Let’s see:
- Because the best soccer players happened not to be black?
- Because the team was constructed according to ability, not DEI mandates?
- Because sports are not supposed to be about race?
- Because sane fans don’t demand that athletic teams “look like them”?
- Hey, you’re right! Funny, I didn’t notice because I was watching the game. Are there any Asians?
A wag from Argentina responded on X, “Because we are a country, not a Disney movie.”
Yeah, that too.
Hey WaPo, next riveting questions for your readers who have lost interest in the Lincoln Algae Pool: Why doesn’t the U.S. team have more Black goal keepers? Why aren’t their more Black people living in Antarctica? Why cant Trump just admit that his orange color is just Black envy?
WaPo’s question could be reframed as “Could Sweden’s devastating loss to Netherlands be attributed to their difficiancy of Black people on their team?”
To boot, when Sweden’s 9 literally gave the ball to Netherlands(53:29) it was just a brother helping another brother score a 4th goal because he couldn’t score a goal on a white team, I suppose.
Watching Ecuador v. Curacau, I can’t help wondering why there aren’t any whit players on either team. Maybe it’s a plantation thing, the coaches look white.
”Because we are a country, not a Disney movie.”
Good response, preferably followed by, “Moron.”

I don’t know, how many white players is Ivory Coast fielding against Germany right now?
…
I checked. It’s zero.
funny, I am visiting my in-laws and Haiti was playing Scotland, I think.
she asked which was which.
I responded, “Haiti is the bunch of black players in white and Scotland is the bunch of white players in blue.
she laughed and called me racist.

Tomorrow’s WaPo story: “Why aren’t their more white players in the NFL, NBA and MLB?”
There’s also the fact that Argentina has only about a 0.7 percent sub-Saharan African population, and a very small mixed-race citizenry. Part of that IS due to official policies and programs in the late 19th-early 20th centuries aimed at reducing minorities. Buenos Aries feels more like a European city (with a worse banking system but way better steaks) than S. American. No wonder the Germans ran there.
According to google, Argentinas black population is 1-2%. Statistically speaking that would make it very rare indeed to have black players as professional athletes since just being in the running is also a statistically rare. I wish more people took statistics in college. If they did, this would be understood. This doesn’t even get into general preferences or any economic factors. (For example, few, if any, professional athletes are from 1a schools due to lack of recruiting, competition and coaching) My area doesn’t even have soccer. We have football, track, softball, baseball, basketball, rodeo, and dance. If you were the most talented person alive in soccer you’d never know it. It’s not played.
As someone who is below 6’5, I should sue the NBA for not allowing me to participate. Inclusion for all!
Just wait until they find our the New Zealand team is called the “All Whites”! Heads will explode.
