Who Do You Trust, CNN Or Don Lemon? (Hint: It’s A Trick Question)

Here is how Don Lemon announced his firing from CNN on Twitter…

Here was CNN’s response:

Lemon is an incorrigibly unprofessional and biased pseudo-journalist who has one of the most damning and extensive Ethics Alarms dossiers extant. he’s thrown tantrums, made up fake history, lied, peddled fake news and appeared drunk on the air. I think my favorite inexcusable babbling self-indulgence by Don was this, but I easily could have missed one, or dozens. Anyone that believes anything Don Lemon says, writes, publishes or tweets is dangerously gullible.

CNN, meanwhile, kept Lemon on the air in a high-profile, prime-time slot despite his lack of integrity and journalism competence, because it viewed him as an attractive messenger for its steady diet of biased, slanted and occasionally fabricated news stories serving its management’s partisan objectives. CNN is a little less trustworthy than Fox News, and a little more trustworthy than MSNBC, or, to be brief, completely untrustworthy.

The answer to the question posed in the headline is “Neither.”

  1. If I was in CNN management, I would have gone through his agent as well, just to avoid the: “when you’re in black skin, then you can fire me…”

  2. The funny part is that, after 17 years of working within CNN, he actually thought somebody there had some sort of decency.

  3. Slight correction:

“CNN, meanwhile, kept Lemon on the air in a high-profile, prime-time slot despite his lack of integrity and journalism competence, because it viewed him as an attractive messenger for its steady diet of biased, slanted and occasionally fabricated news stories serving its management’s partisan objectives.”

They did that for an unreasonably long time, but about six months ago, CNN “Promoted”(Demoted) Lemon to cohost their morning show “CNN This Morning”. He was obviously on thin ice, and the idea that he didn’t know it is unbelievable.

    • He was probably in denial. Actually, I think for the past few years he’s been in denial. He hasn’t delivered anything like real news or journalism for at least 5 years, been drunk on camera at least three times, and broken into tears on camera at least once.

I think the final straw was his rude comments about Nikki Haley coupled with his abuse of his female co-hosts. Just because you’re not interested in women does not mean you get to treat them badly and get a pass for it. It kind of reminds me of Robin Williams, who mercilessly sexually harassed Pam Dawber on the set of Mork & Mindy, but, because the actress who played Mindy’s mother was older and held no interest for him, he just abused her.

He should have been fired right around the same time as Chris Cuomo, but I guess they felt like they didn’t have enough to push him out the door without him kicking up a stink and crying racist and homophobe. It’s not unheard of to hold on to problem employees and give them enough rope till they finally hang themselves.

Not to worry, however, he’ll probably just slide into another spot over at MSNBC.

        • I agree, and it’s interesting to note this back-and-forth between CNN and Lemon. Lemon is terminated by CNN, but apparently skips the meeting with management, where presumably he would be told the reason(s) for dismissal. Then, without all those facts, he seems to insinuate that his firing might be lawsuit-worthy.

…and isn’t that exactly the way Lemon, Carlson, CNN, FoxNews, and most of the rest have been handling their “news” for years now? See the pattern?: 1. Get a piece of information. 2. Without tracking down the truth from the actual source, form an opinion of that information. 3. Concoct a conclusion in your mind on the matter based on your opinions. 4. Publish that opinion as a fact. 5. Get people to believe your opinion as though it is fact.

Lemon will likely never change. I hold out slightly more hope for Tucker, but that just may be my biases at work.

Keep the lawsuits coming. The more Dominions and Sandmanns that step up, the more these networks will (hopefully) be financially compelled towards real, accurate news.

  4. It’s almost as if the star media personalities are in a t.v. game show in which the principle means of out lasting other contestants is deceit.

  5. My eyes focused in on “it is clear that there are some larger issues at play.” I might be all wet, but that phrase gives off the odor of a lawsuit, either discrimination based on melanin or sexual preference.
