ALERT! WordPress Changed Its Page-Break System!

Pay attention, now. WordPress, for some reason, “improved” its page-break method. Now, instead of a link that says “continue,” there are links to page 1 and page 2 after the page 1 text. If you finish page 1, click on page 2.

Above is a screen shot from the current post before this one, Comment of the Day: “From Uvalde, The Message Is “Don’t Criminalize Incompetence and Cowardice.” I added the circle and the arrow.

The system was fluctuating back and forth for a while, driving me nuts, so a few posts initially went up with no breaks at all. I finally “spoke” with WordPress, which informed me how to use the new “improved” system.

I’m sorry for the confusion and inconvenience, but I an powerless in situations like this.

  1. ‘Tis fine. I was confused momentarily by the abrupt end of the entry til I saw the page number options and figured it out.

  2. I eventually figured it out, but it was better when it would open to a full page. Now, to make sense of a post, I have to jump back and forth between pages. That was perfectly illustrated by the gay marriage post where Jack laid out an argument and you jump to the next page for his response and I had to jump back and forth to see what his response was responding to.

  3. I noticed the pages on the Story regarding the Librarian suggesting President Trump be sniped. It took me a couple of minutes to figure it out…probably longer than it took A.M. Golden.

  4. Like some of the other commenters, I’m voting against the page breaks. I think WordPress needs a great deal of feedback that their “improvement” in this regard was not actually an improvement.

  5. I am also against the page breaks, especially since for some obtuse reason for me they appear beneath both a “Share this:” section with buttons for all the social media sites, and a “Related” section with three other article suggestions:

I much preferred being able to just scroll down and read everything.
