anything from the White House.”

    My reply was…

“These reports aren’t from the White House, this one is from ABC News which is the only news source you watch.”

What if there really are thousands being killed. Iran does have a history of slaughtering it’s own people if they disagree with leaders.”

The reply that I got back completely shocked me, it was…

“Our government is doing the same thing right now.”

It was really clear that the statement was not meant as a joke, it was completely serious. My audibly shocked reply was…

    “Slaughtering our own people!?

I’ve never heard anything like that. You must be watching news sources that I’ve never seen.”

There was dead silence after that. This person knows without any doubt that I read and watch news sources across the political spectrum to get a variety.

    TDS is spreading.

  4. 1) “Why do crazed progressives think that it is reasonable, justifiable, ethical or safe to interfere with lawful law enforcement activity?”

Because crazed progressives in the 21st century have been intentionally encouraged by their politicians and left leaning mass media to believe they’re completely untouchable by law enforcement, no matter what they do.

    2) “How did American citizens, some of them of above average intelligence, get the bonkers idea that interfering with I.C.E. operations wasn’t a crime?

Because many citizens have been intentionally brainwashed by politicians and mass media into believing they’re completely untouchable by law enforcement, no matter what they do, which has led some gullible citizens to engage in illegal behaviors to the point of complete absurdity.

    3) “When will CNN, MSNBC and other news outlets stop giving a platform to “experts” and elected officials who tell their audiences that Rachel Good was “murdered”?”

They’ve show us over and over again that they’ll only stop when it’s no longer politically expedient or when some other incident grips national media.

  5. I found the following video interesting and somewhat helpful as a way to see into what some of these people are thinking. They truly see themselves as part of The Righteous and so what they do, the way they see and interpret things, is the right and correct way:

    • These two were responding to an ICE sighting and were following the officers. Why? I think it probable that they following turn for turn which would cause the agents to feel they could be ambushed. I find it interesting that they took no video for themselves to bolster their veracity.

  6. I am intrigued that no one has asked Mayors and Governors declaring that ICE is acting unlawfully why they have not arrested the officers with their own forces.

    • Chris, that’s because you don’t need to ask questions you already know the answer to. And it wouldn’t be particularly politic to hear the mayors and governors actually say, “We want our uneducated masses to do the fighting and dying, so that we won’t actually have crossed the Rubicon by pitting municipal and state forces against the federal government.”

  7. I wonder if we can get Billy Joel to write a “We Didn’t Start the Fire 2”. I was reading an old essay that described how Joel wrote the lyrics to “We Didn’t Start the Fire” because a friend of his was bemoaning living in “times like these,” and Joel wanted to help him realize that we’ve had all kinds of issues for time out of mind. He picked 1949, his birth year, to start the tally. It seems that Joel felt the song was a truly inferior piece of work, but I thought it has been one the more powerful songs I’ve ever heard. No political commentary on the events, which means that anyone can enjoy the song, and just stating event after event makes a powerful statement on its own about all the crises, calamities, personalities, and even triumphs that occurred in just a 40-year block.

If I had to guess why we tend to believe the present is worse than any time in the past, it is because we’ve seen how past events transpired, but we’re still waiting to see what will happen in the present. If Venezuela explodes in our face, if the Ayatollahs restabilize Iran and push harder for nuclear capacity, if Russia succeeds in annexing Ukraine, if China moves on Taiwan, if the dollar crashes, if Trump refuses to leave office, if civil war breaks out, I suppose there will be many who will crow, “I told you so!” They’ll also be the ones with eggs on their faces if these dire outcomes don’t come to pass. (Similarly if we reverse the outcomes and roles.) We don’t know what tomorrow will bring, and that leaves us feeling anxious, especially since some of the outcomes we fear will directly impact our lives.

Still, I also wonder, uncharitably, if so many people whine online about about how awful everything is comes from the enculturation of the idea that you can’t accomplish anything yourself, and that you need someone to rescue you. To that, I can actually agree with the Facebook friend in his call to get involved. Indeed, stop whining and get to work. Show you actually live what you profess.
