The Message, Not The Messenger…Ethics Quote of the Week: RFK, Jr.

Just because I would vote for a Muppet before I would vote for Kennedy, he accurately described not only why he has abandoned the corrupt and undemocratic Democratic Party, but why any Democrat with integrity should.

Ann Althouse chose basically the same excerpt from the speech that I would have, so I’ll give her the pointer on the official Ethics Quote of the Week:

“The DNC dragged us into court state after state…. It deployed DNC-aligned judges to throw me and other candidates off the ballot and to throw president Trump in jail. It ran a sham primary that was rigged to prevent any serious challenge to President Biden, then, when a predictably bungled debate  performance precipitated the palace coup against President Biden, the same shadowy DNC operatives appointed his successor also without an election. They installed a candidate who was so unpopular with voters that she dropped out in 2020 without winning a single delegate.

“My uncle and my father both relished debate. They prided themselves on their capacity to go toe-to-toe with any opponent in the battle over ideas. They would be astonished to learn of a Democratic party presidential nominee who, like Vice President Harris, has not appeared in a single interview or an unscripted encounter with voters for 35 days. This is profoundly undemocratic. How are people to choose when they don’t know who they are choosing? And how can this look to the rest of the world?

“My father and my uncle were always conscious of America’s image abroad because of our nation’s role as the template for democracy, the role model for Democratic processes, and the leader of the Free World. Instead of showing us her substance and character, the DNC and its media organs engineered a surge of popularity for Vice President Harris based upon… well, nothing. No policies, no interviews, no debates. Only smoke and mirrors and balloons in a highly produced Chicago circus….

“How did the Democratic party choose a candidate that has never done an interview or debate during the entire election cycle? We know the answer. They did it by weaponizing the government agencies. They did it by abandoning democracy. They did it by suing the opposition and by disenfranchising American voters. What most alarms me isn’t how the Democratic party conducts its internal affairs or runs its candidates. What alarms me is the resort to censorship and media control and the weaponization of the federal agencies when a US president colludes with or outright coerces media companies to censor political speech. It’s an attack on our most sacred right of free expression and that’s the very right upon which all of our other constitutional rights rest….

Bingo.

  1. None of the major networks carried that speech. CNN had him in the background while they talked over him.

I thought his statement thoroughly eviscerated the DNC and the media but unless it gets heard by the entire nation it will only be heard again after people lament the rise of the totalitarian left to total power.

    • If it is allowed to be heard at all once we’ve reached that point – as I am sure most are aware that a concerted effort has been underway to censor or outright ban anything contradicting/harmful/inconvenient to the current party narrative.

Any historical imperfections must be airbrushed away don’t ya know.

  2. I listened to RFK Jr’s entire speech.

The first section was really really damning against the Democrats and well deserved. This section of the speech should be shared far and wide.

The second section of the speech talking about Ukraine was very interesting. When the war between Russia and Ukraine started the approved narrative from the political left was, in a nutshell, that Putin is Evil and a war criminal. I don’t like Putin one bit, I never have, I didn’t agree (and still don’t agree) with him invading Ukraine. When I saw the same kind of political left propaganda delivery patterns with the Ukraine war rhetoric as I’ve seen so many times before, I was very skeptical. When the left’s narrative was being plastered in everyone’s face constantly from every left leaning media outlet in the USA and anyone that disagreed with the left’s narrative was tarred as some kind of “Putin lacky” or demonized in other ways, the following words started clanging very loudly in my head…

“The political left has shown its pattern of propaganda lies within their narratives so many times since 2016 that it’s beyond me why anyone would blindly accept any narrative that the political left and their lapdog media actively push?”

I made very similar statements regarding the Ukraine propaganda machine way back when that Ukraine mess started right here on this blog. The details that RFK Jr. shared related to what lead to the Ukraine/Russia were very interesting. I’m waiting to see how President Biden and VP Harris react to what RFK Jr. claimed. In my opinion, the Biden administration must respond. If the administration’s response is simply to restate the approved war propaganda narrative it’ll show me that what RFK Jr. claimed is very likely to be fact.

The third section regarding the chronic disease in the USA, he’s not the only one that’s been advocating for change in this area, the question I have is, with some of his anti-vax stances is he really the right person to spear-head this effort.

Overall; I think RFK Jr’s speech was very bold and courageous. The points he raised as an independent Presidential candidate needed to be elevated to the forefront of everyone’s minds. I’d like to see a lot more prominent people chime in with the same kind of speeches, especially classic liberals. Even if he wasn’t the “best” person to deliver such a speech, I think he did a pretty damn good job.

  3. By the way, the Democratic National Convention as a whole appears to be the straw that broke the camels back for Alan Dershowitz, he has left the Democratic Party and has stated so on a posted interview on Youtube. It’s a long video to watch and goes way off topic a lot, but you’ll get the gist.

The Democrats are eating their own and as far as I can tell, they’re so blindly extreme now that they’re enjoying the meal.

I’m hoping that Dershowitz does a video segment on his Youtube Dershow where he talks openly about RFK’s speech.
