These developments gave elites and “experts” controlling the direction of U.S. public education the ability to dictate how our population would be educated, as well as how educators themselves would be taught to “educate.” Indoctrinate the educators to indoctrinate the students. Free the tentacles of ignorance to ensnare society. The indoctrinators produced aspiring social justice warrior students instead of students who were legitimately educated, capable of critical reasoning, and prepared for the real world. The iprogressive left took over the entire education of the population of the USA in a few short decades, and we are now reaping the generational results of that indoctrination, what Iserbyt called “dumbing down.”
Iserbyt was publicly tarred as a conspiracy theorist by the political left, academia, teachers unions, and some on the politically right. However, if you objectively look at the continuing demise of K-12 and undergraduate college education across the board and how the knowledge base of students has been declining, it is clear that Iserbyt was was prescient. Not enough people cared.
With our entire education system undermined and far too many people in multiple generations under-educated, it’s going to take a while for our society to recover. Getting over years of stifled psychological maturity of multiple generations is not an easy task. The results of this multigenerational indoctrinated ignorance is the anti-cultural, anti-USA, anti-common sense, anti-critical thinking, anti-logic that we are been seeing across the USA. There are too many ignorant citizens indoctrinated to think they’re geniuses. Our education system has done something profoundly unethical and immoral corrupting the ability of the general population to perceive reality and the values it supports. It is not hyperbole to call this evil.
Lastly, please consider this. An ideology hell bent on undermining society, morals, education, and an existing democratic republic can achieve its mission if the people within its sphere of influence are mostly ignorant and dumb while laboring under thee delusion that they are not. Such individuals lack the intellectual skills to realize their freedoms are gone until it is too late to restore them. Barack Obama said in a February 2008 presidential campaign speech, “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”
Apathy and neglect will not reverse the downward trend of civic literacy and critical thought. They can only accelerate it.
Apathy and Neglect Won’t Fix the Problem
