Apparently today WordPress stealth-altered the commenting software, or something. As Michael R. determined, you now have to select ‘Add Your Name’, then fill in your name and e-mail to a popup box in order to post. That used to be under the text box. (Thanks, Michael.)
I grovel at the feet of those of you who lost comments due to this change. I can’t comment on my own posts at all due to a long-standing glitch, so I have no way of knowing about these things. I think this change was an emergency response to a recent glut of spam attacks, which I have been aware of over the last week.
These things sometimes happen. Let me know when you get this straightened out and I will forward you my comments. Sent from my iPhoneOn Oct 12, 2026,
I’m still seeing lots of comments. As soon as I get a spare hour, I’ll take this up with the %^&$%#@ “Happiness engineers”…
It seems to be working better now.
I was incorrect; it only left my comment up for about 30 seconds then POOF!
Let me do a test……
I’m typing this out while already logged into WordPress (I see my username below)…
All of a sudden, I can comment once again as Old Bill. Can’t comment from my phone though.
That being said, some of my comments seem not to appear immediately, or ever.
