JFK always talked a good game…there is also substantial evidence that he organized a gang rape, compromised US security by having an affair with a foreign spy (as well as with a Mafia don’s moll), and was saved from being the man who triggered WW3 only because a Russian Premier decided it was worth backing down and getting purged to save millions from death. No, JFK wasn’t afraid of Jackie’s grace and beauty so he humiliated her by being a serial adulterer and sexual predator. Marilyn writhing at his birthday party in a dress that made her look naked, basically broadcasting their sexual relationship, may be the most disgusting public moment in US political history. And of course, Kennedy didn’t write most of his fine words, not even the ones that got him a Pulitzer Prize for “Profiles in Courage,” which was mostly authored by Ted Sorenson. It’s amazing what being assassinated or dying young will do for one’s reputation. As SNL writer Michael O’Donahue said when Elvis died, “Good career move!” Kennedy was a bad man and weak President. I really don’t care what he “said” and neither should anyone else.”
I can’t wait to see how the blithering idiots who “loved ” “sad-faced” and “angry-faced” his post try to spin that. I’m betting my friend, who knows I know what I’m talking about when it comes to Presidential history, will default to “But Trump…!” because that’s all he’s got.

It seems that there are a lot of deferred maintenance items that have caused serious structural problems with the Kennedy Center. The Biden administration was made aware of them and did nothing. Trump is trying to repair it, and the media is uniformly against him. If Trump had competent advisors, (and this war with the Shia Twelvers shows that he doesn’t) he could really use this to his advantage.
Trump is recently under fire for revoking some press credentials. Well, the ‘press’ is supposed to be an independent press, not the PR wing of the opposite party. Now, there are partisan issues that become difficult to argue are partisan, but then there are nonpartisan things where you can definitely show a partisan bias. Fixing broken things shouldn’t be something people complain about, but it is. The reflecting pool and the Kennedy Center are 2 pieces of broken public property. The Trump administration is trying to fix them. The ‘independent media’ is uniformly against both. Now, you could see someone arguing that we have better things to spend the money on. There is no nonpartisan reason why either of these items turns in to a crusade where protesters turn up to obstruct and vandalize government property, but here we are. These efforts are clear demonstrations that these are not media organizations but PR organizations for the Democratic Party. He should refuse to return their credentials, and demand the revocation of the credentials for all outlets that have decried these to restoration projects. He should also demand that they report their in-kind donations they make in airtime to the FEC.

I have lived near Washington DC for over 40 years, and only once set foot inside the Kennedy Center. That was for a free afternoon event that one of my kids was involved with. I won’t miss it. But for all of the people who are protesting its closure, what did you expect would happen when you boycotted it (to spite President Trump)? Seriously. What did you think would happen? Why did you think that?
This reminds me of a quaint old chapel in Yorkshire, built for the convenience of construction workers, but inadequately maintained for a hundred years after, because there was no multi-generational congregation to value and support it. But let anyone propose to tear it down and build something else on the site, and everyone who ever drove by it stands up to protest.
