Ethics Quote of the Month: Jill Foster in “The Telegraph”

“Far from being isolated incidents, the two attacks are just the latest mass shootings involving trans-identified perpetrators in recent years. And they will doubtless reignite speculation among Republican figures in the US that transgender treatment is making people more likely to carry out such attacks.”

—-Freelance journalist and long-time UK editor and life-style reporter Jill Foster in “Are cross-sex drugs driving trans shooters to kill?”

I love this quote! It’s a “bias makes you stupid” all-time classic. It’s a self-awareness void all-time classic! It’s a “My mind’s made up, don’t confuse me with facts” all-time classic! It’s a “Yoo’s Rationalization,” or “It isn’t what it is” all-time classic!

What a perfect example of the Left’s woke delusions and amazing ability to see only what it wants to see. I want to frame that quote. I want to put it on T-shirts and coffee mugs.

Never mind pondering whether trans individuals are mentally ill: what does it say about progressives who can read that statement and react by shaking their heads, tut-tutting, and thinking, “How true, how true. Those hateful Republicans, and conservatives of course, will definitely speculate that because a tiny sliver of the population has been disproportionately engaging in mass murder, there might be a reason related to the radical treatment we good and rational people call “gender affirming care. What’s the matter with those bigots?”

Funny, I have been wondering, since so many individuals of dubious gender identity have been killing people lately while the news media, in its coverage that emphasizes the only their favorite anti-gun angle, never mentions the possibility that there may be a link between trans murderers snapping and their…what can I call it? Malady? No, that’s pejorative. Condition? Confusion? Delusion? Medical abuse?…if I’m the only one whose Holmesian instincts detect a possible cause and effect.

Now, thanks to Jill’s incisive reportage, I realize that my politically incorrect thoughts are simply attributable to the fact that I would rather have an orangutan rip my face off and eat it than vote for a Democrat in November.

I’m gradually viewing Jill’s matter of fact statement that only U.S. Republicans are capable of processing reality as excellent reporting. Far from being the unethical, biased, incredibly stupid assertion it appeared to be at first reading, I realize this is a factual assertion. Democrats will deny even an unavoidable conclusion if it in any way undermines their favored world view. If it is an inconvenient fact, they will made sure their captive propagandists in the media bury it or deny it, or better still, demonize those who dare to utter such Wrongthink out loud.

Thanks, Jill! You’ve given us a lot not to think about.

  1. I read that quote and thought to myself “sounds like a right-winger – why would the left emphasise that these aren’t isolated interests?”

So I looked the author up and that article is in the Telegraph, a UK newspaper which is widely held to be right-wing.

Reading the article, the rest of it sounds pretty right-wing to me – Among other things there’s a quote from someone saying “so-called” [their words] gender-affirming care is “negligent”, and the author repeatedly misgenders trans individuals.

Another article by the same author starts “As gender ideology infiltrates schools […]”

I don’t think this is a left-wing author. I think she actually agrees with you that the left should be talking about this sort of thing instead of ignoring it.

    • That’s an interesting theory. Thanks for raising it. Here’s her short bio:

Formerly Associate Editor at Femail on the Daily Mail, Jill has been a freelance feature writer and editor since January 2008. She has written for publications including the Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday, The Daily Telegraph, Red, Fabulous, Look, Glamour, Real People, Woman and Woman’s Own.
She specializes in interviews, human interest stories, lifestyle and health features.
Before joining the Daily Mail, she was commissioning editor and feature writer on The Mirror for four years.
Jill helped cancer sufferer and charity fundraising athlete Jane Tomlinson CBE and husband Mike write their three bestselling books The Luxury of Time, You Can’t Take It With You and How Good Is That? She now helps out with The Jane Tomlinson Appeal in a voluntary role and is on the board of directors.
Jill trained at London’s City University after winning Cosmopolitan Magazine’s journalism scholarship in 1997.
She lives in West Yorkshire with her husband and twin daughters.

I’d be amazed if a female feminist journalist in the UK who edited the Daily Mail and won a Cosmo scholarship could be anything but progressive. She may be considered on the conservative side in GB, but then it’s a socialist country.

It’s an infuriatingly wishy-washy article. She quotes the stats, which are surely suspicious, but picks inflammatory quotes from the likes of Donald Trump Jr. and the late Charlie Kirk—you know, Right Wing MAGA haters–to assert a connection, quote Jacob Frey’s knee-jerk dismissal, and concludes with:

“It’s clear that much more research is needed into the effects of cross-sex treatment. And, for many, the Tumbler Ridge tragedy and shooting in Rhode Island will make the issue increasingly difficult to ignore.” Why “for many,” if she finds the issue worth writing about> Occam’s Razor suggest to me that she’s not criticizing the Left.

      • The Daily Mail is notoriously right-wing, if you didn’t know. More so than the Telegraph.

I agree about the wishy-washiness, the section starting “the attack prompted many figures close to Donald Trump to air unproven anti-trans theories” had me doubting myself for a moment (she could just be anti-Trump/MAGA, though)

  2. On transgender Reddit pages and on social media there’s a growing movement towards guns and violence, often framed as “vengeance.”

Not sure if this is a “prediction”, since it’s already sort of happening, but as it becomes more apparent that these mass shooters tend to be Leftists, I don’t think we’re going to hear as much gun control hysteria from the Left. We’re at the stage there they’re quietly handing out machetes to their Interahahmwe. Get ready for more extremely cynical “2nd Amendment Rights” commentary from them. I don’t think they want an actual genocide or a civil war, but the DNC has fully embraced Brownshirting as a way to win elections. They probably like the idea of people being afraid of their fringe.

    • They already believe that any policy position against the desire of an individual to transition at will (or Wilma) constitutes genocide against their community because it reduces their population and even potential population as they believe people will transition out of life if they are obstructed from transitioning to whatever “brain” they were born with.

Thus, violence and terrorism for the cause become justified self defense and community defense. Google’s trends shows ‘Trans genocide’ peaking April 2023 and climbing again now.
