To summarize the previous post on the same general topic: how can any Americans maintain any self-respect who tolerate such obvious lack of integrity from a Presidential candidate?

Harris’s brazen flip-flopping on fracking, or “FFF” as Ethics Alarms will henceforward call it, is so dishonest, so brazen, such pure pandering of the most revolting kind that it defies analogy. Harris on this topic makes John Kerry’s “I was against the Iraq War before I was for it” dodge look like the epitome of statesmanship.

Her cynical machinations on her position on fracking are so convoluted now I’m not sure I can describe it. Let’s see:

1. While running for the Democratic nomination for President in 2019, then-Senator Kamala Harris said there was “no question” that she was in favor of banning fracking.

2. When she purloined the nomination for President in 2024 after winning exactly no votes from citizens who wanted her in that position, she suddenly changed her FFF policies as part of what Bernie Sanders has explained as justifiable tactics (lying) to defeat the Hitler/Bond super-villain/convicted felon Donald Trump—you know, to save democracy. Then, in her debate with Trump, she was asked why she had claimed a month earlier she would not ban fracking. She pointed to the fact that the Inflation Reduction Act (that had nothing to do with reducing inflation) Harris pushed into law with her tie-breaking vote “opened new leases for fracking.” She then said her “values have not changed.” Harris’s values haven’t changed, it’s true: she believes in saying what ever is most likely to advance her career at any moment in time.

If so, it explains a lot.

I saw this on Facebook, posted by a good freind who is also a public school teacher (and, of course, a Harris voter). I then found it again elsewhere on the platform; both posts wee smothered with likes and loves. It is beyond moronic.

I’m not even quite sure what point the writer (my friend didn’t write it) is trying to make. Of course “its” about babies: abortion involves eliminating the life of a baby/developing baby/”going to be a baby if you don’t kill it” living human being. I guess it depends on what the meaning of “about” is about.

Is the idea (I’m being generous applying that term to whatever this is) that the people who oppose abortions really don’t care that it is the taking of a human life—that is what creates the ethics conflict, after all—because if they really cared about that, they would also want to spend trillions of dollars making the child-rearing process mostly free and burden tax-payers and the government with footing the bill? If so, this is social justice “thinking” reduced to a “time to pull the plug” level of brain power. If we’re not ready to pay for all aspects of the lives of all children, that means we are hypocritical to not embrace killing them.

Got it. No, actually I don’t.

I could spin out some amusing analogies to the logic in that statement, but I’ve got another funeral to go to, I’m pressed for time, I understand the value of life, and I don’t want to rob you of your fun.

What is bothering me right now is that this may be an accurate indication of the kinds of people we rely on to teach our children who manage to get out of wombs alive.

The headline is a bit harsh, you think? It is, but to hell with it.

I find this behavior by Kamala Harris and her cabal incredible, though less so after watching Harris make gaffe after blunder after botch in recent days.

Has-been news anchor but still-kicking Kennedy Maria Shriver  hosted a town hall event promoting Kamala Harris in Royal Oak, Michigan. When a woman in the audience rose to ask, “Are we going to be able to ask a question?,” Shriver replied, “You’re not, unfortunately! We have some predetermined questions. And hopefully I’ll be able to ask some of the questions that might be in your head, I hope so.”

What? At this point, any audience member with any self-respect and respect for the democratic process should have walked out, with some bold soul—I would have done it—announcing “That’s a disgrace. All of you are a disgrace, especially you, Vice-President Harris. Come on, everyone, let’s let these people ask each other scripted questions. We’re out of here.”

This was a Confederacy of Ethics Dunces, beginning with the audience of weenies who don’t have the guts or gumption to reject an obvious insult. Then we have…

….Shriver, who said she agreed to moderate the event as a “concerned citizen” but also as a journalist. If she were really a concerned citizen, she’d be concerned that the Democratic Presidential candidate has refused to explain her policy positions or even to specify how she would be different from President Biden. As a journalist, she had an obligation not to be complicit in yet another Harris incompetence cover-up operation. Shriver proved that she is neither a concerned citizen nor a journalist. She is just a partisan hack, and fully complicit in her party’s efforts to bypass democratic norms to stay in power.

I’m almost glad Arnold cheated on her.

…Liz Cheney, who was backing Harris at the phony town meeting (I’ve been to real town meetings in the real town, the largest in the U.S., of Arlington, Massachusetts. They let you ask your own questions in real town meetings. Presumably I don’t have to explain how unethical Cheney is.

…and, of course, Kamala Harris, coward, liar, phony.

Today I saw another Harris-Walz sign, this one particularly obnoxious as it read, “Harris Walz. Obviously.” Really? Obviously? How can anyone with self-respect leave that thing on their lawn after…

  • ….”60 Minutes” had to fake an interview answer for Harris to save her from her own gibberish?
  • …she stiffed Catholics by ducking out of the Al Smith dinner?
  • …she insulted Christians at a rally by telling them they were in the wrong place?
  • …and now this, still hiding from tough questions and refusing to respect voters’ right to know what the hell they are voting for?

I don’t understand these people. The very least we should demand of our elected officials is that they respect us.

Because, you see, much as I try to present myself as otherwise, I’m a sap. All year I’ve been reading about how the WNBA’s players are discriminated against because they don’t get anywhere near the money that their male counterparts do, that pro women’s basketball was surging in popularity, that finally it was sinking in that women were just as good at the game and fun to watch as the NBA’s freaks, and that social justice had arrived at last.

Nah. The WNBA lost 40 million dollars this past season, and that with its player earning what they skills were worth based on the demand to see them. Feminists and social justice trolls have been trying the same scam as they worked with some success in soccer, claiming that the higher men’s compensation was based on discrimination. No, it was based on reality: supply and demand, popularity, and biology.

No, I Really Am Finding the Desperation and Panic of Democrats and the Media As They Realize Harris Is Losing Hilarious, Because It Is…

In a post yesterday, I stated that I found the New York Times’s pathetic efforts to cover for Kamala Harris’s apparent lie that she worked at McDonalds “hilarious.” This was followed by a marvelous comment by long-time commenter Zanshin (First comment: April, 2013), soon to be posted here as a Comment of the Day, who wrote in part, “I think we all can agree that the essence of his analysis is not that this part of the Times article is genuinely funny but rather that the quote is a proof of the Times’ humiliating debasement of its professional duties as an objective news source.” I should have been clearer, I guess. The essence, in addition to constituting proof of the Times’ humiliating debasement of its professional duties as an objective news source and making me laugh outright (because I did), it is also throbbing evidence that the Axis is freaking the hell out, no longer able to restrain itself from trying the most obviously desperate tactics, whistling, now screaming, past the graveyard, aware that only a miracle (or massive fraud by their party) can save them, and exposing their panic for all to see.

To which I respond, “GOOD, you assholes. You deserve it, and I am reveling in your pain.”

“Nah, There’s No Mainstream Media Bias!” Hilarity of the Day: The New York Times Gets It Backward Trying To Cover For Harris And Vilifying Trump

Here’s another one: I have yet to ban a commenter for doing no more than saying the mainstream media isn’t flamingly, ostentatiously, democratically and destructively biased in favor of progressives and Democrats, but the day is coming, and it’s coming fast. Ridiculous smoking guns like this one, from the New York Times, will seal the deal. The Times’ apparent standard, based on the story: If Harris says something happened with no evidence to back it up, it’s true. If Donald Trump questions the claim, he’s lying.

Got it. The sickening display of bias reminds me of the line circulating on Glenn Reynolds’ Instapundit lately: “No matter how much you hate the mainstream media, it’s not enough.”

Back in August, Ethics Alarms noted that it was becoming increasingly likely that Kamala Harris’s oft-repeated claim that she worked at McDonald’s like the typical middle-class kid she claims to have been was, like so many other Harris claims, a load of hooey. I wrote in part,

“The organ donor is moving around! Sedate him!”

In 2021, Anthony Thomas “TJ” Hoover II, was was rushed to the hospital after a drug overdose, determined to be dead, and was prepped for organ harvesting. His sister “became concerned something wasn’t right” when her brother appeared to open his eyes and look around as he was being wheeled from intensive care to the operating room. Oh, don’t worry, she and other family members were told. This was just a normal reflex! Nothing to see here, move along…

Natasha Miller, whose job at Baptist Health hospital in Richmond, Kentucky is to preserve donated organs for transplantation, also realized “something wasn’t right” when the supposedly dead organ donor began ” like, moving, thrashing around on the bed.”

“You could see he had tears coming down. He was crying visibly,” she told reporters. Two surgeons refused to participate in the organ retrieval, so the case coordinator for Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates (KODA), called her supervisor, who ordered her to find another surgeon to remove the organs. Thankfully the organ retrieval was canceled, but the incident horrified many involved. Miller told NPR, ” It’s very scary to me now that these things are allowed to happen and there’s not more in place to protect donors.”

Note To Candidate Trump: Civility Isn’t Bullshit

Today’s “Trump is a terrible person and you have to vote against him even though there is literally no rational reason to vote for Kamala Harris” article is “At a Pennsylvania Rally, Trump Descends to New Levels of Vulgarity.” Of course he did. Public discourse and civility, all a part of the crucial ethics value of respect, have plummeted precipitously as Ethics Alarms predicted here and chronicled since, most recently yesterday. Trump has unquestionably been a catalyst for the coarsening of American speech and culture, but as this tag will show you, so many prominent individuals and institutions followed his lead and escalated the rot that blaming Trump alone would be, well, the kind of thing the Trump Deranged do every day.

Naturally, as Vulgarian-in-Chief, Trump couldn’t let himself be reduced to relative civility by Congresswomen saying things like “Let’s impeach the motherfucker!,” iconic actor Robert De Niro getting cheers at events by screaming “Fuck Trump!,” or a coded phrase meaning “Fuck Joe Biden!” being plastered on T-shirts, banners and mugs. Sooooo, as the Times gleefully informs us…

Mr. Trump opened his speech at the airport in Latrobe, Pa., with 12 minutes of reminiscing about the golfer Arnold Palmer, who grew up in the Western Pennsylvania town and for whom the airport was named. His monologue culminated in lewd remarks about the size of Mr. Palmer’s penis. Moments later, Mr. Trump gave the crowd an opportunity to call out a profanity. He went on to use that four-letter word to describe Ms. Harris. “Such a horrible four years,” Mr. Trump said, referring to the Biden-Harris administration, as he surveyed the crowd of hundreds of people in front of him. “We had a horrible — think of the — everything they touch turns to —.” Many in his audience — which was mostly made up of adults but included some children, infants and teenagers — eagerly filled in the blank, shouting, “Shit!” Minutes later, Mr. Trump urged his supporters to vote, telling them that they had to send a crude message to Ms. Harris: “We can’t stand you, you’re a shit vice president.”

Oh, nice. That’s the way to make America great again.

Here’s Another Futile Boycott, But I Don’t Care: I’m Not Watching Another Dick Wolf Show Again…

To hell with Wolf and all his shows— “Law and Order,” the “FBI” series, “Chicago Med,” “…Fire,” “…P.D.” I could take, barely, the perpetual sympathy for illegal immigrants and appeal to open-border sentiment, but now I am convinced Wolf is a malign force, not just an active member of the Axis of Unethical Conduct but an unscrupulous agent of personal destruction.

Yeah, I know: it won’t make any difference, and I can’t change anything. But at least I’ll be able to look at myself in the mirror.

I just watched “The Long Arm of the Witness” episode 6 from “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” on season 22 (2021). It was an hour-long assault on Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, putting his public victimization by a politically motivated accuser from his distant past in a damning and malicious who conveniently had a recovered memory of a sexual assault that had no witnesses, at a party she couldn’t identify, in order to discredit a distinguished judge because the Left didn’t want another conservative on the Court.

“A Nation of Assholes” Update: “I Fart In Your General Direction” Edition

Back in 2015 when I wrote that having a vulgarian like Donald Trump serve as our national role model (for that is one of the crucial jobs of American Presidents) would spawn “a nation of assholes,” I was tragically correct (“I’m smart! I’m not dumb like everybody says, I’m smart, and I want respect!”). However, I did not foresee how aggressively others in high profile positions—Robert De Niro, Nancy Pelosi, The Squad, Madison Avenue, athletes, Hollywood, journalists, singers and so many more—would rush to assist Trump in soiling our national civility, manners and discourse.

The latest new low—I did not see us reaching this subterranean level —comes from former NFL linebacker and current podcaster Will Compton. He and fellow ex-NFL player Taylor Lewan recently interviewed to Donald Trump on their podcast, “Bussin’ with the Boys.” They asked the once and future President about his sporting participation, and Trump revealed that he had played a little football in his youth.

“I played football, too. I didn’t particularly like it. I played tight end,” Trump said. “I could catch the ball good, but I didn’t particularly like having some guy that was lifting weights all day long and came from a bad neighborhood … and he sees me.”

The two ex-jocks laughed at Trump’s characterization, which of course meant they are racists, since obviously the reference to “bad neighborhoods” was a coded anti-black message. At least this was the narrative the Axis media was certain to adopt, and sure enough, a Washington Post reporter inquired of the pair, “What is amusing about Trump’s remark?” because it had received “a lot of attention online.”
