Addendum To “Ethics Update On the Axis Freakout Over Virginia and Tennessee’s Redistricting Results”

I realized that I hadn’t included any of the crazed (and hypocritical) freakouts over Tennessee eliminating the Memphis district that had voted in one of the worst (white) Democratic members of Congress for years, Steve Cohen.

Here’s one especially silly example: Rep. Antonio Parkinson (D) demanded that Tennessee allow Memphis to “secede” because of the redistricting.“Let Memphis secede from the state of Tennessee!” he said.“Let my people go. I’m dead serious. If you’re constantly beating on us, let us out.”

Parkinson represents part of Shelby County, which includes Memphis.“This is about whether Memphis, a majority-Black economic engine for this state, is expected to continue contributing billions in tax revenue, culture, labor and commerce while being systematically stripped of political power.” Which it is presumed to exercise only by voting for black candidates? Are the Republicans in such areas being stripped of their political power? Should they have to give up their state citizenship because Democrats are throwing a tantrum?

Parkinson said that if the state’s elected officials no longer believe “the people of Memphis deserve the ability to choose a representative who reflects their community, then at least have the courage to say it plainly. Do not hide behind maps and procedure.” What does “reflect the community” mean?

Parkinson has called for the city to secede before. Are we going back to city states now?

What an idiot.

  1. So a part of country run by a white democrat with crazy economic ideas who is in a position of power because he very strictly leads the daily thoughts of a population of black Americans wants to secede?

    In 2026?

    • There’s that word again: “community.” Whenever “community” appears, it’s a flashing red light that a minority is about to say they are aggrieved and therefore you are about to be shaken down by them.

  2. And wait, isn’t Steve Cohen white? And Jewish. And he makes Adam Schiff and Jamie Raskin look statesmanlike? His losing his comfy seat is an attack upon black people?

    • Steve Cohen’s opponent is a black Republican. But as Democrats (e.g. Joe Biden) have indicated in the past, you are not really black if you do not vote Democrat.

  3. Only if they let all of the red rural areas in the blue states free. Upstate New York, Western Virginia, the vast stretches of rural California, Eastern Oregon and Eastern Washington are all sick of the crap coming from the capitals of those states.

I don’t think they’d be OK with that trade. Especially with the two senators all those new states would get.

    • Christian Heiens proposes a different trade:

This is an incredible tactic that Red states should be employing everywhere.

Honestly, just dissolve local governments at this point for most Blue cities. They’ve repeatedly proven that they can’t govern themselves.

There’s literally zero reason for cities like Memphis or St. Louis to still have city councils or mayors that serve as nothing more than patronage machines to prop up Leftism in a state where it would otherwise cease to exist.

Dissolve the city councils, abolish the office of mayor, and have the Governor directly appoint a Viceroy to rule these cities with an iron fist.
