…thus raising the immediate question of whether parents and particularly Jews are as dumb as the teachers apparently think they are. We shall see.
The Minneapolis Federation of Teachers passed a resolution on Oct. 25th to “condemn the role our [America] government plays in supporting the system of Israeli occupation and apartheid, which lies at the root of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.” In addition, the resolution demanded that Minnesota lawmakers repeal the state’s anti-BDS legislation.
Not surprisingly, there was a massive negative reaction to the October resolution because it revealed that a majority of the teachers in the union were..
- Anti-Semitic.
- Ignorant
- Completely in thrall to anti-white, anti-democratic ideology
- Excessively concerned with woke politics than with education, and
- Not sufficiently trustworthy to be teaching children.
- Missing basic ethics alarms.
Oopsie! The Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas sent a letter signed by over 800 citizens to interim Superintendent Rochelle Cox and the MPS school board protesting in part,
“For over a month, Jewish children in Minnesota have been bullied, gaslit, harassed, threatened, and even assaulted simply because they are Jewish..MFT’s resolution is antisemitic and hostile to our children, MPS staff, and puts our larger community at further risk because of their Jewish identity.”
“I just don’t think global politics has a place in the teachers union,” one Jewish parent told reporters. Ya think? But the teachers unions, particularly the NEA, have been hyper-active in promoting the American Left’s political agenda and allowed to get away with it thanks to apathetic parents who don’t care enough to block the ideological indoctrination of their own kids. (What do you mean you don’t think global politics has a place in the teachers union, you weenie? Global politics has no place in public schools period, unless it can be taught by objective, knowledgeable, trustworthy, ethical teachers, of which there are few.)
In response to the backlash (which these learned professionals were so biased that they didn’t see coming) the teachers union is holding a meeting today to “vote for a resolution acknowledging harm and affirming the purpose of our union.” A “never mind!” resolution will be passed retreating from the October resolution expressing the real sentiments and biases of the members, and acknowledging the harm done to Jewish members, students, and families by its inflammatory rhetoric while reaffirming “the purpose of our union.”
“While it was not MFT members’ intent, the ‘Israel-Palestine’ resolution passed at our October 25 meeting harmed many Jewish members, students, and families while causing unnecessary division within our union. We regret this,” the union announced.
Oh, I bet they do. The problem is that there are some deeds and words apologies and flip-flops cannot erase, and this was one, or should be. Responsible, intelligent, trustworthy teachers properly focused on education instead of promoting a woke revolution wouldn’t have endorsed such a despicable statement. The teachers made the epic error of revealing who and what they really are, and if so many parents in Minnesota didn’t either share their views or are so lazy and uninvolved in their children’s education that they aren’t paying attention, the teachers would be facing serious consequences.
Fortunately for them and unfortunately for the nation, the “We regret revealing what we really are, so please, forget we said anything” resolution will probably work just fine.
I don’t understand these parents. In all these cases where the school has scapegoated a child based on ideology or skin color, none of them sue to have the school system pay for the private education of the child.
What the people who support the right of teachers and professors to demonize people based on race, class, etc, don’t seem to understand is that those teachers and professors are required to give all their students and equal education and equal treatment for grades, recommendations, etc. When you have a teacher or a school that has demonstrated that they can’t treat a student fairly, they have failed that student. If the school system cannot treat the student fairly, the student needs to be able to go somewhere that can happen and the school system should pay for that.
I absolutely agree. These teachers cannot uniting the bell at this point.
These are the same people demanding redistributive justice for wrongs perceived to have been committed by another race generations ago. So as a member of the accused race I ask why they should not be required to carry the weight of their words indefinitely as they want others to.
Stupid AI. Unring not uniting
“Oh, I bet they do. The problem is that there are some deeds and words apologies and flip-flops cannot erase, and this was one, or should be.”
I think this statement deserves its own article. I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
