As We Watch The Hillary Corrupted News Media Today Facilitate Her Campaign’s Furious And Desperate Attack On James Comey, Let Us Not Forget What The Real Threat To The Election’s Integrity Is…[UPDATED]

pointing-up

…and that would be the dangerous alliance between the party controlling in the White House and the organizations and individuals trusted by the public to fairly and objectively inform it sufficiently to make a responsible choice.

I’ll be covering the astounding wave of disinformation, distortions and unethical conduct by those who should know better in the ongoing effort to crucify James Comey in a bit. Meanwhile, another Wikileaks hack provides some more perspective on the perils to democracy posed by the Democratic Party’s and the Clinton organization’s belief that cheating is an acceptable way to obtain and keep power.

As Ethics Alarms pointed out, DNC Chair Donna Brazile melted into sputtering protests, denials and gibberish when confronted with the clear evidence, via a Wikileaks hacked e-mail, that she unethically used her position at CNN to pass along a question to Hillary Clinton in advance of a CNN town meeting, so Clinton could prepare an answer in advance (and pretend that she had no prior knowledge of the question. This kind of lie, and it is a lie, never makes it onto the lists when Hillary enablers claim that Trump lies more than she does.) She would never do that!, Donna postured.

Another e-mail, from the same source, shows that this too was a lie.

In the latest revelation, Brazile, still working for CNN and bound by journalism ethics, told Hillary what question was on the way, and identified the questioner:

donna-b-tweet

“Rigging,” anyone?

This is evidence of news media collusion, campaign cheating, lying, and, per Brazile’s indignant denials, a cover-up, and a pretty inept one at that. If there was nothing wrong with it, Brazile and the campaign would admit she did it. CNN and the Democratic Party would apologize for it. An ethical candidate—wait, wait-I’m sorry, the fact that I am raising the hypothetical existence of an ethical Clinton candidacy nearly made me break out in a hebephrenic fit—an ethical candidate would have told Brazile, “Don’t do this! I’m not going to cheat; I can answer any questions without getting crib sheets from you! Cut it out!”

But no. Brazile now is the official leader of the Democratic Party’s national campaign and spokesperson for the party itself. This means, by definition, that the party endorses this conduct—secretly using the news media to give Clinton an unfair advantage, misleading the public, lying, and cheating. The current talking point being handed out to all Democratic surrogates, meanwhile is this: “We can’t let the Russians interfere with the election [ see previous post on this deflection here] , and—I’m going to start giggling again“the e-mails haven’t been authenticated.”

Recall that Brazile was moved into her current position after other e-mail leaks showed that the DNC staff was actively “rigging” the nomination for Hillary Clinton. When this was discovered, Rep. Debby Wasserman Schultz was forced to resign…and was hired by Hillary Clinton within hours.

It wasn’t that the cheating by Wasserman Schultz was considered wrong or corrosive to basic democratic values that got her dismissed. It was that she didn’t get away with it.

And again I have to ask, because I’m very interested in know how deep Hillary Clinton’s corruption of her party and the public goes:

Are there no Democrats who see what’s wrong with this, or who perceive the threat it poses to democracy? Are there no progressives who are embarrassed to have their banner carried by such unethical people? Are there no liberals who see the danger in a “press,” now extending to electronic and broadcast media, which sees its role as an ally of power rather than a constant check on it?

Or is this whole side of the American ideological spectrum fully committed and comfortable with “the ends justify the means” as its ethical standard? Is this what we will be voting for, if we conclude that Donald Trump must not become President?

I really want to know.

UPDATED: CNN has announced that it has severed ties with Donna Brazile. Every other news organization should as well. We shall see.

  1. Jack asked, “is this whole side of the American ideological spectrum fully committed and comfortable with “the ends justify the means” as its ethical standard? Is this what we will be voting for, if we conclude that Donald Trump must not become President?”

The “the ends justify the means” is exactly what people will be voting for if they choose to vote for Clinton. If people vote for Clinton as a means to the keep Trump out of the White House then it is also saying that “the ends (keeping Trump out of the White House) justify the means (voting for the ends justify the means)”.

    • That’s the kind of statement that Capt. Kirk used to make computer villains blow up!

      • Jack said, “That’s the kind of statement that Capt. Kirk used to make computer villains blow up!”

The infamous infinite loop; that’s exactly what I was going for. 🙂

The price this nation pays may not end at a Hilary presidency and all that entails. The media has now decided that it’s perfectly all right to go full-on attack dog against the candidate it decides is not in this nation’s best interest. There is nothing to stop them from doing that again, and for far less than Trump’s real and imagined offenses. There is also nothing to stop them from continuing the current practice of burying any story that is not favorable to their chosen officeholders.

Where this is all heading, as is pretty much the case in the northeast, on the west coast, and in most major cities, is one-party rule, coupled with sneering, barely concealed contempt for anyone not a member of that party. .

Yes. A vote for Clinton is a vote for the-ends-justify-the-means. The left has made no secret of this being their position for the last 100 years.

    • Joe Fowler said, “The left has made no secret of this being their position for the last 100 years.”

      Hyperbole?

The Trotsky quote is generally translated as : A means can be justified only by its end. But the end in its turn needs to be justified.
It’s from his book published in 1938, “Their Morals and Ours”, it may be a reiteration of previous writing. Bearing in mind that as a translation, it may not fully convey the meaning intended, I’ll stand by my previous post, even though we are a bit short of 100 years.

        • JutGory

I will give you your 100 years. The progressive movement started over 100 years ago and it has repeatedly relied on the manipulation of the people and the Constitution to achieve its ends.

  3. Just saying: One “l” (letter “EL”) in “facilitate.”

On the substance of your post, Jack, I believe “…the organizations and individuals trusted by the public to fairly and objectively inform [the public] sufficiently to make a responsible choice” is actually (but unverifiably, unfortunately) in error – an error of presumption, perhaps. I really do not believe that even the more “ignorant” American public continues to be very trusting any longer of the organizations and individuals that most Americans formerly trusted like the sun coming up.

    • luckyesteeyoreman

Oh. Somehow, I missed your update. Wow. But, you see? To those of us who are less ignorant, Brazile’s being cut off is no more than a lame and tentative “maybe” as to whether there is a revival of integrity, somewhere – and, to someone utterly saturated with cynicism like me (whether I am one of the “less ignorant” or not), it’s just another maneuver to help the Cntons. For the truly ignorant who are the un-trusting I just referred to above, Brazile’s disconnection from CNN is nothing. Who knows who’s right? Maybe the severing is all part of the schedule, to prepare her for her next job in the Cntons administration.

    • One of about 10 words that I am incapable of learning to spell correctly, and type wrong every time. The most embarrassing one is “receive.” Fixed.

  4. Jack wrote, “In the latest revelation, Brazile, still working for CNN and bound by journalism ethics, …”

I almost hurt myself from laughing. Brazile bound by ethics. That’s a good one. I can’t breath. Sheesh.

I just assumed that Jack was using his improved sarcasm (thanks to me). I laughed too, but I always must remain humble – yet with a critical eye.

Well it’s all over folks. Huma is going to jail and I predict that Hillary if elected will have a very short time in office.

  5. Other Bill

Wasserman Schult and Brazile and Abedin and McAuliffe and Weiner and Lanny Davis and the Ragin Cajun are all mezmerized by the tsunami of cash constantly disgorging itself from the Clintons. So are all their other political operative hangers on. The Clintons have the wherewithal to make any and all of them RICH if they deign to do so.

  6. Why did it take CNN so long? Shouldn’t they have cut ties with her when she became the head of the DNC to avoid the appearance of a connection between the mainstream media and the Clinton Campaign?

  7. zoebrain

This behaviour is wrong. Unacceptable. It should be front page news, because it should be extraordinary and unusual.

Apparently it isn’t. That’s a far bigger worry than just feeding one question to a candidate. Signature significance.

  8. From Ann Althouse, speaking of Brazile’s conduct: “It was a debate in Flint, Michigan, so it was completely predictable that there would be questions about Flint’s water problem. The help isn’t even that helpful. Why cheat for so little reason? It suggests cheating means just about nothing to you. ”

Cheating does appear to be considered no big deal to Hillary, the Democrats, and the Corrupted….after all, their hearts are pure. Are my progressive friends really OK with being led by people like this?
    What happened to their values?

    • Eternal Optometrist

I asked a Hillary supporter this today (disclaimer: I’m not voting for Hillary or Trump). No big deal, every politician does it. Didn’t sway her in the least. Not even the slightest crack in the façade.

        • Steve-O-in-NJ

I put out one or two tentative feelers asking some of my more intelligent liberal social media friends about this. All I got was this is corrupt, someone got to Comey, the bottom fell out of Comey’s ethics, I’m even more motivated to vote blue, and President Hillary will appoint a woman to take Comey’s place.

  9. Spartan

Do you know what is really bothering me about this? What a stupid reason to cheat or to generally compromise one’s journalistic code.

“Pssst. Hillary, be sure to be prepared to talk about the Flint water crisis. I mean, I know you’ve been stumping on this issue for MONTHS now, but I just want to make sure you know that someone is going to ask you about one of your favorite issues. Okay? Don’t tell anybody I told you!”

    Idiots.

    • Spartan said, “Do you know what is really bothering me about this? What a stupid reason to cheat or to generally compromise one’s journalistic code.”

      You nailed it!!

Unfortunately that’s what political hacks do.

      The Ends Justify The Means

    • As I noted on another thread:

From Ann Althouse, speaking of Brazile’s conduct: “It was a debate in Flint, Michigan, so it was completely predictable that there would be questions about Flint’s water problem. The help isn’t even that helpful. Why cheat for so little reason? It suggests cheating means just about nothing to you. ”

Not merely idiots, but absurdly unethical idiots.
