I guess I’m going to have to show young Doocy more respect. The flagrant nepotism that allowed him to acquire an on-air job with Fox News made me reflexively suspicious of his qualifications, but he has proved himself to be a quick learner, a tough questioner, and as in this latest episode, gutsy.
Doocy asked President Biden’s paid liar Karine Jean-Pierre about Democratic claims that the 2016 election was “stolen” or illegitimate as a counterpoint to the President’s Reichstag address last week asserting that GOP rhetoric that Biden’s 2020 election victory was illicit threatened democracy. When Jean-Pierre ducked Doocy’s question, saying that the White House will focus on the present rather than 2016 (baseball fans recognize this as the “Mark McGwire Deflection”), Doocy read her some of her own past tweets, like…
“If denying an election is extreme now, why wasn’t it then?” Doocy asked.Nicely played, although the answer is easy: when Democrats claim an election was stolen, it’s justified. When Republicans do it, it’s fascism. But Karine didn’t have the integrity to say that, and opted for Ralph Kramden’s always edifying “Huminhuminahumina,” or words to that effect:
“So let’s be very clear that that comparison that you made is just ridiculous… I was talking specifically at that time of what was happening with voting rights and what was in danger of voting rights. That’s what I was speaking to at the time and here’s the thing, I have said, Governor Kemp won the election in Georgia. I’ve been clear about that. I have said President Trump won the election in 2016 and I’ve been clear about that.”
Well, “clear” except for the fact that in 2017 and 2019 she wrote that both stole their elections. I’m not going to dwell on poor Karine’s helpless thrashing about when properly caught in hypocrisy: she’s firmly in Julie Principle territory now. She’s not quick on her feet, unprepared, dishonest (but not good at lying, unlike her shameless predecessor), and incompetent, easily one of the most incompetent press secretaries in history—but, she’s the first black lesbian incompetent press secretary, and that’s what counts in this administration.
Let’s focus on Doocy, whose audacious gotcha! was justified and necessary. The Democratic Party’s double standard on this issue is spectacularly dishonest, insulting a public that they obviously believe has trouble remembering anything more than a month in the past. It required a high-profile exposé, and a reporter with the audacity to pull it off. For this false narrative isn’t just coming from the White House.
Rep. Jaime Raskin (D-Md.), speaking on CBS News’ “Face The Nation,” called the GOP a “fascist political party,” because “Two of the hallmarks of a fascist political party are, one, they don’t accept the results of elections that don’t go their way; and, two, they embrace political violence.” Yet Raskin himself described George W. Bush as a “court-appointed President” who was not rightfully elected. Raskin was also one of several House Democrats who objected to the certification of Trump’s Electoral College victory in January 2017.
The Republican National Committee had no trouble creating the video above of Democrats doing what President Biden claimed was an existential threat to the nation. All responsible journalists should be exposing this hypocrisy and challenging the White House on its double standard.
At least one of them was willing to do it.
I think you’ve been unnecessarily harsh on Peter Doocy for quite some time now. No question that his Daddy helped get him the job, but Peter is a far more capable reporter than his old man, whose main talents appear to be affability and a willingness to awaken at 3:45 in the morning.
I agree.
His dad was a local “pie-eating contests and other irrelevancies” reporter here in the DC area before Fox put him on the couch. Having him opine on political matters is like giveing Pauly Shore “Meet the Press.”
“The Republican National Committee had no trouble creating the video above of Democrats doing what President Biden claimed was an existential threat to the nation. ”
I am wondering when someone will put together a video montage of the rioting that took place on January 20, 2016, in DC and the violence fomented by the Canadian group Adbusters beginning in September, 2020. These events were political violence against the Trump administration and the Republicans in general. The link below compiles some of the commentary of the conspirator’s plans to disrupt government operations.

January 20 2017
We went from Kayleigh McEnany, to Jen Psaki, to Karine Jean-Pierre… And I can’t think of a more precipitous drop in talent in a public facing job ever. KJP is *so* very bad at this.
My question: has there ever been a worse one?
Well… Ron Zeigler was pretty awful. And Jay Carney had many of KJP’s flaws, without the added advantage of ticking the identity boxes.
But they both would have beaten her in Scrabble by 200 pts….
Jack Marshall asked, “My question: has there ever been a worse one?”
None that I can remember.
Karine Jean-Pierre is exceptionally talented at being transparently stupid.
I find it interesting that biden and his leftist cronies constantly call republicans fascists when the GOP stands for the free market, limited government interference in the economy and people’s lives, which is the exact opposite of fascism.
However, despite the claim leftists make that they cannot be fascists, their agenda promotes the same all powerful government central planing and controlling every aspect of people’s lives. And they’ve already demonstrated a capacity for suppression of all dissenting comment through censorship and blacklisting, plus a willingness to employ threats and violence to that end. If what they’re promoting isn’t fascism, then it can only be called totalitarianism.
Exactly,
This is why EC’s recommendation to have the opponent define fascism is important.
