I could write full posts about many of these, and if I had time, I would. The networks and the Axis want to ignore it and are trying to bury it in negatives, but the event is obviously news, and attention should be paid….
Observations:
1. Competence! If this was the President’s idea, it was a great one. The GOP has to get voters to the polls (or to mailboxes, if he can’t stem mail-in balloting). If the event picks up just one or two percentage points in Republican voter participation, it will have been a success. If Republicans hold Congress, I guarantee both parties will make this tactic a tradition.
Incidentally, adding a mid-term convention is another so-called “democratic norm” that Trump is violating. The Horror.
2. Fetterman! One of the two biggest stories to come out of last night’s opening of the convention was Senator John Fetterman’s surprise video appearance, shot in front of a steel mill. Fetterman praised and endorsed his fellow Pennsylvania Senator David McCormick, a Republican, and said that they would work together “and work with President Trump and defend the steel way of life.” This makes Fetterman the Ethics Hero of the convention thus far. It also tells Democrats that if they are going to try convict Trump after a House impeachment and try to pack the Supreme Court, they will need to flip an extra Senate seat to their side.
At one point in time Trump was a businessman who understood powerfully getting to the point was crucial to inspiring others to agree and support your stated objectives. Today’s Trump has lost the plot and apparently the skills to deliver strong, clear communication. Two hours!? Who, in our attention span challenged world, would or even could follow a speech that long? Throw in his incredibly irritating pattern of speaking and it’s a disaster.
Here’s a clue for the President, address issues and policies, especially this prolonged war, and let others lead your Party toward the future with realistic and positive ideas and goals.
Forget about TDS, many are just fatigued with his childish and boorish behaviors and foolish pronouncements. Be at least a little statesmanlike for goodness sake. Mr. President, you’re killing your Party.
Please define prolonged war. So far, the conflict has lasted slightly less time than the Libyan bombing campaign that created a failed state under the Obama administration. Obviously, we could end this with one thermo-nuclear detonation over Tehran but that might be seen as overkill. Everyone wants world peace but lacks any stomach to eliminate existential threats to global freedom and prosperity. Imagine for a moment if today’s electorate made the decision not to get involved in WWII. If FDR faced the same political headwinds that Trump now faces for just about everything Stalin would have owned his ass at Yalta and Operation Overlord would never have occurred ensuring Europe to be dominated by one nation Germany.
As for affordability, everyone wants low prices and high wages but that will only be achieved for some when others have to work at a discount. We all want more but most want others to pay for it. Let’s be honest, progressives are not fighting to protect the potential opportunities for black and brown illegal immigrants, they want more non-whites keeping the wage rates down because they want to be the ones with the higher wages. They like the idea that all these illegal aliens reinforce their political power by locating in progressive cities that wind up getting more representation in the House favorable to their progressive causes. It is a self-reinforcing policy. The beauty of this is that it dilutes the political power of the opposition. The problem is that too many low-wage workers create higher demand for all sorts of basic needs driving prices up
Yes, I too tire of the silly name changes but what concerns me more is the idea that the few who promise the mob more stuff by taking it (under the color of law) from others with more will accumulate more power and ultimately become the Pigs on the Farm who live large while the hardest workers will be eventually euthanized when they no longer serve the state. So, Trump’s antics are a small price to pay to ensure that the United States remains a land of opportunity for all and not just the connected few who will be no different that Russian oligarchs who bleed the proletariat or use them as cannon fodder for their expansionist goals.
Define “War”. Iran has been at war with us since 1979. We’ve just been powerful enough to essentially pretend like it’s a periodically recurring sideshow for a very long time.

The war is prolonged as his predictions were measured in weeks, not months. And explain to the American people.
Simply put, return to your businesslike communication style from whatever the F this is.
