Somehow, A “Great Stupid” Rally At Harvard Doesn’t Seem So Incongruous Any More

  • The demonstration, we are told, “drew members of the Harvard Palestine Solidarity Committee, Student Labor Action Movement, Harvard Graduate Students Union-United Auto Workers, and Harvard Undergraduate Monarch Coalition.” I know “intersectionality” is a thing for progressives, but this is ridiculous. Lucy’s dubious rape claim is somehow related to the labor movement? Fascinating. And assuming that “Palestine Solidarity” means rationalizing the October 7 Hamas attack on civilians in Israel that included mass rape, that group’s supposed support for the victims of sexual assault may be the most spectacular public demonstration of hypocrisy in world history. What could top it?
  • Erta K. Ismahili ’29, who emceed the event, said participants had to call attention to what she described as “a lack of accountability.” That’s funny, don’t you think? This whole debacle is based on a woman who has refused to accept accountability for her own reckless actions, bad choices, and shifting stories.
  • Here is my favorite, though. Erta, a female student “of color” (of course), proclaimed “Today we will be chanting, providing space for outrage and awareness at the lack of accountability for all.” Chanting! Now that’s productive. How Harvard chants have changed: when I was a freshman living in Harvard Yard, a group of students calling themselves “The Coalition to Levitate Mass Hall” would gather at midnight, surround Massachusetts Hall (the oldest building in the yard) and solemnly chant “Up! Up!” while gesturing skyward. This went on for months. Mass Hall never budged.

This, my friends, is what our most prestigious university has produced. Anyone with a Harvard degree should hide his or her head under a bag.

That’s me above.

  1. Women are disgracing themselves in this Ethics Train Wreck and apparently don’t care.

    I saw on Twitter:
It’s been a hard year for progressive women. Between:
    Linsey Clancy
    Christa Pike
    Lucy Craig
    Sydney Sweeney
And the Shane Gillis Joke (Women are dressing like whores at the gym)

They just can’t be normal. If people want to know why Trump wins, this short list alone is reason number one.

(Aside, the new login is horrible).

    • I’ve registered my complaint. At the same time, they also changed the tag process. I used to be able to write ” Donald Trump, click on it, and the tag would be up. Now I have to type it to get a menu of all similar tags, and click on one. If I want a new tag, I can’t just enter it…I have to open a “new tag” window, type the new tag in, and enter it. Then I have to type the new tag into the post to get the drop-down menu, and click on the now official tag on that.

  2. “How does a dubious rape claim at Cornell relate to the need for more “diversity” offices at Harvard?”

Diversity programs include women, especially women of color, but also white women when it’s necessary to pretend it’s not all anti-white racism. And, after all, women are not men who are the real oppressors. Unless, they are transmen, of course, in which case they are both diverse and oppressors (or is the narrative that transmen cannot be oppressors). Now where was I?

“And assuming that “Palestine Solidarity” means rationalizing the October 7 Hamas attack on civilians in Israel that included mass rape, that group’s supposed support for the victims of sexual assault may be the most spectacular public demonstration of hypocrisy in world history.”

And it is, but the narrative is that rapes and other sexually-based attacks on October 7 is all Israeli propaganda. Besides, we all know the Jews are the real sexual predators. Hitler Bill Kristof told us so.

“This whole debacle is based on a woman who has refused to accept accountability for her own reckless actions, bad choices, and shifting stories.”

I swear I’m going to write ethics reviews of “The Office” someday. In the episode “Golden Ticket”, Michael Scott comes up with what he thinks is a great idea – he puts five golden tickets inside five different boxes of paper. Each ticket offers 50% off the next order. Unfortunatly, Michael doesn’t realize that he put five tickets in a pallet going to the same client – their biggest client – and the tickets don’t stipulate one offer per customer so the company is about to lose a ton of money. Realizing he’s in big trouble, Michael pressures one of his employees to take responsibility for the idea instead. Then the CFO of the company, who was initially angry about the promotion, shows up thrilled because the client was so happy about the discount that they’ve made the company their sole provider of paper which is a huge financial boon. Now, Michael’s idea is back to brilliant and someone else is getting the credit. When the whole scheme is finally laid bare, Michael tells his boss, “I want all of the credit and none of the blame”.

Hollywood wants all of the credit for bringing the country together during the Kennedy assassination and the moon landing, as well as for helping to end the conflict in Vietnam. It wants none of the blame for the coursening of society and its influence on the reckless abandonment of centuries of good morals.

Barack Obama wanted credit for killing Osama bin Laden and none of the blame for the Housing Bubble bursting. To be fair, every President wants credit for the good that happens while he’s in office whether he set the process in motion or not and, lately, every President blames the previous one for what is going wrong.

And a great deal of women want to do whatever they want with their bodies and none of the accountability for what happens when it goes wrong.

    • And it is, but the narrative is that rapes and other sexually-based attacks on October 7 is all Israeli propaganda.

That’s a tough case to make, since Hamas videoed the rapes themselves, and you can find them online.

  3. “But Lucy got her revenge: Cornell has cancelled that party and all others at fraternities for the rest of the school year.”

Obviously, Cornell is a private University, but this would seem to violate the First Amendment Freedom of Association. If Cornell has any version of this, they should fight it.
