  1. Agreed — totally dishonest. How many ordinary mortals could say, “Okay, I won’t.” And the pretending headline writer knows that. He/she is some kind of smarty-pants.

  2. I would love to get the numbers on people who get on the net to view photos of the JFK autopsy (as only one example). Why is “Criminal Minds” so popular (and on about five times a day)? We LOVE gross, horrifying, stories and photos of people murdered and maimed — unless, of course, it’s a member of our family or a friend that millions are looking at. Frankly, I think this is a typical, but not so pleasant, feature of the human psyche. (Like the traffic jams caused by gawkers of traffic accidents…)

Question to Jack: Why is it that though I give money each month to the ASPCA, I cannot bear to watch their television ads of suffering, maimed animals and pets, while I DO watch “Criminal Minds.” Because animals are innocents and somehow humans — however unlucky — are not? Don’t know, but I’m really really close to becoming a vegetarian… Animals we consider pets are food in other cultures, and vice versa. But somehow the degradation of other humans (aside, i think, from those who die in the military) is more tolerable. Is it ethics or psychology? The latter, I think.
