Incredibly, A Unanimous U.S. Supreme Court Rules Against The Democrats’ Theory That Illegal Immigrants Can Be Transformed Into Legal Immigrants After The Fact

See? The government isn’t completely crazy. Not for the first time, the Supreme Court has emphatically sided with the rule of law, confounding the Biden Administration and such Democratic Party stars as Senators Mazi Hirono (D-Hawaii), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Ed Markey (D-Mass.), Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), and former DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), among others. Along with them, we also had the Democrat attorneys general of Washington, D.C., Massachusetts, California, and 17 other states arguing for one more step on the way to open borders.

Best of all, the slap-down opinion was authored by Obama appointee Justice Elena Kagan, who wrote in Sanchez v. Mayorkas, issued today,

“Petitioner Jose Santos Sanchez entered this country unlawfully from El Salvador. Years later, because of unsafe living conditions in that country, the Government granted him Temporary Protected Status (TPS), entitling him to stay and work in the United States for as long as those conditions persist. Sanchez now wishes to become a lawful permanent resident (LPR) of the United States. The question here is whether the conferral of TPS enables him to obtain LPR status despite his unlawful entry. We hold that it does not.” She wrote further that U.S. immigration law, “applied according to its plain terms, prevents Sanchez from becoming an LPR. There is no dispute that Sanchez ‘entered the United States in the late 1990s unlawfully, without inspection…[U.S. law] generally requires a lawful admission before a person can obtain LPR status. Sanchez was not lawfully admitted, and his TPS does not alter that fact. He therefore cannot become a permanent resident of this country.”

Well what do you know! There are actual consequences of breaking U.S. law and illegally entering the country! As there should be of course, except that one side of the political spectrum, for the most cynical and undemocratic of motives, wants the U.S. to provide incentives for foreign citizens to break our laws.

There is hope…

  1. Does the fact that the petitioner wound up in the Supreme Court with Mayorkis as the named defendant indicate that The Biden INS chose to say no to Sanchez as well? It seems that when the government policy or agenda dovetails with plaintiff’s demands the government settles with favorable terms for the plaintiff

  2. My news appjust said, “Supreme Court Unanimously Rules Against Immigrants Seeking Green Cards.”

No media bias here and no dumbing down of the populace either…

      • If one were to read beyond the headline, the words “entered illegally” would appear. However, I will give you two guesses as to whether the majority of the riled up commenters made it to the first paragraph, much less later ones. The first guess doesn’t count.

Now I am not saying that generally right wing commenters on my news app are better than left, but today, well, the right wing at least sounded slightly more sane. The left wing commenters had some real gems today. (Please note that I am cleaning up language and grammar to be almost readable.) “In the country since 1991 and we can’t give them a green card, throw out the right wing extremists in the Supreme Court. They deserve ejection.” “What do you expect from a Trump court? Of course they voted against letting people into the country.” “Mein Dumpf’s rapist court couldn’t rule decently. This proves that Biden needs to stack the courts. It is the only way we’ll get justice back.” “What do you mean, they can’t get a green card. Read the article. They came into the country legally. We need to impeach those stupid right-wing radicals like Kagan and Kavanaugh.”

It only gets worse from there. I know that I cannot speak for our founding fathers, but my civics class taught that the electoral college was formed to protect the citizens from themselves. We were taught that the founding fathers wanted intelligent (elite and elector coming from the same base) people making the big decisions, not the uneducated, unwashed masses. If that is true, then I think one hour on my news app (not Twitter, not Facebook, but NEWS) would make them hang their heads in despair. It sure does me.

      • Jack, I don’t know if you read AOL and other similar news outlets, but it is so ridiculously editorialized, biased crap that it amazes me that anyone could force themselves to fall for it. It goes way beyond slant and dispenses pure conjecture as established fact, using emotionally-laden words like “baseless”,”debunked”, “criminally-“, and my favorite: the high-ranking official who agreed to speak “under condition of anonimity”.

  3. Pack the Court!

Hah! Sounds as if they’ll have to add TEN lefties. Those NAZIs Kagan and Kavanaugh! Indeed.

    • HAH! “Pack” was the first word out of my mouth, as I read this post of Jack’s.

Yep: and especially to be pushed for by the senators Jack named, this ruling is but one more step on the way…to making the courts do what the Democrats want them to do, and ONLY what the Democrats want them to do.

I can’t help interpreting – with great prejudice and suspicion – every unanimous SCOTUS ruling nowadays as a signal to the will-be court-packers, saying, “Pack us!” It couldn’t be clearer than Dirty Harry pointing his .44 and saying to a perp, “Go ahead – make my day!”
