CNN anchor Brianna Keilar gave her audience a segment yesterday, in which she unequivocally called out Democratic mayors , governors and other officials by name and party for their stunning pattern of hypocrisy regarding Wuhan virus restrictions that somehow never seemed to apply to them.
“A number of Democratic leaders, apologizing or reversing course, after multiple occurrences of “do as I say, not as I do, she began. “They have been caught, not following their own coronavirus guidelines.”
Keillar then documented with video and narration the arrogant conduct and subsequent apologies of some (but not all) of the leaders she referred to: San Francisco, Mayor London Breed, California Governor Gavin Newsom, Los Angeles County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, San Jose, California, Mayor Sam Liccardo, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, and Denver Mayor Michael Hancock . She omitted, presumably for time considerations, D.C. Mayor Bowser, Chicago Mayor Lightfoot, New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio, Austin Mayor Steve Austin, Speaker of the House Nancy Peloisi, and others. There was another one caught today, as Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards confirmed the authenticity of a photograph taken of him socializing maskless and in close contact with others at the Baton Rouge Country Club in mid-November just before enacting stricter pandemic lockdowns for the state.
Keillar continued stating the obvious:
The past few weeks brought into relief a pattern of leaders failing to lead by example, asking Americans to make sacrifices that they, themselves, are unwilling to make, and appearing sorry only when they’re caught.
Trust is built slowly but it evaporates faster than reservations at a fancy restaurant.A lot of these leaders, they are looking across the aisle to blame Republicans who aren’t taking mask wearing seriously. But maybe, it’s time they also look in the mirror and ask themselves if that was really worth it.
I considered designating Keillor an Ethics Hero for this rare criticism of Democrats from its CNN allies, but doing what would be routine for an ethical journalist—Remember them?_—should not make an unethical one praiseworthy. (I’ve made that mistake before.) Conservative pundit Ed Morrissey gave the reliable CNN hack “kudos”for informing her audience of the undeniable truth, ignoring the fact that the segment was sandwiched between two routine CNN Trump-bashing segments. I will give kudos to journalists when they report all of the news straight and fairly. As I noted earlier, the mainstream media’s four years of politically motivated distortions to undermine the Trump Presidency and to support the many Democratic soft coup attempts and Big Lies are what really stole this election from Trump.
Morrissey did further illuminate Keillor’s point by adding,
Even when they do get caught and are forced to respond, they’re not terribly sorry for anything other than having to explain themselves. For instance, here’s Austin mayor Steve Adler apologizing for lecturing his constituents about unnecessary travel and gatherings while he partied in Cabo San Lucas. It’s an apology, but for causing “confusion,” couched in laments about how much his family had already sacrificed in the pandemic..Adler thinks the rules that he sets only apply to the hoi polloi and not to their enlightened progressive autocrats, er, leaders..
Morrissey’s piece is titled, “CNN anchor: What is it with Democrat leaders and COVID-19 hypocrisy?” Actually, Keillor never asks that question, and Morrissey’s answer is still too polite. Sometimes only vulgarity will do, and this is such a time. These people are assholes, in a party that has suddenly become over-run by assholes, truly terrible human beings who are not fit to lead and who corrupt our values, our manners, our government and our culture with their sheer, odious ambition, ruthlessness, dishonesty and hatefulness. Maybe some of the officials called out by Keillor would have behaved this way on their own; maybe all of them, but I have to believe that the disgusting behavior modeled over the past four years and more by Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer, Harry Reid, Elizabeth Warren, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, Jerry Nadler, John Lewis, Maxine Waters and others turned the Democrats into a Party of Assholes.
And that, tragically, is the nation’s present curse.
Qu’ils mangent de la brioche…
Locally sourced and non-GMO, of the course! Mon dieu!
Hunter’s Observation on hypocrites:
“A person without values or standards can never be a hypocrite.”
Who is Hunter?
The guy who made that observation. A pal of Murphy’s.
Jack I was assured this was misleading and therefore false by USA Today because…. um…. republicans or something.
This asshole-ness has filtered down to the rank and file lefties in my orbit. I’m still wary of opening anyone’s Facebook post, or even an email, knowing full well there will be an unsolicited and usually non-fact-based anti-Trump swipe thrown in for no apparent reason. Why do they fell impelled and entitled to do that? Is it some sort of password that’s required of the enlightened. “Halt. Who goes there?” seems to require a jab at Trump. “Well okay! You’re one of us then! Proceed.” This is in most cases because (I guess) I was in favor of the vast majority of Trump’s policies and was not apoplectic he trod the earth. Which is evidently verboten. I’m going to assume this behavior is going to continue for months, if not years. A nation of assholes indeed.
“A nation of assholes indeed.”
Seeing you’re now included in my email contacts, do you expect this situation to:
*Improve
*Remain stable, or
*Worsen…?
It seems to become habitual to the point of compulsive. Just not sure. Maybe they’ll move on to appending things like “Black Lives Matter” and “There are too many billionaires” here and there.
I think the nation of assholes willersist as long as the vast majority of people act out the myth of ostriches with their heads in the sand. Just listening to the Michigan testimony of the people who witnessed election fraud is such an affront to our American values that it’s hard to believe anyone would simply dismiss these acts. However, there’s no MSM covering this and as long as that blackout continues, the assholes have what they want–power over the rest of us.
Should have been “will persist” rather than “willersist”
Off point, but possibly of mild of interest to you (and some of the other oldsters here…like me), THIS is (or was) “Los Angeles County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl”.
Beat you to it!

Arrrrrgh, you did indeed! Does this mean I’ll have to actually start paying attention to your baseball-centric posts?
Only if you want to be enlightened, uplifted, and inspired.
Hmmm, tough choice…Can I have some time to think about it? 😉
“I have to believe that the disgusting behavior modeled over the past four years and more by [list of assholes deleted for brevity] turned the Democrats into a Party of Assholes.”
That’s one major factor, and the other one is that these people have an expectation that they won’t be held accountable, either by their voting base or the press. And they’re generally correct about that. This gives them license to do shitty things, knowing that if they do get caught, a weak half-ass apology will suffice to mollify a press corps that doesn’t really think anything a Democrat does is truly wrong, unless they commit the One True Sin, which is of course, offering praise of any kind to a Republican. Ask Dianne Feinstein about that.
Here in Austin, most of the news coverage of Adler’s “lapse in judgement” consisted of just playing his apology video. Nobody in this town is going to hold that scumbag’s feet to the fire. Actually, I shouldn’t call him a scumbag. It’s insulting to bags designed to contain scum, which do their job better than Steve Adler does his.
The NY Post piles on:

Were I to see THAT cover in the grocery store checkout line, a $#!t-eatin’ grin would grace my puss!

No need to hold back like that, Jack. Say whst you really feel.
But seriously, we have to get rid of this assholery. We’ve seen what happens when it runs rampant, as with the GOP.
Suppressing it, or pretending it doesn’t happen, as we have done for decades, is no longer enough. It must be eradicated.
I don’t care if that’s interpreted as “go thou and sin no more”, with a line drawn under the past, as long as it ceases. Instantly and completely. With condign punishment for recurrence, no more forgiveness or looking the other way.
The GOP asshole class was 2000-2004.
She turned them into a Newt…. but it didn’t get better.
