Disgusting (But Not Atypical) Leftist Hate-Mongers Issue A Rare Level #11 Apology (“The Impossible Apology”)

Even this lets the two awful human beings off the metaphorical hook. It is not simply their obvious pleasure at the violent death of an individual whose political views they disagreed with that made their reaction unconscionable, but how it exposed the ethics rot at the heart of the current progressive movement as well. Welch had said in an interview that Charlie Kirk “justified his death.” None of the podcast’s sponsors should have supported it in the first place, but as we know, 99.9% of all corporations have no values beyond profit. Now the podcast’s sponsors are all under pressure to pull their support, so naturally the podcasters issued what some potential Brooklyn Bridge purchasers would call “an apology,” stating,

“On Thursday’s show, we laughed at a joke about Charlie Kirk. It was an insensitive joke, and we should not have laughed. We regret it, and we apologize. Whatever our political differences, there is nothing funny about gun violence. We’ve long supported common-sense gun safety reform. To that end, we’ve made a donation to Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention organization in America. We’ll keep using our platforms to fight for the safety of all Americans.”

Anyone, including sponsors, who accept that as anything more than a fake, cynical, dishonest, insincere apology by two disgusting women will believe anything. It is a rare Level #11 apology on the EA Apology Scale:

11. The Impossible Apology: An inherently unbelievable apology for conduct or words so unethical and so extreme that nobody could possibly say or engage it accidentally or unintentionally. Such an apology for words or conduct of signature significance, indicating that the speaker or wrongdoer is unethical and untrustworthy because no individual who is ethical and trustworthy would behave in such a manner even once, is not merely cynical and a travesty, but insulting to its intended audience.

All #11 apologies are unethical, but this might be the worst I’ve ever seen. The two podcasters don’t regret laughing at the sick post, they regret the looming consequences of doing so. They feel they “should not have laughed” because they should have realized that not every American is as steeped in partisan hate as they and most of their listeners are. The “apology” changes the subject with a smokescreen to avoid taking responsibility for what was so unforgivable about their cackling like the witches in “MacBeth”: what they were laughing at wasn’t “gun violence,” but conservatives being killed, and deserving not merely extinction, but post mortem debasement. Nice!

Like the good little left-wing tools they are, the two podcasters’ apology defaults to the gossamer progressive deceitful substitute for actual gun policies, “common-sense” gun safety reform. Then they try to turn the apology into virtue-signaling for cretins, as if sending money to a gun control organization is a genuine mea culpa for celebrating the idea of murdering Charlie Kirk twice. Sending a contribution to Turning Point USA would signal a sincere apology.

You will be reading the following a lot in coming months:

Take note, you conservatives and Republicans who let the “Blue Wave” swamp the nation, for these are the execrable people you allowed to get power over your lives because you wanted to throw a tantrum about inflation.
