Friday Open Forum!

Gee, I don’t know what ethics news and issues you could want to discuss today…

Me, I’m just trying to decide which is more fatuous, the drivel I am reading from the Trump Deranged among my D.C. showbiz friends, who once had functioning brains even as you and I, on my Facebook feed (Did YOU know that there was a First Amendment right for illegal immigrants to riot?) or the selection Ann Althouse posted from Reddit regarding the crowd reaction to Trump’s appearance in the audience at the Kennedy Center performance of “Les Miserables”: “Honestly it sounds like a mix of both? Boos and cheers/clapping together. Because as disappointing as it is, there is a lot of people who literally reside up Trump’s ass crack & worship this man. I fully despise him and everything he stands for. And the fact that he simultaneously, gets to go to the theater and exist peacefully while terrorizing the immigrant populations in LA & around the US.”

That last could have been written by many of my friends, from whom I would withhold my comment that many Americans have the courtesy to treat the President of the United States with formal respect, as Americans have done since George Washington, without “literally” residing up the President’s ass crack…

  1. Just remember just as many of your friends probably had their noses so far up Obama’s butt that they were covered with poo. So they don’t get to criticize the other side’s devoted followers. Pray that the weather in DC doesn’t fall to crap tomorrow, I’d really like to see this parade turn out

  2. Wow it is quiet at the “Open Forum”.

What do people think about the Federalist article linked below. The article is critical about President Trump’s willingness to extend amnesty for some illegal aliens who have worked here for a long time.

    https://thefederalist.com/2025/06/13/by-promoting-amnesty-for-illegal-workers-trump-is-selling-out-america-first-for-cheap-labor/

Statements made by the President are “Our great Farmers and people in the Hotel and Leisure business have been stating that our very aggressive policy on immigration is taking very good, long time workers away from them, with those jobs being almost impossible to replace. In many cases the Criminals allowed into our Country by the VERY Stupid Biden Open Borders Policy are applying for those jobs. This is not good. We must protect our Farmers, but get the CRIMINALS OUT OF THE USA. Changes are coming!”

    and

“[Farmers] have very good workers; they’ve worked for them for 20 years. They’re not citizens, but they’ve turned out to be, you know, great. … We can’t take farmers and take all their people and send them back because they don’t have, maybe, what they’re supposed to have, maybe not.”

I am not going to give my analysis at this point; let me say that coming from an agricultural background I have some understanding for the perspective of the farmers who hire illegals.

  3. Everyone must be prepping for the parades tomorrow. Happy 250th US Army! This We’ll Defend.

I can disagree with some of Hegseth’s opinions and decisions. I will say the Army’s commercials have improved greatly since January 2025. Funnily enough, recruitment is up. Which of course is a reflection of economics. IMO, people who really want to serve in the armed forces aren’t as interested in DEI/social agenda–other than constitutional rights.

  4. I guess it’s better to be late.

Sorry to stink up Ethics Alarms with this foul smelling odor, but here’s some more low hanging unethical fruit.

National Rally On Saturday For Democracy, Be A Part Of History, Denounce Trump And Ignorant Supporters

That’s how moronic leftists seem to be thinking. Please notice that leftist morons are still saying that Trump is a “convicted rapist” even though that is literally a libelous statement. People like Humphrey, author of that post above, are liars.

Humphrey, and those that think like him, seem to have gone completely bonkers.

    • The comment I tried to submit is as follows…

Humphrey wrote, “This is what the United States of America looks like when citizens who understand democracy and the values of the nation…”

Actually Mr. Humphrey, that is what it looks like when there are a slew of ignorant gullible morons that have been brainwashed into believing all of the left’s misleading and lying propaganda.

I followed that up with an email directly to the author…

I’ve never been a Trump supporter but I’ve got enough critical thinking skills, logic, and genuine common sense to know full well that y’all have been completely duped by immoral and unethical, misleading and lying propaganda and you’re too absorbed with your Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) hate, absolute hate, to recognize it. That’s on you.

Y’all have a wonderful day tomorrow exercising your freedom to show the entire world what gullible fools you are.

I really hope there are lots of people doing video interviews with a lot of the moronic protesters at these “No Kings Mass Protest’s“. Just ask them a few simple questions like “why are you here” and let the crap spew forth.

  5. Regarding Kennedy Center embarassment- As I learned and taught and portrayed in one “Band of Brother ” scene, “You salute the rank not the man!:

  6. I’ve been meaning to post this for a couple weeks.

I recently finished reading “The Crossing” by Howard Fast from the early 1970s. This, of course, is the book upon which the movie was based.

I have previously said that the movie was excellent, and especially Jeff Daniels as Washington. Now having read the book, I think this may be one of the rare cases where the movie is actually better than the book.

Now, I enjoyed the book. It was a fairly detailed, and objective account of the retreat through New Jersey and the attack on Trenton. I learned a number of things reading it. Mr. Fast certainly did his research for this story.

Where the movie excels is the humanization of Washington and his officers and men. Too often, I think, we look on those who fought in the Revolution as these ancient historical figures. Movies such as “The Crossing” give a better picture of how passionate and determined these men could be.

One of my personal favorite scenes from the movie is the dinner scene where Washington confronts General Gates over his attack plans. That meeting did actually take place, although it apparently was private, and I expect that Gates did get a dressing down from Washington.

At any rate, I highly recommend both movie and book. They give us a good picture of one of the historic turning points in American history. Battles such as this are a good part of the reason for Bismarck’s famous quote about providence and the United States.
