Comment of the Day: “The Tears of Keith Ellison”

Less to do with the original post and more concerned with weightier matters is this thoughtful comment by blameblakeart, the Comment of the Day:

“This event in Japan has crystalized for me Jack – we as Humanity, as Earthlings – are all in this together, side of the aisle being probably the least of our worries. We need to use our smarts and our will to manifest a better, more abundant, more perfect world, all together, not just for a chosen few.

“10000+ years ago there were hundreds of species that basically cease to exist. What the 8.9 Japanese earthquake tells at least me is that life is tremendously fleeting, but intensely beautiful, magic, and precious, of all things, Human and Of this Earth. I don’t know why there are those out there trying to distract us from these simple truths with all these bogus, hateful, incendiary tactics.”

  1. I’m sure we can all agree with the high-minded comment you highlight here Jack. But a read of the most recent blog entry at blameblakeart.wordpress.com spells out what the blameblakeart deems to be “”bogus, hateful, incendiary topics.” Specifically he claims the Wisconsin budget legislation and the Rep. King Islam hearings are all part of a nefarious, nameless conspiracy to pit the “99.5% have- nots” against each other. He offers nothing in the way of evidence or persuasive logic, and throws out the usual tired leftist tropes — conservatives are racist, liars and, my favorite, are trying to take away our right to voice our opinions. The last one is especially rich in that blameblakeart has argued in favor of the so-called “fairness doctrine.” I look forward to blameblakeart practicing what he preaches and “realizing we are all in this together.” Part of this includes intellectual honesty and addressing ideas on the merit as opposed to assuming those with whom you disagree are motivated by stupidity, hate or have been bought off by some evil dark forces.

    • Kurt, I’ll take words on their face value. Blakeart and I don’t agree on much, and truth be told, I can barely see his views with a telescope from where I am. I do not doubt his passion or sincerity, however, and like many illuminating sentiments, elements of his statement may be interpreted very differently by different individuals. That’s OK with me.

Calling public unions “have nots,” however, is pretty laughable, as is the romantic hysteria in support of a rigged and unethical system that is finally getting the scrutiny it has long deserved. I’m finishing a post on this—sorry it’s taken so long.
