1. MSNow for once proved its marginal value. My Trump Deranged relative, who inexplicably gets most of her news from that nest of hacks, knew about the IRS deal and told me about it well before most of the the blogs and news aggregators I generally check had uttered a metaphorical peep. This time it was the conservative media burying an inconvenient story.
This is a disgusting and unethical state that our journalism has descended into.
2. Oh look: there appears to have been another assassination attempt today. I’m sure all the Axis claims that Trump is a dictator and about to put his opponents and blacks in camps has nothing to do with it just like the hysterical attacks on him and veiled calls for him to be 86’ed had nothing to do with the previous three—or is it four? I lost count—attempts.
3. Speaking of the Axis, the New York Times is still digging in and defending Nicholas Kristof’s indefensible liable alleging that Palestinian prisoners are being raped by dogs trained for that purpose. What a strange hill to die on! Here, a Federal judge dismantles Kristof’s fantasy. Here, law professor Jonathan Turley opines that contrary to the shameless Axis defenders of the Times’ anti-Semitism, Israel’s “blood libel” lawsuit could prevail.
4. Turley also reveals that recent polls, show that two-thirds of Democrats (67%) now support Palestinians over Israel, with only 17% being on the side of the nation and the population Hamas wants to push into the sea and off the map. Nice.
5. And now for something completely stupid: the “Trump buffalo,” pictured here…

….is about to be sacrificed in Muslim-majority Bangladesh’s celebration of Eid al-Adha, the Islamic “feast of the sacrifice”later this month. More than 12 million livestock – including goats, sheep, cows and buffaloes – are expected to be sacrificed during the holiday.
Gee, what a civilized religion and culture! Sure, let’s open the gates to all the Muslims who want to come here. What could go wrong? Too bad there are no more Aztecs or Mayans around…
6. And now for something almost as stupid: the news media acting as if the final broadcast of Stephen Colbert’s repetitious, nightly Trump-bashing on the CBS “Late Show” is some kind of a watershed. This is a comedian who once flipped the middle finger to the camera and exclaimed “Fuck You!” to the President and called him Putin’s cock-holster. He has been a hateful, divisive force in our culture, turning the late night TV landscape away from unifying entertainment to partisan propaganda. Naturally the Axis loved him for doing its work, and now it continues to spread the lie that President Trump was responsible for Colbert being cancelled. This was a pure business decision CBS. The program’s fiscal losses of between $40-50 million a year were confirmed by the New York Post, and the Wall Street Journal. But never mind facts! Progressive historian Jon Meacham, who never mentions that he was an Obama and Biden speechwriter, said “Always worry when they come for the comedians.” Jimmy Kimmel blathered that viewers should boycott CBS for “bending a knee” to Trump.
Meanwhile, Rolling Stone and other media mouthpieces are reporting that Colbert “went out with a bang” with nearly seven million viewers. That was tops for him, indeed. But his predecessor, David Letterman, said sayonara with 13.8 million. It figures, doesn’t it? Letterman, jerk that he is, did not aim his show to only amuse half the population while insulting the other half. Jay Leno’s last show in 2014 attracted 14.6 million viewers. Johnny Carson’s “Tonight” farewell: 55 million.

The libertarians hate Trump. This won’t change anything.
Andrew McCarthy at NR calls the Trump IRS settlement an abuse of political power but not a legal issue. In other words it is up to Congress to handle it (which it will not do of course).

The Federalist has an article with title “Senators Fight Harder Against Restitution For DOJ Weaponization Than Against Weaponization Itself”, and Townhall is silent about it.
There are a substantial number of Republican Senators who are taking proper notice of Trump’s stunning explosion of conflicts of interest and dubious Constitutional manipulations last week.
It does not help that the Republican Senators who speak strongly against the slush fund are the usual RINO suspects like Thom Tillis and Mitch McConnell. Sean Davis (The Federalist) points out that both these Senators voted for a similar slush fund, and their protests lack integrity but smell of hypocrisy. I am including Sean Davis’s tweet on Tillis below, he has a separate tweet on McConnell. The thing is that the protesting Senators themselves have set up a precedent by voting for a similar slush fund for the benefit of Senators who where spied on by Biden.
Trump’s attempt to legal immunization against the IRS is also a defense mechanism against lawfare and abuse by federal agencies. As Trump has been on the receiving end of “show me the man and I will show you the crime” lawfare by Laetitia James, Jack Smith, and the IRS has been abusive against Trump, and against conservatives (Lois Lerner vs Tea Party), it is understandable that Trump seeks a preemptive defense.
I am not saying what Trump does is good, however the root cause and the real issue has been a history of lawfare and federal agency abuse against Trump and against conservatives going back to the Obama administration. And for that reason MAGA conservatives will shrug the Trump’s less than ethical defense measures off as a rather minor issue, and not lose sleep over it. Political expedience trumps ethical purity; that is how it works in politics.
As WordPress only allows me one link before sending a comment to moderation limbo, a separate comment for Trump’s tweet on the slush fund.
About 3 and 4, in 2020 NYT revolted against an editorial by Senator Tom Cotton who urged to bring in the military to stop all the BLM rioting; the editor who allowed the publication of the column was forced to resign.
Today no revolt at the NYT against the Kristof column.
What surprises me is that so many Jews still vote for a party that now is in full support of Jew hatred. Hamas and its supporters do not only attack Israel, they also commit terrorism against Jews in western countries. And there is historical precedent that walking away from your Jewish identity and fully assimilating does not protect against antisemitism.

Regarding #2: And the Trump Deranged are out in full force in our local news media’s comment section accusing the President of staging the incident in order to distract and/or justify the need for his ballroom.
6. According to lefties, broadcast companies are supposed to absorb losses related to programming attacking the Trump and his administration. It’s the corporations’ civic duty.
