Update: Guilfoyle has resigned. See below]
President Trump has “asked” the ludicrous Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, to resign, says Katie Zacharia, the new White House Paid Liar.
Good, sort of. This political grifter should never have been appointed in the first place, and never should have been confirmed when she was. She was a solid bet to become a walking, talking black eye to the Trump Administration and the U.S. and sure enough, that’s what happened. Never mind! Appointing assorted incompetents, narcissists, liars, crooks and scumbags isn’t this President’s worst flaw, but it is a bad one. It is also one that he’s never going to shake.
It is true that sending incompetent, corrupt and persons of otherwise dubious character as ambassadors to nations that are allies and relatively stable is a tradition as old as Betsy Ross, but “Everybody Does It” is no excuse, especially when the practice ends up letting someone like Kimberly Guilfoyle represent the U.S. in anything more weighty than a pig-calling competition.
Her qualification for the job was that she is the former fiancée of Donald Trump Jr. She is also the former wife of Gavin Newsom, and I will eschew the temptation to expound on the significance of that. She’s a professional trophy wife.
Guilfoyle recently made headlines by asking Trump donor Eric Deters to wire $100,000 to her American Express account. “She was so desperate for that $100,000. It was a quid pro quo,” Deters said in an interview with NBC News. “She said I could ask her for anything and everything in Trump world. There was no request too big.”
Anything?? When an infamous bimbo like Guilfoyle says that…well, the imagination runs wild. My imagination, anyway. Too bad about the cosmetic surgery, Kim.
“We have asked Ambassador Guilfoyle to resign,” Zacharia said during her first briefing yesterday. “She has been a wonderful asset to the team, and we wish her well.” What a debut! Three lies in 21 words:
- Being asked to resign by POTUS is being fired.
- She has been a festering sore on “the team” and everyone knows it.
- They wish she would sink into the earth and stay there.
So should we all.

This Kimberley’s resignation statement, posted on Twitter/X:

How about an Ambassadorial qualifications list before nominating someone? I realize we might be reduced to people in the diplomatic core ranks who are probably all die-hard Progressives by now, but surely we can come up with better ambassadors than we do.
A M Golden: “They should not be political donors.“
Ooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh! You were so close to having a realistically serviceable list, and then you blew it with your idealism.

Language familiarity and willingness to learn it is too strict a requirement. It would effectively limit lots of posts to expats of the country involved.
Maybe. Or career diplomats who have experience serving in those countries or who studied those languages for a career in the service.
Career diplomats are simply functionaries. They’re the deep state, overseas branch.
Good riddance. Having a certain appearance, nice legs and a high end education doesn’t qualify you for most things.
Having a certain appearance… like the one in the photo accompanying this post which makes her look like a large mouth bass should certainly have no sway in determining qualification status.
That look is one of the many tell-tale signs of botched “work.” Have you seen Courtney Cox lately?
First, I figured being sent to Greece was a way of getting her as far away from the Trump inner circle as possible after she broke up with Don, Jr., hoping that she couldn’t do too much damange to our Greece-US relationship. It seems she might have been a decent Ambassador to Greece.
Second, as for the ambassadorship to Greece, I understand that these posts are handed out to friends of the current administration.
My wife and I are watching the third (and hopefully final) season of “The Diplomat.” Keri Russell is hard to watch – she has no real stage/screen presence, has no depth of character, her performance is wooden and uninspiring, and the dialogue is stilted and less-than-interesting. The relationship between the husband and wife is tortuous to watch.
However, I do find it interesting that the husband and wife are using the ambassadorship and a potential VP seat as a means of implementing their own policies and agendas, which are not in line with the current administration’s goals. I suspect that is not far from reality. We saw the entrenched bureacrats slow-walk (if not outright defy) Trump’s instructions in Trump 1.0; that does not seem to be too much of an issue in Trump 2.0.

Boy, completely disagree on “The Diplomat.” I’ve been watching Kerry Russell since she was a kid, and I think she’s matured into an excellent actress. Rufus Sewell, as her trouble-making husband, is always excellent in everything. The plots are, shall we say, overwrought. But I look forward to season #4. Also loved the casting of Michael McKean as a Trumpish POTUS and Allison Janney as the VP.
Rufus Sewell is great.
