Someone was trying to make a point about the trying times in which we live is my guess. It was meant as a kinda nudge-nudge, wink-wink joke. Christmas isn’t about that. I vote stupidity.

Stupid though I think the facial expression leans towards malice.
I’d vote stupid. I’m not sure that picture was taken in the US based on the background though.
