It was a year ago yesterday that Joe Biden revealed for all to see that America had a senile President. This was established beyond all doubt when he responded to an early question in his debate with Donald Trump by muttering and slurring Authentic Frontier Gibberish, ending with the immortal declaration, “We beat…Medicare.”
Even though anyone with two neurons to rub together knew that moment was curtains for hopes of a Biden re-election, the Democrats tweeted out the flaming lie above.
Yesterday social media wags were taunting and mocking Democrats for a tweet that “hasn’t aged well,” but it’s not funny. It’s terrifying. That tweet demonstrated then and demonstrates now just how Orwellian, Machiavellian, dishonest, ruthless and untrustworthy the Democratic Party has become. It has no regard for transparency, no respect for the public, and no shame.
Even as it was engaging in “it isn’t what it is” disinformation, the Democrats were hustling behind the scenes to dump Biden from their ticket. They issued that tweet knowing full well that Biden didn’t win the debate, he disgraced himself in it. But like the committed totalitarians they are, his party directed its faithful to believe what they told them to believe. Biden won the debate as Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia.
A trustworthy, democracy-supporting, patriotic political party doesn’t issue a message like that. A dangerous political party does.
Ethics Alarms 
Imagine what would have happened if they hadn’t sent some sort of confirmation of their world view. The people fully committed to the left’s ideology would have seen anything other than a response like this as betrayal and maybe, just maybe, some of them would have had to try to reconcile what they saw with their beliefs, and that wouldn’t have gone over too well.
I work with people that freely admit that they won’t change their opinions based on the freely available evidence of what happened to the country from 2020 to early 2025. They deny reality to preserve their own “sanity.”
Indeed, I have engaged with such people whose response to facts is actually, “I don’t care!” They are beyond discussing the situation rationally. Don’t confuse them because they’re minds are made up.
EA had an enthusiastic commenter, “Liberal Dan,” who was banned here for displaying that attitude, essentially “Don’t confuse me with facts, my mind’s made up!”
It’s always sad. I don’t know if it’s the belief that they just know what their ideological opponents believe or if they prefer the echo chamber/containment field that protects them from differing opinions. Some strong delusion has grasped large numbers of previously reasonable people. I’d love to know what it is.
Again, “What’s wrong with these people?”
In it’s simplest form, the “strong delusion” you’re questioning is the beta test for the “strong delusion” with which you’re already familiar.

I loaned a copy of Dave Rubin’s Don’t Burn This Book to a person I work with, a die hard liberal, just to see if there was a chance of making a difference in her outlook on things. She couldn’t read it.
She is, generally, a smart, educated, pleasant individual who does her job well and keeps her politics out of view. But her refusal to read something that could counter her liberal ideology, was disturbing.

My husband revisited this week his live blog of the debate at “The American Catholic.” He had thought Biden to be suffering from dementia way back in 2020, but thought that those who didn’t follow politics and had the mainstream media for their main source of news would have been shocked at Biden’s performance that night.
. . . and to think that this was the same party and administration who had previously brought us the DHS’s Disinformation Governance Board to protect us all from disinformation on the Internet . . . .
