The Senator is wrong: that loss of trust is Fauci’s most positive legacy. Americans were foolish to place the trust they did into experts, scientists just being among the most unworthy. They are all human beings, they are corruptible, usually greedy and, as Paul notes, arrogant. We should never have trusted them with the blind confidence that Fauci demanded, just as we have learned—I hope—that we can’t trust journalists, educators, professors, historians, journalists (duh), lawyers, and, as I have recently learned to my sorrow, legal ethicists. Fauci was so blazingly confident in his scam that he gave the nation a lesson it should never forget.
I wish I could say will never forget.
Yesterday the frosting on this unethical cake was the revelations in Fauci’s diary. They included evidence that he knew that the Wuhan virus had probably not escaped from a “wet market” as he was telling the news media and others, that his assertions to the public were deliberately more certain-sounding than they were in fact, and he giddily reveled in his fame and popularity, as in this passage:
He bragged about being “mobbed by groupies” and humbly lamented that “millions” of people love him. The diary reveals Fauci as a small man drunk on power and influence.
In another entry, Fauci wrote about suffering a pulmonary infarction, which is one of the adverse events NIH, CDC, and FDA said were risks of the vaccine. Fauci had been vaccinated at a very public press conference, then five months later had the health event. It was covered up. His diary proves that he knew the risk of death from the Wuhan virus was about 0.2% in the general population, meaning it was even lower among the young and healthy; nevertheless he urged vaccinations for everyone, including infants.
Fauci wrote about how much the stock market dropped when he said that the pandemic was ten times more deadly than the flu. The same day he wrote another entry saying that he believed it was no more dangerous than the flu. He has denied that he was responsible for schools closing. His diary boasts…
HHS Secretary Robert Kennedy wrote, “He lied about masks. He lied about social distancing. He lied about transmission. He lied about natural immunity. He lied about the vaccine’s capacity to prevent infection.” All true. Here is another telling entry:
Trump was right. Not to be conspiratorial, but I wonder who those loving people were that Fauci cared about? The main beneficiaries of killing President Trump’s economy and getting a demented puppet into the White House, mayhap, with the help of the most corrupted election this century?
It was telling that Dr. Fauci began the hearing by saying that it “pains me” to invoke his constitutional right against self-incrimination. He accused Paul, who convened today’s hearing, of seeking to lay a so-called perjury trap. What utter B.S. It’s easy to avoid a “perjury trap”: tell the truth. Admittedly, Fauci has trouble in that department.
Fauci was pardoned by President Biden’s autopen, so he faces no legal consequences for his lies and other unconscionable conduct during the pandemic. He is apparently so terrified of the truth coming out that he prefers to risk a contempt of Congress charge. Democrats, meanwhile, again proved themselves shameless and complicit in Fauci’s machinations, incredibly praising Fauci as a hero despite the mountains of evidence proving his villainy and its terrible and lasting consequences. As Sen. Paul said in his opening statement,
“Children lost years of education, small businesses built over a lifetime disappeared, patients delayed cancer screenings and other medical care, families were separated from dying relatives, workers were ordered to accept a medical procedure or lose their jobs, worship assembly, employment, education, and travel were restricted in the name of science.”
Among the businesses killed by Fauci’s lies was mine; among the casualties of his lockdown was my wife. As I have said, however, I was on to Fauci long before the results of his actions started directly affecting me. As I wrote in April,
“…Ethics Alarms (and many commenters here) had taken the position that the lockdown of the schools and the economy was a near suicidal act made politically unavoidable by the teachers unions, the news media and the “experts” who were, like Fauci, asserting dire consequences as “science” when they were in fact only guesses or worse, deliberate lies to advance a partisan agenda. The mask nearly fell off when the same “experts” [who had] insisted that white people avoid groups larger than five declared that there was an exception for George Floyd mobs because, see, racism is a public health threat. It was, or should have been, so obvious what was going on, but Fauci played saintly doctor beautifully, bolstered by Axis propaganda…”
Well, the mask is finally off. And Lon Cheney can’t compete with the ugliness revealed beneath.

You are still giving Fauci more credit that he deserves. When the coronavirus research was being done at UNC, it escaped the lab. It was contained, and the researchers, of course, said this was actually a good thing, because they now could make their protocols better. Then it go out again. Again, they said they now knew how it got out and it wouldn’t happen again. Then it got out again. That is why gain of function research was banned in the first place. This project was the reason.
Of course, the deep state at NIH wasn’t going to follow regulation by Congress. They were above that. They gave the funding to Peter Dazak and EcoHealth Alliance who shuttled the researach to Wuhan, in partnership with the PLA.
Fauci knew all of this. There was no guesswork of where this came from. He knew all along. All those panels to determine the source of the infection weren’t to tell Fauci where it came from, it was to determine if anyone else could figure it out. When it turned out that it was pretty obvious where it came from, he began the coverup. The evidence was in plain sight. Ted Cruz read off the grants to EcoHealth Alliance to Wuhan in the Senate in the spring of 2020!
Fauci and Collins had science journals change results to support the narrative. When a CDC study on the effectiveness of masks found that masks do nothing to stop the spread, the researchers were ordered to withdraw the paper and apologize. When the Great Barrington Declaration tried to claw back some semblance of scientific objectivity, a letter written by Peter Dazak and his staff was published in science journals and in the press as evidence that the ‘scientific consensus’ was against it. Although these journals have since ‘apologized’ for their ‘lapse in judgement’, they knew where all this came from. They knew the truth and they lied.
Fauci was also involved in the Moderna vaccine. Moderna had never had a product before, this was it. They finished the vaccine in 2018, but without a use, they would soon have gone out of business. In 2020, they only had to make small changes to account for the small mutations of the virus, that is how they were able to make the vaccine so fast. They had spent years doing it and finished it in 2018.
Fauci knew all of this. He knew all along. All the talk about if this was a man-made virus, whether this was gain-of-function research is pure gaslighting and they are still doing it.
All of the deaths that happened are on his hands and the hands of all the people who covered up the truth. That includes Fauci, Collins, the entire NIH, and the entire scientific publishing industry.
I knew all this by 2021. I have been aghast that people have been absorbing the lies when the truth was out there, plain to see. You just had to accept the fact that all our ‘authorities’ were lying. It required critical thinking skills and those are obviously few and far between. I am amazed that people are not willing to accept that their leaders are obviously evil.
I have been very disappointed in the research professors that rolled over by government mandate. I had noticed the decline in quality of scientific research and researchers over the previous 25 years. I thought it was just a consequence of politicians trying to ‘spread out’ the research money to more constituency. This diminished the quality of research and the originality of the research. Now, I wonder if it wasn’t an intentional decision to neutralize the independent scientific voice. During the Challenger inquiry, they put Richard Feynman on the board. When they put the final report before him, it was a whitewash. It blamed the very lower-level people who had sounded the alarm and were ignored and glorified the higher-level people who arrogantly and ignorantly ignored the warnings. Feynman refused to sign. He wrote his own, separate report, and published it. They couldn’t control him. He was a famous scientist nearing retirement. What could they do to him other than kill him? They couldn’t threaten his career or grants or his personal finances or his reputation. I wonder if the government saw this and decided to neutralize this threat to their narrative. Intentional or not, they have proven that they have neutralized it.
If you wonder if people knew, it wasn’t just me. During a faculty meeting in 2021, a humanities professor stood up and stated “This university should be ashamed. The only department that is ‘antivax’ is our science department. Why are we tolerating a science department that is antiscience!” I also received an e-mail that wasn’t meant for me that year. It lambasted me for what I was telling the students about the Wuhan virus and the MRNA gene therapies. I was shocked. Who was this person and how did they know what I was telling my students? Then I figured it out. It wasn’t meant for me, it was meant for a professor at a university 1500 miles away. I noted that it seems the non-research faculty know, so the research faculty know as well, they are just lying about it.

Yet Holy Cross renamed a science building after him. HC produced some genuine heroes, like Joseph O’Callaghan, Bernard Trainor, Christopher Mahoney (our first four-star officer) and two classmates of mine who were a career FBI agent and a Chicago FD Deputy District Chief, but Fauci isn’t part of that company.
I think in some ways he’s as bad as Bernie Madoff, destroying lives and careers and businesses for the sake of power, but at least Madoff wasn’t a double standards slug, ticketing mothers for walking their kids in the park to stave off cabin fever but being perfectly ok with violent protests.
Well, all previous trials of the MRNA vaccine killed every animal subject upon later exposure. 100%. They thought they had it fixed in people, so they got the government to waive the animal trials. The public was the animal trial. If they had been wrong, everyone who got the vaccine would have died. Every single one. What should be done to such a person?

“Perjury trap” is literally an oxymoron. Anyone with a functioning brain knows that, although to be fair, his lawyers probably insisted he use that fake term of art.

The whole l’affaire de COVID and its aftermath was a farce, and Fauci should be ashamed of his starring role in it. He acted like a star-struck little girl during COVID and helped do grave harm to the country, and refuses any accountability for his actions.
In fact, the rise of the communists (oops, “Democratic Socialists”) are a direct result of his machinations, not to mention the closely related ethics fiascoes of the BLM riots and the rise of DEI. Every one of these things can be traced back to the COVID response, and he was driving that clown car. I had never heard the term until defenders of Bill Clinton started throwing it around. As you know, this was one of the reasons I started my first ethics website, “The Ethics Scoreboard.” It is, of course, ridiculous. No one is “tricked” into committing perjury. And they made sure to claim that the African-American community was more vulnerable to Covid because racism. Their allies in the news media skewed their reporting, as well. Lockdown protestors were “most not wearing masks or practicing social distancing” while the BLM/Floyd rioters were “most wearing masks”.
I have no doubt Covid was dangerous to the elderly and people with compromised immune systems, just as the flu is dangerous to those same people. I also understand that some people let Covid go untreated until it became too serious. That’s what happened to one of Mr. Golden’s co-workers who got sick, didn’t get treatment, ended up hospitalized and whose spouse dug in his heels on putting her on a ventilator until it was too late. It’s heartbreaking when there are deaths, especially preventable ones.
Democrats ignored the Pandemic until the stock market starting slipping, then quickly seized on shutting everything down for as long as possible to harm the strong economy and, by extension, harm Trump’s re-election chances. They blatantly ignored their own orders while demanding that everyone else follow it without question. The media was complicit in this. They pooh-poohed the idea of a viable vaccine until after the 2020 election, then pushed it as strenuously as they had the lockdowns. This was a politicized pandemic, weaponized against the Trump administration to cause it to lose the election and has caused damage that we probably won’t fully be able to tabulate for another generation. The economy, education and overall health of our country still hasn’t recovered and neither has the supply chain. Trust in our institutions is at an all-time low thanks to these villains.

I read widely around that time, and there were reliable sources saying the fatality rate was extremely low for healthy people. The stats also didn’t account for people who were terminal and had accelerated deaths vs someone just keeling over.
Anyway, sometimes you can just tell when someone is lying. The moment I fully realized was the about face on the masks. I don’t know if you remember, but were told before the lockdowns and such that simple masks didn’t do much and wouldn’t really prevent transmission. Then, it shifted.
Fauci always seemed like a shyster to me. He is the type of person that would work in a university. People with a weird bookish kind of intelligence who can literally do nothing else and are incompetent fools in every other way. The Great Barrington declaration turned out to be the truth after all.

Of course, if he came clean, tons of other people would be prosecuted. I suspect he’d rather remain in the position he’s in right now. Being able to plead the Fifth keeps him from having to come clean and name names or at least put names in a damning light.
That’s a great quote by Rand Paul about trust. We have to be able to question experts because producing competent answers to those questions is what makes them experts. Authority in general works similarly, in most cases.
