To begin with, ‘I’m sorry that what I did that was completely innocent and shouldn’t have been taken any other way by the two alleged victims of my quote “unprofessional and inappropriate behavior” unquote are poisoned by feminist propaganda that they couldn’t tell that I was just being friendly, kind and attentive’ is not a real apology. On the 1-10 level Apology Scale, that’s a #11, the The Impossible Apology:

“An inherently unbelievable apology for conduct or words so unethical and so extreme that nobody could possibly say or engage it accidentally or unintentionally. Such an apology for words or conduct of signature significance, indicating that the speaker or wrongdoer is unethical and untrustworthy because no individual who is ethical and trustworthy would behave in such a manner even once, is not merely cynical and a travesty, but insulting to its intended audience.”

Yeah, let’s examine what the committee found. It found that Edwards gave two female staffers “lavish and recurring gifts,” including more than $1,000 worth of jewelry, vacations, designer handbags and one-on-one dinners. As a result, one of the staffers told a friend she felt “scared low-key” because it was clear that Edwards no longer viewed her as just a friend, especially after Edwards arranged a surprise birthday performance for her and said it was “from a special someone.” This pattern of conduct gave “the appearance of a sexual or romantic advance,” the report said.

Gee, ya think?

What’s the matter with this guy? How can any man or supervisor in 2026 somehow miss the sexual harassment cultural shift that began when Senator Bob Packwood was exposed as a serial harasser in 1992, thirty-four years ago?

I’d like someone to give Edwards the equivalent of the tongue-lashing the judge gave an idiot lawyer who let an AI bot prepare his brief: “Do you watch the news? Do you listen to the radio? Do you read anything about what’s going on in the world?…. you have buried your head in the sand…that’s an intentional choice to be uninformed.” A member of Congress being so clueless about the components of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment is even worse, much worse, than a lawyer not understanding the problems associated with that AI thingy.

Permit me to add two related items.

• The single Congressman who voted against Edwards’ censure (other than Edwards himself) was Ralph Norman (R-S.C.), widely viewed as the most conservative member of Congress.He once pulled out a loaded gun during a heated conversation with representatives of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America (MDA). He wanted Trump to declare martial law to stop Biden from being sworn in as President in 2021. In the wake of the [contrived] sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh in his confirmation hearing, Norman asking an audience, “Did y’all hear this latest late-breaking news on the Kavanaugh hearings? … Ruth Bader Ginsburg came out saying she was groped by Abraham Lincoln!” Yes, the man’s an idiot. The country’s in the very best of hands.
• The Clintons put out a want ad for Clinton Foundation interns, one for Bill and one for Hillary. Bill Clinton’s position calls for “using discretion in scheduling,” while Hillary’s internship requires a “high level of professionalism and discretion.” The jokes write themselves.
