Finally, if we look in majority Muslim countries, countries where they hold the power, we see other religions persecuted and killed, women brutalized, and jihad recommended with children learning that heaven awaits those who kill and brutalize.

So why are the Muslim commands mentioned above so bad if they keep it to themselves?  Well, the first idea, 4 wives, creates problems in a world where the sexes are essentially equal in number.  The rich get four women, which leaves few women for the poor.  The majority of people do desire marriage and children, from a biological imperative if nothing else, and while it is a stereotype that men are always horny, a stereotype almost always has a basis in reality.  Many men do very much want to have sex and a lot of it.  This is a desire that Western civilization has previously tried to convince men to rein in and control. 

Several Christian traditions have held the idea that consecrated virginity is a great thing, and that while all are called to chastity, some people have the calling to celibacy.  This gives the Judeo-Christian world a call to control their sexuality.  Islam, through its laws, does not encourage control here.  Between the promise of seventy-two virgins in heaven, suggesting rampant sex, the allowing of multiple wives in your own faith and concubines of women from other faiths says that control over your desires is not a goal.  This also essentially drives these problems out of their community and into ours.  If you may win concubines through trickery or force, and the whole of your religion allows you to do whatever you please to the non-believers, why not traffic in women so that the men who are denied wives due to lack of parity in marriage laws may still have the sexual pleasure they desire?

There is also the problem of a religion allowing girls to be married off young and consummating marriages before puberty.  If your religion allows or encourages adult men to have sex with prepubescent girls, there is no reason to respect any of our laws about age of consent.  Indeed, the idea of a woman consenting is not really a major concern in Islam. The religion is anti-woman, and truly, anti-society.   

The other problem that leads us to this point is intersectionality.  According to Wikipedia, “intersectionality is an analytical framework for understanding how groups’ and individuals’ social and political identities result in unique combinations of discrimination and privilege. Examples of these intersecting and overlapping factors include gender, caste, sex, race, ethnicity, class, sexuality, religion, disability, physical appearance, and age.”  Intersectionality, at least as applied, seems to me to be a mental illness, a comparison of who has it worse, rather than a way to say “here’s what I need to do to make my life better” which would be far more productive.  But intersectionality has become more than a way for everyone to get a slice of the “victim” pie as we have here in the US. Its logical conclusion in the UK is to allow Muslims to claim higher “victim” status than women, so they have a license to rape. A woman who is gang raped is not the victim, but the Pakistani Muslims who rape her are the victims because of intersectionality.  It is wrong to complain of being raped if you are a white woman.

 Many times throughout this report it is mentioned that the police and social workers are informed of these problems and for every one of those girls and their families, nothing significant was done.  The accusations made the by police and other officials that the girls and their families were committing racism are disgusting.  The idea that the fear of being accused of being racist silenced other officials is just as bad. 

But not only was there the problem of these people being accused of racism or disbelieved.  Instead, teachers, social workers, police and health professionals would sometimes encourage the rapists while silencing their female victims. One of the rape victims said that the rapes weren’t as bad as the responses from the people she once thought were her protectors.   

“One survivor, identified only as Fiona…testified that, on one occasion, a police officer returned her to a house where abuse was taking place and told the men to ‘have fun with her.’ On another occasion, she said police told the abusers that if they could persuade her to sign herself out of care, authorities would stop pursuing the case.” The report also cited a survivor’s account of a police call handler who, after being told the men abusing her daughter appeared to be Asian, allegedly responded: “You can’t describe them as Asian men because that’s racist. You should just be glad your child is being taught a different culture.” “According to the report, social services “undermined protective parents, placed children in trafficking hubs inside children’s homes, closed cases despite clear indicators of exploitation, and retaliated against whistleblowers.” The report said the National Health Service “recorded genital injuries, multiple sexually transmitted infections in children as young as 13, pregnancies caused by rape, and suicide attempts, yet discharged victims back to their abusers without safeguarding referrals or trauma care.”

There are other statements in this horrifying report that say between paperwork and fear of being called nasty names like “racist, xenophobe, Islamophobic, etc”, people decided to bury their heads in the sand and just ignore problems.  I know that if any of my daughters were ever in this situation, with this kind of “police protection,” would easily move my needle to “shoot, shovel, and shut up” and other redneck/cowboy attitudes.  Vigilante justice is not what we want for any nation, but if this is how “justice” is served, it seems that vigilante justice is the only option.

This is a major warning and wake-up call for the US.  Women must not fear being tarred as racist or Islamophobic to stand against majority Muslim immigration.  We cannot be the “nice” person in the room, but instead must stand up for our rights before we become another statistic.  We need to restrict immigration by people who are likely to cause societal deterioration.  We need to consider separating large communities of immigrants like the Roman empire did when functioning at its peak.  Mostly, we need to accept that people, no matter their skin color, religion, place of origin, sex, or other characteristic, are human and thus have the potential for both ethical and unethical action, and thus hold everyone to high standards with consequences for failure. 

I fear for my sex and my future, perhaps more importantly for my daughters’ futures since we have done such a stellar job of standing up to men in women’s bathrooms.  If we cannot learn from the UK’s tragedy, we will imitate it.
