Yet More Evidence Of An Already Self-Evident Proposition: Our Journalists Are Disgustingly Biased and “Enemies of the People”: The NYC ISIS Terrorist Attack

I have mused several time here that anyone who seriously asserts in a comment that the mainstream media isn’t fatally biased against conservatives, Republicans, and, naturally, President Trump risks being banned from the commenting wars. I have yet to act on that threat, because only one respectable commenter has challenged me on that assertion, one who has earned a multitude of Ethics Alarms brownie points for good faith and courageous arguments that often run counter to the currents here.

Nonetheless, the position is untenable, and has been for years. The latest example days ago when a smoking IED was tossed at a group of protestors outside Gracie Mansion by an ISIS-supporting terrorist yelling “Allah Ackbar!” Since the U.S. is in the process of attacking Iran, and since the mainstream media is committed to elevating the welfare of Muslims (and illegal immigrants, and violent criminals, Somali fraudsters, anti-American elected officials and international foes of the U.S….) over the interests of law-abiding, loyal and patriotic American citizens, the mainstream media immediately framed the attempted terrorist act as a bigoted attack on NYC’s Muslim Communist mayor Zohran Mamdani:

CBS announced, “Improvised explosive found at protests near Manhattan’s Gracie Mansion, Mamdani’s official residence, NYPD says.”

NBC:

UPI: “Suspicious devices ignited at anti-Islam protest in New York”

The Hill: “Device ignited at Gracie Mansion protest was explosive: NYPD.”

I admit it: I was fooled. I thought, based on perusing the reports, that the bombs, which the NYT initially described without noting that they were explosive, were hurled by anti-Islam protesters.

CNN’s framing was so disgusting that the Axis news network had to issue a retraction, which itself was misleading:

  1. I have mused several time here that anyone who seriously asserts in a comment that the mainstream media isn’t fatally biased against conservatives, Republicans, and, naturally, President Trump risks being banned from the commenting wars.

    […]

The news media is untrustworthy, biased and antithetical to a functioning democracy. Foiling them was one of the primary reasons (among many) why I felt it was crucial for Donald Trump to prevail in the 2024 election.

Some ideas of Andrew Torba that I sense have relevancy:

“We are living through the first AI war.

“Most people don’t see it yet because the battlefield doesn’t look like a battlefield. The battlefield is your timeline.

“While missiles and drones fly overseas, a second war is unfolding across the internet. Within minutes of any major event, the information environment is flooded, filtered, and manipulated. Videos vanish. Posts disappear. Certain narratives rocket to the top of every feed while others are quietly buried.

“The modern internet is no longer a neutral space where people exchange information and argue about reality. It is an immense network of algorithms deciding what billions of people see, what they don’t see, and what they will believe happened. How is it that in 2026 when we have billions of devices with cameras and high speed internet all over the world we aren’t seeing any footage of what is going on in Iran or Israel? We saw more back in the early 2000’s with the war in in Iraq than we do now.

“The reason for this is because platforms like X, Facebook, TikTok and others rely heavily on automated moderation systems and AI-driven tools that scan the entire network in real time. Content can be flagged, limited, or removed within seconds, long before the public ever has a chance to see it let alone debate it. Censorship is only half the story. The other half is narrative warfare.

“Governments, political campaigns, intelligence services, marketing firms, activist groups, and media organizations all understand the same brutal truth of the internet age: if you control the narrative online, you control how millions of people interpret reality.”

  2. I’m glad you’re covering this Jack. I saw all of this already, and it is absolutely infuriating. The grossly partisan reporting is nuts, and I don’t know when or how it ends.

  3. The Babylon Bee would not be able to improve on the CNN tweet, farcical as it looks. Leftism is a brain virus. The following video shows how seriously affected Walter Masterson, counter protester, is affected by this brain virus, as the two terrorist threw bombs over his head.

  4. So the left’s Pravda like media and leftist politicians directly imply or state outright that the two bomb throwing terrorists were anti-Muslim racist conservative wingnuts from the extreme right lobbing IED’s at the Mayor Mamdani’s house and peaceful supporters of the Mayor when reality reveals, yet again, that the narrative was all a brazen intentional LIE and the two terrorists were actually Muslim extremists devoted to ISIS and they were throwing IED’s at the people protesting Mamdani policies. They knew this fact immediately but they still presented a LIE!

I’m intentionally calling the protesters “people protesting Mamdani policies” because I’m honestly not sure that the current narrative that’s being pushed by the leftist media about it being “racist” and “anti-Muslim” is true. Why don’t I believe their narrative?

    Because…

“The political left has shown its pattern of propaganda lies within their narratives so many times that it’s beyond me why anyone would blindly accept any narrative that the political left, their lapdog Pravda-USA media, their woke consumed bureaucracy, or their activist supporters actively push?”

The political left is constantly lying in their narratives to intentionally undermine the truth and smear the political right, that’s why.

    • We’re already seeing that those that oppose Mayor Mamdani’s policies are going to be publicly tarred as racist and anti-Muslim just like anyone who opposed President Obama’s policies were publicly tarred as a racist and a white supremacist.

The left (in general) continue to use the same baldfaced lies over and over again, it looks to me like they’re insane pathological liars.

  5. I am hoping a professor will have some guts and eventually declare mainstream sources as biased sources of information that cannot automatically be cited anywhere.

I also hope somehow the FCC or whatever regulatory agency can do something about this. Maybe not from print sources, but for those who get public channels, this is inexcusable.

  6. Of course, lefties don’t consider the media biased. The media are carrying their water. “What’s not to like?”

I also hate the “They’re all bad.” Meaning, of course, Fox (or the New York Post, are similarly advocating for the right. Which is simply not the case. Fox, et al. are slimed because they are not far to the left, which makes them stand out and become targets for the “they’re just as bad.” They’re pretty darned close to what reporting used to be before Sam Donaldson created this whiny baloney.

  7. Abbie Phillip report at CNN vitually stated the devices were from the protesters who attacked the Mayors home.

Yesterday Van Hollen of MD scolded Chad Wolfe for not stating that Noem did not give Goode or the nurse “due process” when she labeled them domestic terrorists. First I did not know one’s opinions must be adjudicated before being uttered.

Mondami called those protesting the Islamization of New York radical white supremacists. Where was their supposed due process. This notion of due process created by politicians is a lie plain and simple. Due process only requires the government to follow existing rules when sanctions against the party can be enforced by the government. Furthermore due process does not mean everyone has a right to have their case heard by higher courts. Van Hollen is a lawyer and knows that but he willfully misrepresents the law daily.

It seems to me that Islamists are far more bigoted than the people protesting Sharia influence in legislation. The teens who maintained a place to manufacture bombs and tried to detonate them are proof that Islamists (not Muslims) are the radical bigoted ones.
For Kamala Harris who loves Venn diagrams the universe of Muslims can be seen are three spheres. Those who practice their religion peacefully, those who have believe that wiping out all infidels is a required act from Mohammed ( the Islamists) and those young people who are subject to manipulation by radical clerics to want to turn them into martyrs. The peaceful group needs to step up and lead the young away from the radical political clerics who want to bring about Armageddon .

  8. More lies from CNN. Just to be sure, I am not watching CNN as I do not like being lied at.

  9. Speaking of biased reporting, does anyone know where a person could get any reporting on what the U.S. and Israel are doing to Iran rather than just stories about the various pea shooter stuff Iran is either doing or threatening to do? All the news is about the overwhelming retaliation Iran is launching, or threatening, or thinking about, or “experts” are predicting, or thinking about.

    • Regarding the school the U.S. evidently bombed, I saw a report a week or so ago that said the school was part of a military installation which was bombed. The building next door which was also destroyed was still a military facility. Who moves a girl’s school into a former military building next door to a current military building?

      • who moves a girls school into a military installation? The same people who shoot protester/dissidents in their hospital beds

    • I see a lot of stories about how the US is running out of weapons and Israel is taking a beating.

First, the conversation offers support for the idea that Israel has been taking a ton of unacknowledged damage, directly related to the depletion of U.S. missiles, not just in the Gulf, but worldwide. As U.S. air defense missiles become scarce and targeting radar is destroyed, more and more Iranian missiles evade interception.

And the Sampson Option is frequently mentioned:

And if I can just add here … if you look at the damage in Israel, I believe the Israelis are getting ready to pop off a nuke. I really do. And I think this is a very dire moment in the history of our country because we are highly tethered to this insane policy. It’s not our own policy. We’re not writing it. This is the Israelis writing it.

I find it difficult to believe that the US air defense missiles are becoming scarce. I don’t really know how much damage Iran has inflicted but I’m not convinced it is as significant as is being reported. But, who knows?

    • I’m pretty sure the media are intent on doing a really fast Vietnam War job on this event and convincing voters this is a quagmire, thereby throwing the mid-terms to the Dems. I’d say they are completely jumping the shark, but the administration needs to do a better PR job.

    • I read a report early on that the protest wasn’t even done in front of Mamdani’s residence but somewhere else. I haven’t seen anything further about that since.
