An Analysis Of How The Government, The Resistance And The News Media Forfeited The Trust of The American People

I wish it were my analysis, although every component of it (I think) has been covered here in the past, most of them several times.

One of those elements is the complete betrayal of the American public and our democracy by the news media. President Trump was excoriated and condemned for his pronouncement of the mainstream media as the”enemy of the people,” typical meat-axe rhetoric for him in an area that calls for more nuance and restraint by a President, but he was generally right, and Ethics Alarms declared him so. Similarly, he decried the weaponization of “fake news,” an accusation which was undeniable, yet people of good will and intelligence (well, they were once anyway) denied it, no matter how many instances occurred before or afterwards.

Last week a Rasmussen poll—it’s a conservative outfit: the other pollsters wouldn’t dare ask the questions—reported that 58% of likely voters agree with the “enemy of the people” assessment. It’s amazing and disturbing that the figure isn’t much higher. Who are the 23% who told Rasmussen they “strongly disagreed” with that description? What are they? Idiots? Saboteurs? Relatives of journalists? Or just progressives covering for their allies in a hostile takeover of the culture and nation?

But as I said, this was just one element. The tweeted epic by “Martymade,” apparently a podcaster whose real name is Daryl Cooper, covers far more than that. He wrote this in a series of 36 tweets on July 8, making it essentially unreadable by people like me (especially people like me who have quit Twitter), but managed to “go viral” nonetheless. Tucker Carlson read it all on Fox, but of course it’s not Fox News viewers who need to consider the analysis, but everyone else.

Here is the whole thing, made possible by an innovative new app called Threadreader. It is long, but it needs to be long. It is also clear, and true; I cleaned it up a little for readers here:

I think I’ve had discussions with enough Boomer-tier Trump supporters who believe the 2020 election was fraudulent to extract a general theory about their perspective. It is also the perspective of most of the people at the Capitol on 1/6, and probably even Trump himself.

Most believe some or all of the theories involving midnight ballots, voting machines, etc, but what you find when you talk to them is that, while they’ll defend those positions with information they got from Hannity or Breitbart or whatever, they’re not particularly attached to them. Here are the facts – actual, confirmed facts – that shape their perspective:

1) The FBI/etc spied on the 2016 Trump campaign using evidence manufactured by the Clinton campaign. We now know that all involved knew it was fake from Day 1 (see: Brennan’s July 2016 memo, etc).

2) These are Tea Party people. The types who give their kids a pocket Constitution for their birthday and have Founding Fathers memes in their bios. The intel community spying on a presidential campaign using fake evidence (incl forged documents) is a big deal to them.

3) Everyone involved lied about their involvement as long as they could. We only learned the DNC paid for the manufactured evidence because of a court order. Comey denied on TV knowing the DNC paid for it, when we have emails from a year earlier proving that he knew.  This was true with everyone, from CIA Dir Brennan and Adam Schiff – who were on TV saying they’d seen clear evidence of collusion w/Russia, while admitting under oath behind closed doors that they hadn’t – all the way down the line. In the end we learned that it was ALL fake.

4) At first, many Trump people were worried there must be some collusion, because every media and  intel agency wouldn’t make it up out of nothing. When it was clear that they had made it up, people expected a reckoning, and shed many illusions about their government when it didn’t happen.

We know as fact: a) The Steele dossier was the sole evidence used to justify spying on the Trump campaign, b) The FBI knew the Steele dossier was a DNC op, c) Steele’s source told the FBI the info was unserious, and d) they did not inform the court of any of this and kept spying.

Trump supporters know the collusion case front and back. They went from worrying the collusion must be real, to suspecting it might be fake, to realizing it was a scam, then watched as every institution – agencies, the press, Congress, academia – gaslit them for another year. Worse, collusion was used to scare people away from working in the administration.* They knew their entire lives would be investigated. Many quit because they were being bankrupted by legal fees. The DOJ, the press, and government destroyed lives and actively subverted an elected administration.  This is where people whose political identity was largely defined by a naive belief in what they learned in Civics class began to see the outline of a regime that crossed all institutional boundaries, because it had stepped out of the shadows to unite against an interloper.

GOP propaganda still has many of them thinking in terms of partisan binaries, but A LOT of Trump supporters see that the regime is not partisan. They all know that the same institutions would have taken opposite sides if it was a Tulsi Gabbard vs Jeb Bush election.  It’s hard to describe to people on the Left (who are used to thinking of government as a conspiracy… Watergate, COINTELPRO, WMD, etc) how shocking and  disillusioning this was for people who encourage their sons to enlist in the Army, and hate people who don’t stand for the Anthem. They could have managed the shock if it only involved the government. But the behavior of the corporate press is really what radicalized them. They hate journalists more than they hate any politician or government official, because they feel most betrayed by them. **  The idea that the press is driven by ratings/sensationalism became untenable. If that were true, they’d be all over the Epstein story. The corporate press is the propaganda arm of the regime they now see in outline. Nothing anyone says will ever make them unsee that, period.

This is profoundly disorienting. Many of them don’t know for certain whether ballots were faked in November 2020, but they know for absolute certain that the press, the FBI, etc would lie to them if there was. They have every reason to believe that, and it’s probably true. They watched the press behave like animals for four years. Tens of millions of people will always see Kavanaugh as a gang rapist, based on nothing, because of CNN. And CNN seems proud of that. They led a lynch mob against a high school kid. They cheered on a summer of riots. They always claimed the media had liberal bias…fine, whatever. They still thought the press would admit the truth if they were cornered. Now they don’t. It’s a different thing to watch them invent stories wholecloth in order to destroy regular lives and spark mass violence. Time Mag told us that during the 2020 riots, there were weekly conference calls involving, among others, leaders of the protests, the local officials who refused to stop them, and media people who framed them for political effect. In Ukraine we call that a color revolution.

Throughout the summer, Democrat governors took advantage of COVID to change voting procedures. It wasn’t just the mail-ins (they lowered signature matching standards, etc). After the collusion scam, the fake impeachment, Trump people expected shenanigans.   Re: “fake impeachment”, we now know that Trump’s request for the Ukraine to cooperate with the DOJ regarding Biden’s activities in Ukraine was in support of an active investigation being pursued by the FBI and the Ukraine AG at the time, and so was a completely legitimate request. Then you get the Hunter laptop scandal. Big Tech ran a full-on censorship campaign against a major newspaper to protect a political candidate. [Fact.] Everyone knows it, all of the Tech companies now admit it was a “mistake” – but, ya know, the election’s over, so who cares? Goes without saying, but: If the NY Times had Don Jr’s laptop, full of pics of him smoking crack and engaging in group sex, lots of lurid family drama, emails describing direct corruption and backed up by the CEO of the company they were using, the NYT wouldn’t have been banned. Think back: Stories about Trump being pissed on by Russian prostitutes and blackmailed by Putin were promoted as fact, and the only evidence was a document paid for by his opposition and disavowed by its source. The NY Post was banned for reporting on true information.

The reaction of Trump people to all this was not, “no fair!” That’s how they felt about [the treatment of] Romney’s “binders of women” [line] in 2012. This is different. Now they see, correctly, that every institution is captured by people who will use any means to exclude them from the political process.

And yet they showed up in record numbers to vote. [Trump] got 13 million more votes than [he did] in 2016, 10 million more than Clinton got! As election night dragged on, they allowed themselves some hope. But when the four critical swing states (and only those states) went dark at midnight, they knew.  Over the ensuing weeks, they got shuffled around by grifters and media scam artists selling them conspiracy theories. They latched onto one, then another increasingly absurd theory as they tried to put a concrete name on something very real. Media & [Big] Tech did everything to make things worse. Everything about the election was strange – the changes to procedure, unprecedented mail-in voting, the delays, etc – but rather than admit that and make everything transparent, they banned discussion of it. Everyone knows that, just as Don Jr’s laptop would’ve been the story of the century, if everything about the election dispute was the same, except the parties were reversed, suspicions about the outcome would’ve been Taken Very Seriously. See 2016 for proof.

Even the courts’ refusal of the case gets nowhere with them, because of how the opposition embraced mass political violence. They’ll say, with good reason: What judge will stick his neck out for Trump knowing he’ll be destroyed in the media as a violent mob burns down his house?  It’s a fact, according to Time Magazine, that mass riots were planned in cities across the country if Trump won. Sure, they were “protests”, but they were planned by the same people as during the summer, and everyone knows what it would have meant. Judges have families, too.

Forget the ballot conspiracies. It’s a fact that governors used COVID to unconstitutionally alter election procedures (the Constitution states that only legislatures can do so) to help Biden to make up for a massive enthusiasm gap by gaming the mail-in ballot system. They knew it was unconstitutional, it’s right there in plain English. But they knew the cases wouldn’t see court until after the election. And what judge will toss millions of ballots because a governor broke the rules? The threat of mass riots wasn’t implied, it was direct.

So…a)The entrenched bureaucracy and  security state subverted Trump from Day 1, b) The press is part of the operation, c) Election rules were changed, d) Big Tech censors opposition, e) Political violence is legitimized and encouraged, f) Trump is banned from social media.

[Trump supporters] were led down some rabbit holes, but they are absolutely right that their government  is monopolized by a regime that believes they are beneath representation, and will observe no limits to keep them getting it.

Trump fans should be happy he lost; it might’ve kept him alive.

*Bravo to the author for highlighting this point, which I have made as well [JM].

**And they should feel betrayed [JM].

It’s me again, to say this: one doesn’t have to be a Trump supporter or a “Trump fan” to agree with this analysis. I do, almost completely.

  1. “Who are the 23% who told Rasmussen they “strongly disagreed” with that description? What are they? Idiots? Saboteurs? Relatives of journalists? Or just progressives covering for their allies in a hostile takeover of the culture and nation?”

The “news media” IS the enemy of the people. Of the 23% who “strongly disagreed” with that assessment, I would estimate that about half of that number is lying because they are also the enemy of the people, and the other half is just to stupid to know better. Intelligence is a bell curve, and some portion of the people really are going to be to stupid to make reasoned decisions.

Big Tech, Big Government, Big Corporate and Big Money are also the enemy of the people. They have all shredded every last fragment of integrity and ethics they ever had, stomped on the detritus, set it on fire, and scattered the ashes gleefully while dancing dementedly and blowing raspberries at the people.

It isn’t just political issues you cannot trust them on, because everything is political now. I don’t believe a single thing they say. In fact, I assume the opposite of whatever they say is true. If they deny something, then it’s true. If they support something, it’s clearly a load of crap. I don’t believe a damn thing they say. I’m not doing a damn thing they want me to.

Many things they say are obviously untrue even without the assumption they are lying. CRT isn’t being taught in schools, you say? Obviously, it is. There are videos going viral all over the internet proving that it is. CRT isn’t racist? Obviously, it is. “Be less white” wouldn’t be a catch phrase otherwise. BLM is a civil rights group protesting against racism? No, it isn’t. It’s a bunch of violent rioters setting things on fire, attacking people, and chanting black nationalist slogans. They look like the KKK. Antifa is “just” an idea? Well, that idea is awfully fucking corporeal, tossing Molotov cocktails, burning down cities, and assaulting anyone and everyone who they don’t agree with in rabid packs. They are nazi brown shirts, enforcing leftist policy and ideas extra-judicially.

Some things they have truly screwed themselves on, however. The media says the vaccine is safe and everyone should run out and get it? Bite me. I will let someone inject that shit into my body right after hell freezes over, pigs fly, and democrats resign from office en masse to contemplate the mistakes they have made. Never.

Elections are fair? That guarantees they are not. As far as I’m concerned, the left spent the entirety of Trump’s presidency conducting a color revolution, and we live in a totalitarian state under the left. They have already stripped us of our rights to free speech, religion, privacy, and fair trials. They can have my 2nd amendment rights when they pry them from my cold, dead fingers.

Big Tech is nothing but a leftist surveillance apparatus. They are evil and should be destroyed. The media can bite me. Big Corporate and Big Money likes China so much? They can just move there and shut the hell up. I hope they get all their assets seized by the Chinese government.

    • NP
So I gather you are not fond of the media😂😉.

Thanks for writing this now I don’t have to. I did get vaccinated. I never had bad reactions for any injection so I figured what the hell and my wife pushed me to make an appointment.

      • I despise the media, and obviously my displeasure with them sometimes boils over a bit.

Everyone should make their own decisions as to whether or not to get the vaccine or not. I have no problem with vaccines in general, and have had all my other vaccines without thinking twice about it. This vaccine is not a normal vaccine, and I would have been hesitant to take it right away regardless of whether I could trust the media and the science “experts” to tell the truth about it.

Ordinarily, I would gather data from how other people reacted to it and make an informed decision as to whether or not to take it. I cannot do that in this case. Big Tech, the media, and the government are actively censoring all the information about potential problems with the vaccine. Censorship of potential problems doesn’t encourage me that the vaccine is safe, it convinces me that it is not.

    • Considering that presidential assassinations are typically carried out by lone nutjobs, it’s more likely that someone with critical TDS would try to take him out. Even if the “establishment” was willing to arrange a hit on him, I strongly doubt they would, because anyone who’s NOT completely deranged would know that would make him a martyr.

    • I think he means that if all the various plots and efforts to remove him still didn’t work, the same forces aligned against him would find a way to take him out as a last resort. It’s a plausible theory.

  2. All really good and valid points raised by the author.

    Question:
Why after over four continuous years of one false anti-Trump narrative after another from the political left, and their Pravda like propaganda media foot soldiers, would anyone in the political right believe any narrative from the left’s proven liars? The left has been pushing more false narratives since the January 6th Capitol riot and since President Biden’s was inaugurated and that includes them justifying the Capitol police officers’ action in shooting and killing an unarmed protester that was not directly threatening the police officer or any other human being in the area. I’ve seen long time solid Republicans swallow whole the left’s January 6th riot narratives and turn them into blithering anti-Trump fools, and this is after they spent over four years pointing out the false narratives, propaganda and lies from the political left. I can’t explain why any Republican would take anything the left’s Pravda like propaganda media presents as truth or fact, they are proven liars.

“The media’s the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that’s power. Because they control the minds of the masses.” Malcolm X

If anyone thinks that the political left and their Pravda like propaganda machine is going to put away their population manipulation tools to control the minds of the masses and return to anything that resembles ethical behaviors is a special kind of stupid.

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

I think the propaganda has pushed the USA beyond the point of no return.

  3. He is spot on. I would add that the medical and science fields disgraced themselves by becoming political tools used to promote one authoritarian measure after another in the “fight” to control COVID 19. The NIH, CDC, etc., led by incompetents like Fauci, and to a lesser extent Birx, did serious damage to public trust of those institutions, as Null pointed out so dramatically. Those institutions must be apolitical but we saw time and again that they are run by agenda-driven fools pushing a DNC platform. Fauci’s “if you criticize me, you are criticizing science, which is criticizing truth” comment, unethical and frightening, illustrated the problem with blazing clarity.
