Last Halloween, actress-model-“media personality” and podcaster Julia Fox dressed as Jackie in her blood-stained pink outfit with the pill box hat.

She gets sort-of a pass from EA: Fox was born and raised in Italy, and should not be expected to entirely grok the full impact of the historical earthquakes her adopted country has endured. But she forfeits that pass for her epically stupid justification of the stunt. She called its message a mix of “beauty and horror” and “poise and devastation,” and wrote,
“I’m dressed as Jackie Kennedy in the pink suit. Not as a costume, but as a statement. When her husband was assassinated, she refused to change out of her blood-stained clothes, saying, ‘I want them to see what they’ve done.’ The image of the delicate pink suit splattered with blood is one of the most haunting juxtapositions in modern history. Her decision not to change clothes, even after being encouraged to, was an act of extraordinary bravery. It was performance, protest, and mourning all at once. A woman weaponizing image and grace to expose brutality. It’s about trauma, power, and how femininity itself is a form of resistance.””
Nice try, bitch. Actually, not even that. It took “extraordinary bravery” for Jackie not to worry about her appearance while events were swirling around her after the President of the United States had been assassinated? If Jackie really said, “I want them to see what they’ve done,” she was either hysterical or disturbingly dim: I’m pretty sure “they” didn’t consider staining her dress their primary offense. “Not only did you blow my husband’s head apart, YOU RUINED MY DRESS!” Fox joins DePron on my long, long list of celebrities whose opinions on anything won’t cause me to look up from my sock drawer.
Meanwhile, a homeowner in Minnesota, a Democrat, mounted this light-hearted Halloween display in his yard:

It features a homemade wooden guillotine poised to behead a figure holding a campaign pamphlet for Republican state House candidate Jessica L. Johnson. Nice. But then the party that controls Minnesota contains lots of leaders and members who cheered the assassination of Charlie Kirk and wish death on President Trump while insisting that MAGA supporters should be attacked, prosecuted or jailed. “The left has a serious problem,” a Minnesota GOP account posted.
What was your first clue, Sherlock? I’d say the whole country has a serious problem because of what the Democratic Party is morphing into while so many apathetic or dullard voters lack the acuity to grasp the significance of the threat.
A glib comedienne might say “too soon?”
But there are some episodes in history that should never be the butt of jokes. Brutal, public assassination is one of them.
