Today’s Lesson In The Ethical Deterioration Of Congress: Rep. Mace and Omar’s Insult-Fest…

I would put up “The Country’s in the Very Best of Hands” again (from the excellent musical “Li’l Abner,” which probably will never be produced anywhere ever again), but even I’m getting sick of it, it’s been appropriate so often lately. Thus this time I’m only posting images of the two latest examples of what terrible role models and representatives we have in Congress, Rep. Omar and Rep. Mace.

After President Donald Trump announced the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei following U.S.-Israeli strikes on the country, Mace posted a Fox News graphic of Khamenei with the legend, “Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei Confirmed Dead.” She added “My heart goes out to Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib tonight. Sending them thoughts and prayers.”

Omar, whose instincts for dignified comportment were on vivid display last week at the State of the Union affair, responded, “I hope you aren’t drunk and took your staff’s advice. Rashida and I don’t know this man and feel confident he didn’t care about us. Please restrain from drinking too much as you have been warned from your staff and stay off social media when you are drunk. I pray in his holy month you find peace and respect for your self.”

Mace, who denies accusations that she has a drinking problem, tweeted back, “So tell me, what was it like being married to your brother?” Later Mace wrote, “Ilhan Omar didn’t care that over 1,000 Jews were slaughtered on a Jewish holiday. Maybe sit this one out terrorist lover.”

To her credit, Omar did not respond, “OK, Nazi bitch! You want a piece of me? Bring it on! After I whip your flabby ass, you’ll be the one wearing a burka!”

Well.

  1. 3. The ‘married your brother’ isn’t an attack on her followers. It is interesting that the claim is not proven because we can’t find out who her brothers actually are. We can’t even find out who her father is, for that matter. Her followers promote cousin marriage, not sibling marriage.

Omar and Tlaib are in a sticky spot. The vast majority of Muslims in the world support the attack on Iran. Although Obama spent years sucking up to Iran and sending the Iranians money trying to strengthen Iran to take the place of Saudi Arabia as leader of the Muslim world, most Muslims are Sunni, not Shia. This is why Trump was able to push the Abraham accords. Sunni Muslim nations are so afraid of Iranian hegemony, that they were willing to normalize relations with Israel to get aid against Iran. Omar and Tlaib’s positions are actually opposed to the views of their own Muslim electorate.

  2. On the other hand, I did have to giggle when Mace tweeted, following her questioning of Hillary Clinton, that she wanted everyone to know that she has security cameras, her tires are fine and that she is not suicidal.

  3. Ted Lieu is sad that you didn’t include his Judiciary Committee statements that Trump raped a little girl and had her head blown off to keep her from testifying.

  4. Nancy Mace is not elected for her classy behavior, but for her willingness to fight. In a way her behavior reflects the Donald Trump spirit.

A lot of GOP voters are sick and tired of RINOs and gentlemanly losers who price decorum over political results. People like Mitt Romney, Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, John Boehner, Bill Frist. That is why Donald Trump was elected. Donald Trump himself is not man known for classy behavior and has a big Ethics Alarms rap sheet. The matter is that his weakness is also his strength, as shown by his boldness on Iran, Venezuela, immigration, and a host of other matters.

I wished that the Senate GOP had more people who had the fighting spirit of Nancy Mace, willing to go to the mat for thinks that are crucially important such as election integrity (SAVE act). However the august and geriatric Senators of the GOP care more about tradition and decorum than about getting things done.

    • I agree with the points you make but one can fight for principles without name calling. Unfortunately, while it draws favor from a significant part of the electorate, such behaviors undermine one’s credibility. To change minds Republicans need to be smart about how they attack the opposition.

  5. Much of the problem cannot be laid at the feet of Trump. Long before he came down the escalator we have had politicians yelling racist. A significant part of the problem lies in our schools who seem unable to teach children how to think. As a result the products of these schools rely on taunts and name calling instead of solid debating points. We have entire school districts encouraging student walkouts instead of using events as topics of discussion for the purpose of understanding the issues from multiple perspectives. I hear lots of talk about diversity but nothing in the behavior of so many who mold young minds suggests that they can even define the word diversity.

Re: The matter about Omar marrying her brother to get into the US.

It would be a great benefit to all if Omar would put the matter to rest by having she and her husband in question undergo a DNA test. If she is telling the truth in her denials then we can end the entire issue. She has the power to end it if she chooses to.

    • The following article on Nancy Mace’s own website is interesting:

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Jan. 8, 2026) – Yesterday, Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-SC) moved to subpoena immigration records related to Representative Ilhan Omar and her brother/husband during a House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing titled “Oversight of Fraud and Misuse of Federal Funds in Minnesota: Part I.”

The hearing examined the massive theft and misuse of taxpayer dollars connected to a Somali-linked fraud network which flourished under Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s leadership.

Rep. Mace’s motion sought immigration records necessary to determine whether federal laws were violated in connection with the immigration of Omar and her brother/husband. The motion was tabled by both Democrats and Republicans on the Committee.”

Maybe Republicans like Nancy Mace should be thankful that Ilhan Omar is such a big presence in the Democrat Party; Omar and Tlaib define what that party has become. The negative attention attracted by Omar should be received as a gift to the GOP.

  6. I should care about this. Yes, this incident is shameful, and is another example of the degradation of U.S. politics. Everything you wrote/write about this is absolutely true. Mace said some dumb things and insulted members of Congress. Perhaps bias has made me stupid but I just can’t care about any insults thrown at either Omar and Tlaib. Omar and Tlaib are not just unamerican. They are anti-American in everything they do. They are the “enemy within.” Tlaib refers to the U.S. as “they” and not “us” or “we” indicating that she does not see herself as a US citizen first but as a having allegiance to someone other than this country. Omar has repeatedly stated, openly and loudly, that her allegiance is to Somalia and her Somalian constituents. She has profited off the Minnesota fraud scandal. A pox on them.

    • Again. How did we end up with foreigners from shithole Anti-American countries serving IN CONGRESS? And worse, they are harridans!

    • This is why I think she could be stripped of her American citizenship. The oath of citizenship requires the applicant to give up allegiances to all foreign powers. She clearly has not done so, so she lied on her citizenship oath.
