Is Ann Althouse a secret weenie?
My favorite Wisconsin-based female retired law professor blogger revealed today that her blogging platform, Blogger, had taken down one of her posts as a violation of its “Hate Speech” policy. She was informed,
“Your post titled ‘Is the news of Biden’s advanced cancer news of a terrible scandal?’ was flagged to us for review. We have determined that it violates our guidelines and deleted the post, previously [here] Why was your blog post deleted? Your content has been evaluated according to our Hate Speech policy. Please visit our Community Guidelines page… to learn more…. We encourage you to review the full content of your blog posts to make sure they are in line with our standards as additional violations could result in termination of your blog.”
Ann says that she is going through the appeal process and expects to be exonerated with the post being restored. But she writes, “[W]hat jackassery! Was I “inciting hatred against” Joe Biden “on the basis of” his “disability”?!I’d linked to something titled “This is the Most Dangerous Cover-up in the History of the Presidency….” Ann then asks in bold, “Is “the most dangerous cover-up” something that must be… covered up?“
Damn right it is, if you’re an Axis-loving totalitarianism-enabling lackey, which clearly describes her blogging platform. The hooks of censorship that the last four years under Democratic Party rule and the regime of Big Tech, social media complicity sunk into our civic discourse are sharp and deep. I would not continue on such a platform, because Ann’s support advances its agenda. Blogger has revealed itself as a supporter of the “hate speech” con, and Althouse, as one of its marquee bloggers, has an obligation to tell the platform (a Google creation) to bite her.
If Althouse doesn’t, I have no sympathy for her. WordPress isn’t great (although it has stopped deleting whole paragraphs for no reason), but there has never been a hint of censorship or content control here, and I use a lot more inflammatory rhetoric than Althouse. There is a duty to confront, a time to stand, and the obligation to fight. If you duck them, you’re a weenie. This nation was not built by weenies.

I don’t believe she will leave Blogger for the same reason she hasn’t left it before – she doesn’t know how to export 21 years of posts and comments and she wants to have it all together on the same site.
Convenience over freedom of speech. Well, we all have our priorities. I question that one.
Perhaps she sees fighting to get them to admit they’re wrong as a greater victory.
It’s not as if she’s just shrugging it off, saying “Oh, well” and moving on.
